DEFCON is a military code starting from 5 and decreasing as the situation at hand reaches closer and closer to nuclear war. The closest we've ever been in the U.S. was DEFCON 2, as in the Cuban Missile Crisis I think.

5 is 'nominal peace' iirc. Defcon 4 is heightened alert, 3 is when the Defcon level is on active warfare, Defcon 2 is on Nuclear Preparedness, Defcon 1 is fullscale thermonuclear warfare.

@@Drazoron Are you alive? anyways its a reference to war games when the computer in charge of Americas Nukes try's to attack Russia because of a perceived threat, to teach the computer they challenge it to a game of tic tac toe and after showing it that there cant always be a winner they make it play against itself and every move it makes is countered to stop itself from winning so nobody wins. It then applies this knowledge to nuclear war and realizes that no matter what strategy it uses it can decisively beat Russia or any other country in a nuclear war its just both sides countering each other and nobody truly wins. After it realizes this it stops trying to fire the nukes and if I remember correct it says to the characters "How About A Nice Game Of Chess?"

Fun facts about Nuclear explosions from 1945-98: America has launched 1032 nukes Russia has launched 715 France has launched 210 China has launched 45 Britain has launched the same amount. I thinks its India thats launched 4 And I think that Pakistan has launched 2 France has launched more nukes than China, UK, India and Pakistan. Most of America's launches were in their own country. Some of Russia's have touched Eastern Europe and Finland. Some of Frances test have been in Africa whilst most were in the south pacific ocean. Britains were in Australia and in America as well. As an act of open agression USA is the only one to have launched nukes at another country. There has been a grand total of 2053 nukes launched since 1945 to 1998. These are offical statistics. I have not included any rumors such as korea or other Pakistani nukes or the north africa's nukes either.

silos don't just shoot nukes, they shoot down nukes!

4:38 I dont really hope this happens but I just imagined me sitting in class while seeing missiles firing going to europe then We hear like a cartoony kind of whistle and you just see a massive missile crash through the roof onto the teacher and all of us in class are here like "uhh what just happened?" and then theres like a sword stuck in the missile and someone touches it and it just goes from saying (DISARMED) to beeping twice then saying (ARMED) and then just a flash of It detonating in the city, and sips just sitting in the capitol with the most retarted face and pressing a button that says (NUKE THE EU) and just spamming the button and getting frustrated... if you imagine really hard, its quite funny.

This is such a grim and depressing game and the juxtaposition of 5 dudes laughing and the ending music is so jarring, but incredibly entertaining!

I love how Sips laughs as he he says "13.2 million dead!" It fits the real guy, the best guy, to be slightly sadistic.

I love that movie! It had young Matthew Broderick in it. And Joshua, the government supercomputer: "Wouldn't you like to play a nice game of chess?" It was like a quasi-modern version of Dr. Strangelove, which is also a fantastic thermonuclear war movie.

I used to play this game all the time when it first came out. Had some great times. One thing I noticed was everyone in the video was using 6 ships in each group when its much more useful to use only 3.

This game is so depressing, but your ending music makes everything okay.

What a terrible chain of hatred! Rythian is fantastic! He's clever and funny, and he absolutely idolizes Sips. Sips is amazing, the real guy, the best guy! The whole Yogscast is a fantastic group of people, so stop fighting over who is better, Sips or Rythian!
