So, mastering proper breath control can help us enhance our physical well-being and IS also a powerful tool to counter aging.
The main reason for this is deep breathing slows down the heart rate and relaxes the nervous system combating the stress hormones that are constantly released into our bodies, as a product of our fast-paced and busy lives. You may know that stress REALLY ages us and is caused by our own brains thinking a gazillion thoughts about our life situations.
Yes, it’s your thoughts that cause the stress and overwhelm, not the actual circumstances.
Secondly, the breastwork also slows down the thinking brain as we are actually to concentrate on breathing, so effectively using our brain to breath (instead of think the stress thoughts).
Also…Increased oxygen levels that come with deep breathing restores vitality to our facial features - skin is rosier, more supple and radiant. Shallow breaths are lower quality breaths so don’t have so many benefits….
Additionally, lung function has been found to be a strong predictor of longevity. It has a direct impact on cardiovascular health and it also works to improve brain health.
