Yoán Moncada: The Rise and Fall of a Phenom

Спорт

Hey everyone!
The label "phenom" is only given to a select few players. However, there's no guarantee these players will be successful at the pro level. One of those players is Yoán Moncada. Despite a couple of great seasons, inconsistency and injuries have plagued his MLB career. So the question is, will he ever turn into the superstar he was projected to be?

I think he could still become an All-Star level player if he got a fresh start elsewhere, the White Sox clubhouse is just a disaster. And his struggles are beyond clubhouse issues, but I'm sure a clean slate wouldn't hurt.

I still remember when we traded Moncada for Sale and I honestly wasn't too upset about it because I knew we were ready to compete and that prospects are never guaranteed compared to an established all-star pitcher in Sale in this case. I'm hoping he can figure it out because he's clearly talented, but being able to stay on the field is already the best ability you can have a professional athlete.

As a white sox fan who's been watching since 2010 I can tell you what happened to Moncada. He's a lazy bum like the rest of the team. Once he got his guaranteed money why would he care to play hard? The white sox clubhouse is full of lazy players who cashed in early on their talents and stopped caring because the organization doesn't reinforce playing hard.

that's a front office and coaching issue not as player issue look what happened to the marlins after a coaching staff change went from having a 69 win season to 84 in one year with no major roster changes and our best pitcher regressing and getting injured if you want your players to play hard you gotta keep them motivated why be motivated when your team doesn't care

This video glossed over his decline in speed, which I think is one of the main reasons his career hasn't lived up to expectations. This is a guy who was supposed to steal 40+ bases, yet his career high is 12 and he barely steals 1 or 2 a year now. I'm not sure if the White Sox bad coaching discourage baserunning agressiveness or if he just got worse because of the injuries. Either way I'd like for him to be running again in order to be good.

Mariners should steal. Send him to the driving line. Seattle can put him at 2B or 3B when needed. DH when the spot needs to be filled. He can strike out and fit in with the team well. It will cost little to get him as well. He has a bad contract, but Seattle can easily eat it up. He does seemingly need a new scenery
