@@stormsmack69 I know what you mean - i felt the same way about Ray Luzier joining Korn. The groove was way off at first - maybe too rigid, but he's come around and is a general badass on the drums so that helps. BTW seeing Korn after AIC on that tour, both were impressive but wow the energy of Korn was off the charts, just as I recall from the 90's (besides the shitty amphitheater vs floor space only clubs)

I feel like everybody needs to give proper recognition to the man that fills in for Layne Staley and covers Chris Cornell outstandingly! That's a massive fkn achievement!

Hearing Bill play this song makes me realise now that Mastodon actually takes quite a bit of influence from Soundgarden. Especially in the whole sideways weird dark riffing. I could totally see Chris Cornell singing on a Mastodon track. RIP Chris - such a huge talent he was

@@gumldsantos Based on actual statements made by the band mates, made by record producers and sound engineers at the time who all agree that it was a blanket term for any mildly gritty rock in seattle at that time? Alice In Chains is more metal, Soundgarden more stoner doomy metal like sabbath, Pearl Jam was more classic rock.. Nirvana was a punk/rock band. STP wasn't even from Seattle at the time. They were just another rock band lumped in.

Everyone's nailing this, but William's riding high on this one. Incredible.

No one can replace Chris Cornell, (and Williams not trying to either) but damn, he's done a brilliant job of singing this track! Filling Laynes shoes in Alice in Chains is proof enough of the talent he's got! An outstanding tribute to Chris!

AIC covered Hunted Down and Boot Camp a few years back in tribute to Chris Cornell. If anyone doubted he could pull off a Soundgarden song, that performance should convince you otherwise. I've loved every album he's done with AIC and the man has serious chops. Amazing cover.

@@oscarpicon7164 So did i. I see Alice in Chains in Cincinnatti at Horseshoe Casino 2014 and 2015, and at Taft theater 2016. They introduced themselves as the cast from WKRP in Cincinnatti. It was an old sitcom, pretty funny.

I love how Charlie sneaks in very subtly some double kick here and there. what a great collaboration. I fking love the singer. his delivery is so zen.

Holy fuck, if this doesn’t show how truly great of a vocalist William is... such an incredible cover guys.

@@hinjurock I think every drummer loved Matt Cameron, like every band loved Soundgarden, right from the start! Well, maybe not everyband? Until they heard, and/or saw the band! I was ever so fortunate to see Soundgarden on the "Louder Than Love" tour, in a small club in Syracuse, NY (Lost Horizons). Maybe in 89!? I remember most of the band wearing black T-shirts w/ "90" printed in white on the front (someone explained the reference to me? I forget now). Soundgarden were always the cream of the crop, even though other bands were more "popular", or had more "Top 20" songs, like STP, and Pearl Jam, etc. Soundgarden were loved by more other bands, at the time, then any band I can remember, easily. We had a band and lived above a Metal club(mostly metal). And we were very blessed to meet and hang with many bands! I don't ever remember anyone in a band, not loving Soundgarden, lol! At one local gig, not sure who was playing, but I noticed a guy with a black leather jacket w/the "Badmotorfinger" logo on a cool patch on back. I asked him if he worked w/Soundgarden. Bad ass jacket! He turned out to be Matt Cameron's drum tech! He had some great stories about Matt "improvising" during a drum fill, etc, and how the "Faith No More" drummer was watching Matt play, along with the drum tech, and Matt improvised a sick drum fill. "How'd he do that?", The FNM drummer asked the tech. "I don't know, but he does it all the time". "That's just Matt!" Lol, I remember asking him if Matt smoked bud. "Constantly!', was his answer! An Amazing band! That'd never go on without Chris Cornell. What's great about creating a Legendary band like this, is that their music lives on forever! I'm not sure who's doing what, nowadays, but I'm sure there's other projects on the horizons! Chris's deep, strong voice with that high, piercing scream made all the hairspray Metal singers look & feel like girls, tm.

@@timturk1899 I saw them on that tour as well, at the Country Club in Reseda, CA the night before they recorded the Louder Than Live video at the Whisky. I remember being really impressed with Matt Cameron's drumming and Chris' vocals were godlike.

What a fucking privilege it is to hear these four do such a fantastic cover.

Of all the covers I’ve seen with multiple members of different bands coming together ... this is the one that actually needs to lead to a supergroup for me. They all sound so natural together.

The vocal performance was insane! He killed it.

Man those guys from Mastadon really get around but everything they touch seems to be super awesome! I really liked this version and William sounds great! Love Soundgarden. No one sings like you anymore!

Duvall's performance at Chris Cornells tribute show was spot on. He sang Hunted Down with Jerry and Temple of the Dog members. Was pretty blown away by how close he was to the original sound. William does a stand up job for Alice. Have seen them 3 times since 2016. Hope they carry on Alice's truly historic legacy.

Great cover, William brought it. It takes a lot of balls to cover a song like Rusty Cage, you can’t touch Chris’s Cornell because he’s too good. But he did an admirable job, along with Charlie, Bill and Mark (love the dog). Thanks guys, can’t wait for the next cover.

I might sound like old man yells "GET OF MY LAWN!" but it is refreshing to hear a heavy song open with the drummer pounding on an actual ride cymbal. While I am happy that metal is still alive and well, I noticed that as time went on the ride cymbal has been replaced by a crash and the hi hat's been replaced by the double bass pedal. If you're hammering a double bass pedal for the entire song, then how are the double bass sections gonna sound bad ass if the WHOLE song has double bass. Anyway on a side note, I got BadMotorFinger way back in middle school and this sounded awesome!

When I heard Chris had passed away I never thought I'd hear a good version of this song done again, but you guys just totally killed it. when i saw chris solo back in 2015, he talked about johnny's cover a bit: chris actually wrote it for him, but the man in black turned it down, saying it's a soundgarden song. and then five years later, right around the time down on the upside came out, that cover happened. to make it more interesting: chris actually performed johnny's cover that night. chris covering his own song by the man in black - put that in your pipe and smoke it!

Could Duvall save another grunge band? He's missing Chris's upper range, but otherwise nailed it. He sounds so much more comfortable singing this than any AIC. So much talent William.

@@Darrell1977 missing Chris's upper range. Duvall is a great vocalist, but can't hit some of the notes chris can. Listen to the two versions back to back. Duvall has a range of A1-C♯6 , and Chris C2 - a5

The contribution of all the musicians here CANNOT be overstated, but I have to say, thank God for William Duvall! Not only one of the best voices in Metal, but goddamn, the best hair too! This video not only made my day, but if I'm being honest, choked me up a little too. Soundgarden for President!
