Questo tipo di abbigliamento femminile nell'atletica, sempre più simile ad un costume da bagno a due pezzi oppure ad un body sgambato e che trovo esteticamente inelegante e fuori luogo in ambiti diversi dal nuoto, ha cominciato a fare la sua timida comparsa negli anni 90 e poi si é progressivamente imposto fino a divenire dominante ai giorni nostri. Vi é tuttavia ancora una minoranza di atlete che indossa un abbigliamento più consono ed elegante e simile a quello maschile. L'atletica femminile si pratica in uno stadio sportivo e non in una spiaggia, ma purtroppo le spinte modaiole che tendono a denudare provocatoriamente le donne hanno finito per contagiare anche l'atletica.

@@HumptyMcFly I remember bamboo poles 60 yard dash not meters Weston roll instead of Fosbury flop in the high. ESPN show’s women’s volleyball and gymnastics beach volleyball. They don’t show the men sex sells
