This is the first of two parts, in the first we take a look over the VFD and program the units basic settings.
A slightly better translation of the manual is available here: bulkman3d.com/wp-content/uplo...
And a table of settings here: vancura.biz/files/Documents/CN...
And an updated copy of the basic settings table that I put together for the video: UPDATED 12/02/21

    The amplitude on the charts at the beginning of the video may be incorrect. I believe that 240V mains is 240V RMS (in the USA at least).

  • @ImpracticalMachinist

    @ImpracticalMachinist

    3 жыл бұрын

    Yes that’s true, the charts are a simplification in that respect. While it might have been an interesting aside, the graphs are really just supposed to be an illustration of what is going on even if they’re not strictly accurate, it may have been confusing to say that the peak is 300-odd volts when we’re using 240v for programming the vfd.

    Setting p12.01 gives you an adjustable output voltage, and on my vfd it allows for adjustment well above 380v. However I haven’t tested this to see if it’s actually putting out a higher voltage than the input. If you have a multimeter handy it would be interesting to see if that’s actually happening.

    @@ImpracticalMachinist that's a good question. On the multimeter the input is a solid 230v AC but the output makes the multimeter goes crazy and reads around 1900v. I just don't understand. Is the unit outputting a DC current I wonder. Like I said I bought it thinking I had a converter to go from single phase 230v AC to three phase 380v AC but I'm left scratching my head

    The long and the short of it is that no, the vfd itself simply won’t enable you to take the voltage from 240 to 380v, it just doesn’t have the hardware on board. You could put a transformer before the input, though whether this vfd would be ok with that I don’t know, and as much as I’d love to try it out I don’t have a spare vfd or an appropriate transformer. Is replacing the motor an option?

    P00.00 should be your mains input frequency. That will depend on where you are in the world, in the UK/Europe/Asia it would be 50hz. in the North/South America 60hz.

    12:40 & 13:20 actually 10V - VI1 - GND are for the potentiometer (BTW it's an "i" for _input_ in VI1). A potentiometer would be connected across 10V - GND and the wiper pin would connect to VI1. However, I cannot find any useful documentation of the actual use of the AO (analog out - simulation output) nor of the electrical characteristics (i.e. max current) of the 13V pin. Also XVCC is somewhat obscure as it sources 15V but the docs call it "15V external input". The MO (triode output) is another obscure one I cannot find any useful documentation about.

    Quite right about the pot terminals, frustratingly I didn’t notice the mistake while I was putting the video together. This arrangement seems fairly common among vfd’s with this sort of layout, it’s the same on my HY vfd. I’d be really interested to see what the AO actually does too.

    I suspect this will be your minimum torque settings. You’ll want to have a look at settings P00.09 and P00.10, which are the minimum frequency and voltage respectively. Have a look at the spreadsheet for the default values, and let me know how it goes. This might also be a problem with your potentiometer setting, you’ll need to set the minimum and maximum settings for the potentiometer to match the minimum and maximum output frequency.
