Yita Wang training with Sensei Con Kassis - #2 Kata Chatanyara Kushanku

Спорт

Yita Wang (王翌達) from Taiwan training with Sensei Con Kassis on kata Chatanyara Kushanku and its application (bunkai, 分解), in preparation for the Summer Olympic Games of Tokyo 2020. Exercises tailored by strength and conditioning coach Tony Hewitt to improve Yita's performance in this kata are also demonstrated in this video.
Yita has been practicing Karate for 17 years and has been training with Sensei Con Kassis for the last 8 years. He has a remarkable medal record:
• 2nd Karate1 Premier League - Paris 2018.
• 2nd AKF Asian Senior Continental Championships.
• 3rd Karate1 Premier League - Rabat 2018.
• 3rd Karate1 Premier League - Rotterdam 2018.
Yita’s dream is to qualify for the Olympic Games in Tokyo 2020 and to win a medal.
Sensei Con Kassis is the WKF Technical Commission Chairman and a direct student of Mabuni Kenei, son of the legendary founder of Shito-ryu style, Mabuni Kenwa. In addition to his experience with competitions due to his former role as international WKF referee, he has an invaluable knowledge of the Shito-ryu style, its story and its kata, including their meaning and their bunkai. His objective is to groom world class kata competitors who are also knowledgeable in the art of traditional Karate.
Tony Hewitt is a strength and conditioning coach with extensive experience in functional training for martial arts. He has previously collaborated with the Australian Tae Kwon Do National Team in preparation for the Olympic Games in 2000, 2004 and 2008. One of the aims of Tony’s training protocol is to improve Yita’s explosive power, thus enhancing his kata performance.
This video is part of a series on Yita Wang recorded by Andrea Pilia (www.andreapilia.com/) and Alessandro Timmi at Kassis Karate Academy in Melbourne (Victoria, Australia). You can find the other videos here:
