When I first moved to Utica , went out with friends at night , looked in the rear view mirror and the huge headlight of a train was following us down stark st . ( and this was after a couple beers ) could not understand( believe ) what I was seeing. My friends go yeah that’s the train.still laugh at that now ..

You must have had a few lol, the train runs on Schuyler St, not Stark, that's 1 street closer to Varick St, bar central lol.

It's between Columbia St and Oriskany Bvld by the Dunkin Donuts.i literally live on this road and will SO miss this free entertainment when I move soon. Even my cats are train watchers lol

The raised control tower is beautiful.

Every time I see a Schuyler Street video, in my head I hear Willy singing "On the road again" and I can't make it stop no matter how many times I bang my face on my desk.

I actually wonder if I am alive if I don't hear the train each day lol. I can see my apt in so many of these shots. SO gonna miss it when I move soon!

Looks like high cube box cars are excellent street tree trimmers. Great in street running video, thanks.

The old Signal switch tower should be placed on the National Historical Registry....there are so few of them left around the Country. Before it's too late........

I just zone out, watch the train, and commune with beautiful Utica. Great video!

Nice video, I even saw my apt. Yea, I get a front row seat and the engineers are great. If you signal them, they will toot the horn for the kids! And 24:45 is the train dropping a car off at the Utica Club Brewery. It's renamed now, but still owned by the Matt's family. It also sponsors a huge 15k race every yr that ppl from all over the world come to run.

2:10 the bearing on the inward axle on the truck on the tanker looks like it was getting pretty hot. Bearing failure to come on that one.

@@danielulz1640 Before Railroad Relocation in Lafayette Indiana, we had to deal with that quite a bit. It's interesting to say the least, but as a train watcher, mesmerizing! I am a true transportation nerd, and find stuff like this fascinating.

If this is the Susquehanna & Western RR, why is there a CSX locomotive in the mix? At 11:00 would love to see vintage film of that 2nd track and green tower in operation, we've lost so much RR history.

It's not used anymore, but hopefully they keep it. I love walking past it and feeling the history.

The max they run is at most 5 times a day and it's mostly 9-5 type. Never later than 8pm.

If the trained derailed and was off the track completely would that then become the normal police problem? He train would be on the roadway at that point right?

only a police problem as far as traffic is concerned....other then that I would imagine it's up to the railroad company.

13:55 for some reason, it looks pretty weird for a C40-9W to be traversing the streets of Utica 😅

@@spewgilist I think Big Blue is pretty busy at the moment but I agree...provide some hope for an entire Nation that needs it right now. Talk about a "real train wreck." Anyhow Central New York keeps on keeping on.
