I've had both for the past 2 years. RTIC zipper has broken. Yeti still going strong. I'll buy RTIC again, but I won't expect it to last as long.

The ice test was what sold me. If yeti wants double the price, then their coolers should have double the ice retention. Besides, aren’t they made in china as wel?

I had an rtic cause I thought was more bang for the buck. Til a year into it zipper went to crap even after using the lubricant it came with. Went to Yeti a couple years ago and it hasn’t showed much wear if any at all.

had an artic like the one in the video and it was good, until the rubber around the zipper started to go and jammed up the zipper due to rips and breaks. Then after a month or so of fiddling with it due to those issues the zipper handle broke off and made it basically useless. Lasted about a year and change, so kinda bummed i went with another brand.

RTIC did well. Would do better if you filled up the space. I know you were just keeping the testing equal. The space actually uses ice to keep it cool as well. So just filling it up with ice would take more ice but will improve the test results for RTIC.

Yeah, we realized afterwards that we actually put the RTIC in a slight disadvantage by leaving all that empty space in there. We'll definitely remember that for the next test we do in the future!

the ice remaining test is slightly flawed, but otherwise a pheromonal comparison. since there is more space inside the RTIC vs Yeti, there is more air to cool down in it as well, so right away we knew the RTIC would have less ice at the end of the test. since the numbers are so similar, we can safely say that they both retain ice at equal levels. the difference of 44 grams of ice is the result of the RTIC having to cool are larger volume.

Great observation! I guess next time, we should add amounts of ice proportional to the size of the container, not necessarily equal amounts if ice. Great catch, thanks for the comment!

We’re reviewing the Yeti Hopper 8. It fits 11 cans without ice. I think you’re thinking about the Yeti Hopper 12 which fits 24 cans with no ice and costs $250. Yeti’s naming scheme is confusing 😰🤦🏽‍♂️
