No worries, glad it was helpful! The 45 is great for smaller trips or for packing less!

Thanks for the info! Love the visual comparisons. Only thing I missed were the dimensions of the 45...I did catch the dimensions for the 65. Thanks again!!

For $50 price difference I would recommend the 65. More ice and more beer! 🤠

great job much appreciated, for a single person getting out on the road car/van living/camping and using the cooler at home with a wife and son on a patio as my uses . Space wise and portability am i thinking the right way with going with the 45?

Glad it was helpful! I would say the 45 would be more than enough for a one person travel, sometimes is enough for 2 persons (depending on use and length), I do pack light though. I would think it is enough, but give it some thought as to how you tend to pack for your trips to make sure the 45 is enough space

Highly recommend the 65! As I'm surprised at how fast it fills up. Personally, I wouldn't go any smaller than a 65! Have a great one!

Thanks for the comparison. I still haven't quite made up my mind which to roll with, but this definitely helps. I do "primitive" camping at music festivals leaving home Thursday afternoon, and returning Sunday night. I cook "real" food, so need plenty of room for that. Maybe two 45s would be better than one 65? What are your thoughts as to keeping food and drinks in separate coolers?

  • @GearReviews

I think best case would be to set everything in a pile to see how big it adds up to be. You could always step up a bigger one than the 65 if you think you need more room. But you could go for two separate, or get a divider for a larger cooler (Yeti sells them).

The more ice you can put into a cooler, especially in comparison to the amount of food, the longer the ice will keep.

For only a difference of 5lbs the 65 would seem to me, the better choice. You can put less items in a larger cooler easier than you can put more items in a smaller cooler....

I agree that the 65 might be better based on weight, but it is roughly $180 (CAD) more. The smaller cooler is a good size depending on what kind of trip you're going on or if you have a smaller vehicle as the 65 is quite large.

You can put fewer items, but the added air space in the larger cooler will result in less ice retention.

The 65 is not much bigger than the 45 …..have I known at a major sports supplier and compared it side by side I would have pulled the trigger on the 65 …..it just makes better sense overall!!! From solo to a group ……currently own the 45 ……wished I did my homework!! Lol

It isn't as big of a difference as it seems when online or in a store! I think the 45 is still a really good size but for bigger trips the 65 is a better choice (but the added weight and size should be considered for travelling).

These coolers are only bear resistant with padlocks locked into the front corners. The latches are not what makes it bear resistant.

Argh what a dilemma! I just bought the 45 for an upcoming 5+day campout with my son. Will be a slow 15 mile trip to the nearest store but I’m not intending to store steaks on ice for up to 5 days and assuming food shopping at least every two days. Regardless My first thought Is the 45 is way, way too small. Seems more appropriate for a cold food and drinks for day at the beach which calls into question the need for such an extravagant cooler in the first Place. A 20 lb bag of ice takes up half the inside volume right off the bat leaving only the basket and room for maybe 2 six packs. Thus you don’t want more than 10 pound bag if you want any usable space left. So right now my feeling is for multi day camping go big or go home. The cheapest cooler on the planet is just fine for day trip picnic and these Uber coolers only make sense when you need to keep lots of stuff cold for more than 2 days.

    @GearReviews

It really does depend on how and what you are wanting to keep cold and what kind of scenario you're going for. I agree the 45 is a smaller cooler so it can't hold as much, but it definitely comes in handy! For longer camping trips if you can drive in the bigger Yeti would be better in my opinion, if you need to bring lots.

So glad you say “pop” vs soda… which is about as wrong as it gets! The 45 just seems too small volume wise. Likely will just get one of each.

Haha a good number of cans of pop fit in both, but the 65 really does fit a good amount more, if you need it.

I had this big dilemma. The 65 is going to have to live in the truck once filled. It's really not a versatile cooler. 45 works well as a beer cooler at BBQs, enough for two people travels, and family day trips/overnighters. I bought a 35 to lug to the beach, and can use it in conjunction with the 45 for longer trips with my parents and brother. We just put all the drinks in the 35 - it gets opened more so it saves the ice in the bigger cooler to keep the food safe and edible.

This was the same thing I went through! The 65 is giant when empty and when its full is quite heavy to lug around! Love the setup of using both! Definitely agree with using the other for drinks!

45... great for daily park trips and outings for a family of 5. The 65, just pushing a bit, but glad to have the option. If I were to be out for several days instead of 1-2, I can see where the 65 would be a solid option. I considered the RTIC, but have a hard time supporting a company that is basically trying to mimic the Yeti and leach off profits... glad it is there though to give Yeti some competition and keep from getting too far ahead of themselves.

  • @GearReviews

I agree with you there. The 65 is a great option but has more restrictions on use, given its size and weight. Competition is outdoor gear is key for sure, can't have one brand lead the way and then sit back and not improve on issues if there is no one trying to challenge!

Prefer the 45... after filling up the 65 with drinks and ice it’s just to heavy to lug around.. the 45 when filled is heavy but much more manageable...

The flour was to give a reference for the different sizes of the coolers. Yeti's site has a spot where they say how many cans the cooler will fit. I also filled a different Yeti up in this video kzread.info/dash/bejne/k4eA1ddxfdSZm8Y.html
