I blame the van driver on the main road who side swiped the driver stopping for the cyclist, going too fast and had time to stop.

THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENS, WHEN YOU HAVE CRAZY NEW HIGHWAY CODE RULES IN THE UK... VEHICLES SHOULD GIVE WAY TO BICYCLES AT A JUNCTION, SO DRIVER GIVES WAY TO A BICYCLE AT A JUNCTION, UNFORTUNATELY THE CAR GIVING WAY, WILL BE AT FAULT FOR THE ACCIDENT IN THE INSURANCE CLAIM,

The Pickup was either looking at the phone or driving with eyes closed.

An interesting conundrum. The car correctly gave way to the cyclist but that meant his exit was blocked so he shouldn't have entered the box junction.

The cyclist was at a Give Way point.

Typical cyclist, just shruggs their shoulders "Wot.. Me ?" and f*#ks of as if nothing happened.

Cyclist stopped at give way but car waved them through, so I think you mean shouldn't have stopped in box and other driver should have been looking where they was going.

@@daz69phillips Just about agree here the car entering the box shouldnt have stopped for the cyclist and the other car shouldnt have entered the box until it was clear, grief the insurance companies involved will have a field day with this

The new HC rules about priorities were a contributing factor. The driver who got hit stopped in a box junction to give priority to the cyclist, leaving him in a vulnerable position. However, speedy coming in from the right of picture just wasn't looking forwards surely!

Don't stop in a box junction unless your exit is clear, but in this case, the new H2 rule turns it into a farce. Either way, the silver car should have given way to the pick-up. The truck was only a few seconds away. A perfect example of the new Rule H2 causing accidents of giving way to pedestrians at a junction.

Nope I can only think he was exhausted and having a bad day , feel sorry for the car driver who gave way to him because no doubt he will be liable for the damage to the car that ran into him, maybe it may be a 50/50 IF their respective insurance companies see this footage. Still can’t believe the cyclist just rode off though , he could have given his details to the drivers just for decency’s sake.

The stupid biker created the circumstance, the car driver set it up, the idiot van driver made it happen!

@@bigguychappers stupid pick-up yes, awful design, not really, how else would you design a junction like that? It was his lack of attention 100% and his apparent lack of caution when approaching the junction. Typical way to say it was my fault without saying it was my fault, a very common trait these days instead of owning mistakes! Having written this I suspect you may have been sarcastic in your comment 🤔🙂🙃?

The new law says you must give way to pedestrians trying to cross the road at the junction you are turning right or left into. The car should have waited before turning into the path of other vehicles and then stopping. The thing is that it is a bloody stupid law. God knows how many accidents like this have happened since it came in to the highway code.

Not sure who's at fault. Looks like they all driving on the wrong side of the road.

Car and Van both at fault - with 75% of blame credited to car). Car shouldn't have entered box junction with his exit not clear because of the bicycle (irrelevant if bicycle gives wrong impression or not). Pick up shouldn't have entered box junction with car stopped in it. If car hadn't entered box junction, pickup truck would have had clear through way. And even though it 'technically' is all attributed to the cyclist, in UK it is every driver's legal duty and responsibility to protect more vulnerable road users - even from thier own errors/stupidity. @Ahsley_Neal states this fact in many of his videos, and being a Driving Instructor's Driving Instructor, I trust his advice. kzread.info/dash/bejne/pZeKxK2fe6jdn6g.html

@@melgrant7404 It isn't the best design, but in theory if people strictly adhered to the box junction rule there wouldn't have been an issue. The cyclist added a random component, but still the car should have seen the cyclist approach and should have waited to see the cyclists actions before proceeding. But yeah, errors happen. So easy to miss the little details

Pedestrians should never ever have the right of way at a junction, As for the pick up driver obviously not aware of what's going on around him .

The cyclists here have no relevance. The van driver was aiming at a gap that did not yet exist. Very poor driving.

It's a horrible 5 way junction and I hate using it. At the end of the day, whoever was right or wrong, it didn't authorise Mr. This N' That to drive into the junction on a curve so carelessly.

Really bad driving.. The car had the right of way. Stopping at a junction was just asking for trouble..

Don't begin your turn & stop dead, the cyclist had give way lines which was observing. There again i could see what got out of the car, therefore needs no explanation 😂😂😂

You only give way turning left, not right. The driver should not have given priority to the cyclist. This is what happens when the highway code is not followed correctly. I teach bikeability which is teaching 9 year olds and above to ride bicycles on the road, and too many vehicles give priority to children on bicycles not understanding that there could be an impatient driver somewhere not expecting to stop in a situation where they would expect to keep moving, this is minor but some accidents are more serious.

The bike should have given way to the car normally but instead the car stupidly gave way to the bike making more time to get hit.
