The Hives is one of the most consistent bands in terms of quality albums and easily one of the greatest live bands ever

They are one of the only bands where if they never put out another song and just kept doing the same setlist over and over, it would still be worth going to see them because it would be different every time

@XxEvilTiggerxX 😆 yeah I know what you mean. Monkeys were amazing musically, but there was not much crowd interaction and its all a bit serious. Hives were just full throttle! I also had a better time with them and will definitely go and see them again!

I've seen The Hives live twice and they're absolutely incredible! The lead singer was also a host on a swedish Radio/TV show called "Musikhjälpen" - the music help in 2016! They lock themselves in a glass box in the middle of a swedish town for a week and broadcast live 24/7 to raise money for charity with varius guest appearances and live performances. It sounds super weird but it's awesome, and Pelle is such an incredible kind and generous person. Nothing but love for this band!

One of the tightest live bands that you will ever see. They are phenomenally good. I’m so glad to finally hear new material from them and for it to be such a banger.
The new album is an absolute banger start to end!

Gotta love the fact they never abandoned the "lore" behind the band. I would love if that storyline have it turn out that "Randy Fitzsimmons" had been the good Dr. Matt Destruction all along. As at this point it's not really likely he'll ever be back regularly, but it would be a nice way of having him remain an integral part of the band.
Remember mixing them live when their first album was released. Completely blown away since day one. They have some magic tracks in the trunk.
Saw them about 15 or more years ago. Hands down, the BEST live band I've ever seen....and I've seen damn near everyone I wanted to live.
spot on with the RATM reference at intro of song and also the Evil Dead movie. Exactly what I was thinking. Great review, as always
Bloody love the Hives. Seen them live 4 times now, they never disappoint!
They've been my favourite band since I was 11, really hope a ticket comes free so I can see them in Bristol soon!

All the Scandinavian, So-called "Scandi-Rock" bands are great. Turbonegro, Hellacopters, Gluecifer, Hives and Backyard Babies. They are a mix of Garage and punk Bands from rhe 60's and 70's. With that Scandinavian Darkness Spice.
I LOVE THIS REACTION!!! "Go on get the suits on boys!" quote of the day.
I'm excited, too! They're such a fun band and they've been away for too long. Always had a good time seeing them live and this first song definitely feels like a triumphant return. It's unmistakably the Hives and I can't wait to hear the rest of the album.
The Hives are back, Jack White's two albums last year were insanely good and Ren has become known to us - what a great 12 months of new music 😁
They did my all time favourite Christmas song with Cindy Lauper. Awesome to see them back!
Royal Republic also has a very Hives vibe. Just a great live band.
Saw them 2 nights ago in a tiny London venue, they were fantastic - loads of sweat, energy & crowd interaction!
Side Note : If none of you have ever seen Garth Marenghi's Darkplace, seek it out now. Take the Mighty Boosh, add a pinch of terror and stir in some early Doctor Who effects and you have...Garth Mareghi's (dramatic pause) Darkplace.

The video is 100% an Evil Dead homage. I absolutely love it ❤
oh got to love a LOUD GUITARS RECORDING. Sounds like it is all going in the red on the desk. Fab. Love it!!
So glad they're back! One of my fave gigs ever is still seeing the hives as a support to the yo yo's in 2001. Played to like 100 people, performing like they were headlining Download! Awesome band
I saw the Hives at T in the park around 2001 and still say it was the best live performance I've ever seen. Huge energy and Pelle strutting around swinging his mic was superb! Great tunes back then too.
i picked the wrong time to have avocado and tomato on a bagel, so had to avert my gaze during the clips. Long live Ramones 💗and Garth Marenghi’s Darkplace 📚😂
The Hives live are a revelation. Incredibly fun!
Good stuff. Love the garage rock and roll!

Seeing the hives end of March with the wonderful Bad nerves I last saw with a little band called the darkness. Lord knows how I missed this video
the hives are a really cool band, I saw them live in a festival around 2012~ 2013, their sound was incredible.
Lovely knitwear ! 😂They’ve really upped the stakes ! This is in my car on the way to work tomorrow. Stellar work Justin love from South Africa 🇿🇦

Saw these guys on the 12th and 14th and they were amazing!!!!!!
I love the hives ,I wasnt aware they are back with new stuff, this has made my day
I just commented a out the hives on an older video so I must have missed this one. The hives are smacking hard. The singer must have some serious vocal routine to hold up those screams and strains. They look like them are an absolute riot to go see. Will keep an eye on them. Looking forward too seeing you on the PTL 20th anniversary tour ❤
The Hives is great, very happy that they're back!!Their World Wide Web - tour was awesome and brilliant idea!! Hopefully I'll finally get to experience them live!! 😎
Love The Hives. I saw them live at Leeds Festival around 20 years ago. They were absolutely brilliant! Nice to see they've still got the energy. Looking forward to this new album.
Yes I love the hives! Instantly takes me back to high school every time I hear their music
This song KILLLLSSS and you got yourself a new subscriber. Fun review
Saw the Hives a year ago supporting The Offspring and they were amazing.
Along with Hanson, The Bronx and The Darkness (of course), The Hives are by far one of the best bands I've ever seen live. How did I miss this release?!
I love the Hives. So much energy in their performances.
Saw the hives many many years ago playing somewhere in london , cant remember where , but all i remember from that gig was the support band on the recieving end to a bottle or 2 or in this case thousands, felt bad for them at the time .
Love them. What a band! Rock!
We Really need the Hives atm. Sounds awesome.
RIGHT!! First MCR came back, and now THE FRIGGIN HIVES MAN. I saw MCR in Brisbane a few months back, can't wait for The Hives to announce a gig here! NEXT, THE DARKNESS!?!?! Now that I'm in my 30's and missed all you guys when I was younger I'm absolutely frigging making them this time! BOGUS OPERANDI Is quite possibly one of their best songs yet!
I thought you were saying "YES" is back, and I was like, cool.
Time flies!!! It's been curious how my mind has travelled back in time when I heard Pelle's voice in this video. My fav song of them is A.K.A. I-*-*-*-*-T (though I started listening to them by 2007). It's good to see that they still preserve their own sound.👍🏻 PS: Nice poster of mighty Dan!🎸🫶🏻
I play music. I’ve played music for 25 years. I’ve been in something like 40 bands. As long as The Hives are making music, I don’t actually need to make music. Because they do everything I want to do.
It seems the forced period of reflection that was covid has in part given a load of bands time to come out with some awesome tunes. Notably for me - Extreme, King's X, Filter and now the Hives! All with a renewed fire it seems!
Whether it’s The Darkness or this podcast, you’re a godsend, Justin!
Their new songs kicks ass and the video is great.
Seeing them in Portland later this year! I’m not missing a Hives tour for the world!
I Really enjoy the darkness and the hives. A tour together would be beautiful.

Wow, great to hear new stuff from The Hives
Hate to say was a defo highlight in me old cover band’s set in the noughties, frightening the life out of pub goers of the Home Counties back in the day. This sounds bang on message too!
Awesome to know they are back! ❤
Love The Hives! New single is peak Hives (IMHO). Thanks Justin!
The hives and scar symmetry both coming out with new albums after a decade is good to see.
Justin...I am a long-time fan of the Hives. I am really excited about their new album. Speaking of Scandinavian bands, I am guessing you might be familiar with Kaizer's Orchestra but that your audience may not be. They are on indefinite hiatus for now, but are another awesome live band. It would be great to do a piece on them. They have great video material uploaded to their site here. I think Maestro is their accessable album for newcomers. Anyway, just a thought.
Time to watch Cabin Fever again 😊. It gave me that vibe. ❤Hives!!!
I forgot about The Hives until your previous video. Got me all fired up again, and than they release this banger. Darn.
Admittedly I’m not really familiar with their music but this is great!!!! If this is what they typically sound like I’m in!
@justinhawkins you will be glad to know that I saw the hives destroy Madison Square Garden as direct support for… wait for it….. Maroon 5. It was very obvious that the hives had been forbidden to walk on the 30ft thrusts and had almost no use of the lighting truss. So they all wore white and used 4 spots plus a feature light on the drummer. Then the singer jumped off the stage and ran around in front of the thrusts. They were amazing.

That would have been a thing of beauty to watch. What a weird pairing. But was that M5 when you actually heard guitars? So many touring matches were just “oh they’re on the same label so put them together” and it makes no sense. M5 must have been shaking😅
The only time sitting at home on New Years Eve was ok, was when the Hives appeared on Jools Holland's Hootenanny many years ago. Here is hoping they will show up once again in 7 month's time!
so glad you did this!
Bogus Operandi is such a good name. Great band
Love the Hives ...They are indeed one of the best bands live.
That feeling when " Arrival" is belted out before the mighty D come on stage. Still feels the same after 15 + concerts!
The Bowie movie... with the laughter: Wondering if it could be The Man Who Fell to Earth (1976)? Where our hero is trying to fit in, but doesn't have things like laughter down yet? I recently watched it and was glad I did. Starting with his turquoise velvet suit, and going every which way from there, lol. Cheers!
if you see the hives on the street you better shout “GO ON, GET THE SUITS ON BOYS!!!”
My dad was in a punk/garage rock ban in the 90's and he got into the Hives as they became popular in the early 2000's. I've loved them since I first heard "Tick Tick Boom" when I was like 8 years old. I hope they come back to Nashville because the last time they were here, It was always 18+ shows and I wasn't 18 yet. I hope to experience them live, as I've only heard the best.
Just saw the video. It's epically good!
ahh The Hives. Always reminds me of playing Runescape using a modem in 2003. Glad they’ve kept their sound!

I’m actually surprised You Tube allowed this video. The way they babysit us. Like the words shit or fuck is the cause of mass shooters. They’re just words people flip out over which makes kids wanna say them. I miss Justin’s ability to just say whatever’s on his mind. Makes it less natural for him I think. I’d hate to have to censor myself. Then the labels claiming videos. Why’d they even make YT kids. Should have made YT for adults just to let creators speak how they want to (of course no hate speech). Can you tell it pisses me off, haha?
