I was blown away by how much I liked this. Fun board. Like a freestyle twin that floats way better than it should in pow.

I had this in a 153 when it came out, I also owned a hybrid 57. I thought the hybrid was a much better ride. I much preferred the tapered underbite over tapered mid bite. I sold both but just picked up the 2024 hybrid as it’s gone for 2024. First board I’ve bought twice.

I have a 153 Warca and 157 Hybrid. I fell in love with the feel and ride of Yes boards. In terms resort carving only, does the Optimistic really blow the doors off of the Warca? I’m not worried about pow float, but if it that much better of a carver, I will pick one up. Thank you so much for all the awesome reviews you do!

Thanks for the good words and glad they work for you. You know the new Optimistic doesn't have as much camber as your Warca and its about the same as your hybrid but just with a more turny sidecut. So not sure if you need that in your quiver as it won't necessarily carve harder but it will across the groomer to circle carve better.

I am going to get this board. Tested it (indoors) and loved it. Perfect for me, looking for a wide, directional twin that's a bit more directional than the 1 cm extra nose you typically get on these boards. Just curious, if this is not wide enough for size 13's, what is? 😁

Tough to say based on the info you gave. It might work depending on your weight and height. It might not be ideal though as it's meant to be ridden wider and shorter than you normally would. Hit me up here if you want better more in depth advice. thegoodride.com/snowboard-binding-and-boot-advice/

James wondering if you considered setting your bindings back on the WARCA for powder riding?

Yes I set my bindings as far back as they will go in powder and did it with this board as well. As you can see in the Timecode 10:06 - Powder there isn't much set back on board and it just didn't have the directional float as other YES boards did on same day tests.

Thanks for the review!! Did you try the 153? I know you preferred the 153 in the Hybrid and looking at surface area it has the same as the 153 Warca. Just wandering as it is only 26.2 waist width in the 153 and it might of been a little better in powder in that size.

@@thegoodridesnow ok yea I saw you ride the 150 just didn’t know if you tried or were able to get the 153 and just preferred the 150. I also wear a size 9 and weight the same (just a little taller at 6’2). The sizes you prefer is usually the size I get. I ride the greats in a 154, hybrid in a 153 and PYL in 159. All your pics in sizes for those boards. Thanks again for the reviews. I’ve been watching you guys on your website since around 2010. If your ever in Utah hit me up. I teach at Brighton and would love to show you around. Heading up there tomorrow to take out my Hybrid. We got hit with a storm today.

Gotcha. Yeah I was only able to get on the 150. The 150 felt pretty good and I would be ok if I owned it. Felt like a lot more than the 151 Greats but a little less than my 153 Hybrid. Yeah I'd love to try the 153 as well. Ah man! 2010? Thanks for sticking with us all these years and thanks for the offer. If we are heading that way I'll hit you up.

James, you might disagree but to get more float you should've been on the 153 or 155. Your specs are too big for the 150. No wonder it struggled to float. Not fair to compare it to bigger directional boards with set back.

I think you missed my point and I didn't compare it to bigger directional boards. All boards compared had the same or less surface area which is massively more important than length. The 155 pyl uninc is almost the same, but even the 153 Standard Uninc and Standard, which are directional twins with less surface area, have better directional float when using the set-back inserts. So it's not sizing it's just about explaining that this has no real directional float compared to other YES boards readers might be considering. If you watch the whole Pow chapter, you will see I said it's good for a twin but not for people who want to set it back. Lastly, my specs work with the 150 and 153 but not the 155 for a size 9 boot. Just too hard for me to turn. The 150 worked very well on groomers. The 153 would as well but they only had a 150. That's why I compared similar surface area boards to the 150.

Hi, I'm trying to chose between Jones Stratos, Jones Mind Expander and YES Warca. I assume that Jones Mind Expander is something different but how Jones Stratos and YES Warca can be compared? Thanks

3 very different boards and knowing nothing about you its hard to give you a focused comparison to help you decide. If you want real advice hit me up here. shop.thegoodride.com/merchandise/gear-advice/ A short answer. Warca is an almost full camber short/wide with a centered stance. Stratos is a normal length/width freeride board that is very chattery but very poppy. Mind Expander is a very set back board that rides in between those sizes. All three are soo different I don't know where to start.

got the warca in a 150 at a discounted price. I'm 145-150 lbs with a size 10.5 boots. Will be heading to BCC/LCC in Utah this weekend to test it out.

@The Good Ride only got to test in a foot of fresh pow. It held its own with some rear leg pressure. Where the board really shined for me was in trees/glades. I felt like the midbite with the shorter length helped it be really nimble. felt confident making tight turns through some fresh pow.

really debating on grabbing this board is the 148 too small for a 5’7 155-160 lb guy? My boot is 8.5

The Warca is better. I would only go Twin Pig for carving if you plan to switch carve a lot as well.

I don't spend a lot of brain power trying to predict industry trends. I'm just here to tell you how it rides when they make em. I can say that things seem to be cyclic so 10 years from now we might be riding some evolved version of rocker dominant boards or some entirely new kind of camber.

Is the 155 too small for 6'0 220lbs?

Weight is a little high but boot size and height works. I'd give it a go as it's meant to be ridden a little smaller.

I know they ride very differently but which board would you guys choose? The Warca or the Mtn Pig ?

Neither. The YES Hybrid or Ride Psycho Candy. Those are our favorites. If you are choosing between the two its a tough call. The Warca is more centered and feels more twin/like. Do you mean Warpig or Mtn Pig? Mtn Pig is very very different and not as comparable. It's much more a normal size/width freeride board. Warpig or Superpig would be most comparable.
