Just a few days before the latest patch, in my first run, which took 3.5 months and 170+ hours, (githyanki bard, romance with Karlach) I sacrificed myself and became an illithid (for some reason I thought it was reversible after the Netherbrain's death). In the final dialogue I volunteered to help Lae'zel, hoping for a last fight with the Queen. Imagine my surprise when Tav-illithid and Lae'zel just flew away, abandoning his beloved Karlach, no cutscenes with the companions happened, except Karlach, who just burned down on the pier under the surprised looks of Shadowheart and Will (Blade of Avernus by the way). I was furious. Thank God it wasn't Honor mode and I was able to replay the final, sacrificed Orpheus, watched all the companions cutscenes and went to live happily (???) with Karlach in Hell.

This has been patched. My latest non honor run I had this exact cutscene, and at the epilogue party, Wyll and Karlach were here telling me about their adventures in Avernus.

Comrade Illithid with the RPG-7 got me good lmao

I think everyone would love a GunFire Mode gameplay. It easily would be chaotic and hilarious

honestly I cannot see how Lae'zel would act this way with you being an ilithid. As far as there belief is (and quite possibly you are) no longer you but the ilithid with your memories. For someone to just suddenly do a 180 like that when you hate them all your life and for good reason, for a person who is no longer that person you've known for only a short time, its just weird.

When i saw a Riffle and Rpg on their backs, i rembered Gargoyles, where Demona wore a medieval clothes while fighting with a bazooka.

Orpheus was ready to kill himself because he became mindflayer. But when you become mindflayer, he's like “oh, you're quite friendly illithyd, join our fight, surely you will be well accepted with our people”.

I was also surprised, because I expected him to say "your participation in the uprising will ruin our whole idea" :)

I didn't notice anything wrong until I saw the "unusual thicc staff". Then immediately recognized that blast cone. I see you are also a man of fine taste and rocketmancy.

And the party is left there like.... Uhhh... sooooo the leader just... bolted off. Who wants to go the blushing mermaid? Astarion: Finally I can take off this stupid ugly helmet Karlach: I can't believe she made me wear this jacket

Now why does this put me in mind of "Grunts" by Mary Gentle? Where a company of Orcs fighting for the Dark Lord find a giant warehouse of modern weaponry and unleash it on ... well, everybody really. The Elves never knew what hit them.

Source of my bruises scene made me care for her. Sunrise scene made me fall in love with her. İ would go to the end with her, into very fires of mordor

I wish that had been an option when I went the Illithid route. I've already played through it 5 times, though, and ain't gonna do it again just to see the ending I just watched. That said, I think having an Illithid ally would only serve to undermine Opheus' goals. The other Gith might be swayed by Orpheus & Lae'zel together, but with an Illithid tagging along, most Gith would write the whole thing off as an Illithid plot.

I saved at the "order the netherbrain" dialog, so I reloaded later. You can just ask to join up and he'll accept you as an unorthodox, but effective ally. Considering the epilogue mentions you and Lae'zel going to try and ally with the Githerazi, you might be at arm's length. Then again, Lae'zel also says the two of you were trained by him as monks of the comet over the last six months. So you were kept close by. An article I read said he might reference some lore about a similar situation between a gith noble and a rogue flayer.. but I never heard it in the game.

There are dragons, a tentacle faced humanoid and magic in this world. Someone adds one rocket propelled grenade and everyone loses their minds to disbelief.

Why was I was expecting Linkin part to start playing?

Finally, originally she rejected and shunned you as soon as you became illithid, then left you on toril.

I was expecting Orpheus to be a fearsome person with a powerful voice and unshackled he get somewhat muscular but lean. Instead i feel he kinda zesty. He might meet me in camp later 💀

I had this exact ending as my first when the game came out but my character was a githyanki turned

This was exactly my first natural ending without planning ahead and once i finished and started too look up other endings I realized it’s my favorite.

If Wyll decides to become the Blade of Avernus, he talks her into going back and taking him with. That said, when I picked the illithid suicide route, she burned up.

Can't even complain about the AK-47 and RPG since in cannon forgotten realms science fiction weaponry like laser rifles and anti matter guns are a thing that exists.

I personally hate this ending. I think if you became a mind flayed you should be faced with the consequence of not being allowed to join the fight against the lich queen. Or better yet, you go your own way to aid them in a more informal alliance.
