And if I didn't make it clear I don't support Russia. I just understand that video games do not fund the Russian war machine.

Well, this one will have more AND be ahead always from now on. Harenko locked out folks from commenting on his video because, quote, "currently being botted by more faceless, newly made accounts than anyone could ever realistically keep up with". Only take author will show in the comments is yielding free will and agreeing to his emotional hard stance (agreeing, basically). Even asking him to "fix dead sources and elaborate on them" is technically "botting" to him, lol.

I found reassurance in the fact that Ukraine is resisting and that a lot of Russians do not seek conflicts or do not necessarily agree with this nonsense. As for Atomic heart, this game was started in 2017, and from the very start there was a unique signature about it, with the drones, the tech, the worldbuilding. Also, many of these games would fall under Harenko's claim of "idolizing" the cultures in question... SERIOUSLY, who's going to look at BIOSHOCK's city of Rapture and think the antagonist's ideas were sound? Or look at WOLFENSTEIN's Death's Head extracting an Allied soldier's brain to enslave it and think "Nazis are cool?" Or FALLOUT's Atomic Cafe sensibilities and think that a nuclear war is anything but an act of lunacy? These games exist not to glorify the concepts of the game world, but to ANALYZE them and how they ultimately failed.

Not only have they lost nearly all minority rights, but there is also evidence of paramilitary activity in those regions, with beatings, wrongful imprisonments and even "disappearings". The Romanian president asks Ukraine every few months to treat their minorities better, and their only response is "Sure sure, don't worry" and then do nothing. Even Hungary has started to get involved in this. Ukraine also had HORRIBLE relations with their neighbors since their independence, and have 0 regard for international law or for nature preservation for that matter (see the Bystroe canal controversy, the Dniester dams, the Snake Island trials, the invasion of the islands on the Danube, the invasion of Transnistria in the 90's). Hogwarts Legacy was attacked because of the person who created the franchise and not the actual content of the game(although they tried to manipulate everyone by saying that there was antisemitic content in the game because the books have a slight history of that). With Atomic Heart there was a genuine fear that the CONTENT of the game itself and therefore the people who made game(the developers) were pushing Russian propaganda. Which, as of now, does not appear to be true. But the reviews come out today and we will see if there is actually any Russian propaganda in the game. In which case...no purchase.

I'm really starting to get sick of this year's current trend of "gamers" (more likely Twitter users) who take some arbitrary thing about a game as an excuse to assume the game has malicious intentions (instead of it just trying to be a video game) and try to spread a boycott of the product. First was people accusing the Dead Space Remake of being "overly woke" just because they added a trans symbol to the corner of the bathroom sign. Currently, there are people claiming people who buy Hogwarts are transphobic (instead of people buying it just because they like Harry Potter and wanna play as a wizard) just because JK Rowling made the series (even though I don't know if she even had any involvement in the game's production). And now you got this crap with Atomic Heart. I know we've seen many games, movies, and shows hand force and misrepresent political/diversity themes and statements (ex: Velma, the new Saints row, etc) and many are just desensitized at this point, but now it feels like now that some actually good games are coming out, people are just looking for any kind of controversy because we're used to expecting it as much as we're used to expecting games to come out buggy or incomplete. IDK, I think some people just need to go out and touch some grass.

The starch in the fruit is converted to simple sugars and at the same time, pectin, a component of fiber that cements the cell walls together, begins to disintegrate thereby softening the tissue. Once this happens, it starts a chain reaction, stimulating the process in other apples.” (Joe Schwarcz PHD p 1).

What's happening with Hogwart's and Atomic Hart boycotters is the equivalent of burning a house to the ground to kill fly. Realistically the amount of money going to Russia's war effort from Atomic Heart purchases is so insignificant all things considered like continents relying on Russian state owned gas that it's unfair to punish Russian developers for wanting to sell a game they've been working on for many years. Same with Hogwarts, JK makes so much money of so many different deals that punishing the Hogwarts studio hard working developers isn't worth it in my book. Not to mention that it's not fair to the art itself. I mean Hogwarts Legacy is an amazing game, you play it and can tell the developers poured a lot of love and passion into it only for a group of people who hate JK to want to try and burn it all to the ground. I'll take a leap here and say most Russians don't like this war, I mean how could they but they are slaves to their circumstance as many of us are. We all want to live a normal life, make a comfortable living and be with our families. These developers are trying to do the same and are forced to have to navigate through all the baggage that comes with nations being at war. These are complex issues that aren't that black and white.

@@drmaulana2600 i never heard them saying that, but I assume they did, and I understand that and wouldn't confront them in any manner. When ukrainians are not sure that they will live until tomorrow (and it's not an overestimation, russian rockets fall on residential buildings almost every day) you can not blame or confront them for being too much emotional. You may still buy it if you want, no one can stop you from doing it, but dont blame people who fight for their lives and seek any way to stop russia for being too vocal. And also russian/post soviet oligarchy works a way people from other places seem to not understand. Connections with gazprom that Harenko puts are most certainly legit.

The problem with that video is that, in fact, if the game were not made by Russian developers, then there would be no complaints, just like the video itself, but since Atomic Heart is created by Russians, then, accordingly, he tries to show as much as possible to underestimate this game. And I say it how Ukrainian which wait release this game, because I like setting and just interesting what imagine this game.

I didn't even know that Atomic Heart existed before seeing that video. However after watching it I now feel compelled to buy the game because of how strongly I disagree with Harenko. I don't think that the livelihoods of Russian game developers and those associated with them should be attacked and damaged because of where they're from. If I can help to undo some of that damage I will. It's really great to see so many people reject these misguided and nonsensical takes. It continues to astonish me how little self awareness these woke types of people have. Beneath their misguided activism/virtue signalling are deeply flawed and hypocritical people. It's nice to see that people recognize that and will call them out on their BS.

Imagine spending years on a unique looking game, pouring love and passion into this project Then a bunch of entitled Westerners hiding safely behind Twitter make it political, demanding you who actually live in Russia to openly condemn your government, which is basically asking you to commit suicide. Kinda racist don't you think? Of all the developers and companies, they only demanded Mundfish to make a statement just because they're Russians And after you made a pro-peace statement, they're upset you didn't say "fuck Putin and this war", so they dig into things, demanding you to disclose your investor's information, as well as questioning how dare your game collects user data, despite in the term it clearly stated it's only "possible " those data will be transfered to tax office and FSB only

NOTICE: Not saying names here but a developer did express they (and an unspecified number of other crew members) are against the war in Ukraine. This isn't BSG, whose leader openly supports Putin's wrath, this is a company that popped up out of nowhere. They're just people, creating a game from their vision of an alternate reality. Buying their game isn't funding the war machine.
