Well, this one will have more AND be ahead always from now on. Harenko locked out folks from commenting on his video because, quote, "currently being botted by more faceless, newly made accounts than anyone could ever realistically keep up with". I'm really starting to get sick of this year's current trend of "gamers" (more likely Twitter users) who take some arbitrary thing about a game as an excuse to assume the game has malicious intentions (instead of it just trying to be a video game) and try to spread a boycott of the product. First was people accusing the Dead Space Remake of being "overly woke" just because they added a trans symbol to the corner of the bathroom sign. Currently, there are people claiming people who buy Hogwarts are transphobic (instead of people buying it just because they like Harry Potter and wanna play as a wizard) just because JK Rowling made the series (even though I don't know if she even had any involvement in the game's production). And now you got this crap with Atomic Heart. I know we've seen many games, movies, and shows hand force and misrepresent political/diversity themes and statements (ex: Velma, the new Saints row, etc) and many are just desensitized at this point, but now it feels like now that some actually good games are coming out, people are just looking for any kind of controversy because we're used to expecting it as much as we're used to expecting games to come out buggy or incomplete. IDK, I think some people just need to go out and touch some grass.

@@WatercolourHazard His feelings were clouding his judgement on a videogame clearly set in a fictional version of the USSR. Also, how is this game glorifying the KGB? The developers never said the protagonist was a good guy either, only that he is a Soviet special agent (a.k.a KGB) and the trailers go out of their way to highlight that the place you are exploring was doing highly illegal stuff promoted by a corrupt government - hence why the labs are all secret. According to “Can one rotten apple really spoil the whole barrel?” it states, “Because once an apple is rotten or has physical damage, (ie a bruise), it produces ethylene, which in turn leads to a slightly increased internal temperature causing a breakdown of chlorophyll and the synthesis of other pigments. The starch in the fruit is converted to simple sugars and at the same time, pectin, a component of fiber that cements the cell walls together, begins to disintegrate thereby softening the tissue. Once this happens, it starts a chain reaction, stimulating the process in other apples.” (Joe Schwarcz PHD p 1).

What's happening with Hogwart's and Atomic Hart boycotters is the equivalent of burning a house to the ground to kill fly. Realistically the amount of money going to Russia's war effort from Atomic Heart purchases is so insignificant all things considered like continents relying on Russian state owned gas that it's unfair to punish Russian developers for wanting to sell a game they've been working on for many years. Same with Hogwarts, JK makes so much money of so many different deals that punishing the Hogwarts studio hard working developers isn't worth it in my book. Not to mention that it's not fair to the art itself. I mean Hogwarts Legacy is an amazing game, you play it and can tell the developers poured a lot of love and passion into it only for a group of people who hate JK to want to try and burn it all to the ground. I'll take a leap here and say most Russians don't like this war, I mean how could they but they are slaves to their circumstance as many of us are. We all want to live a normal life, make a comfortable living and be with our families. These developers are trying to do the same and are forced to have to navigate through all the baggage that comes with nations being at war. These are complex issues that aren't that black and white.

And many of those who speak as if they are against. They are just hypocritical. If you try to continue talking with the "good russian" for a while, at one point he will show his true nature.
The game has been in development for years, even before the Ukraine war. Unless the devs singlehandedly pushed Russia to invade Ukraine then I don't think we should boycott it.

I've never heard of the game, until I saw the video by Harenko telling me not to buy it, his whole video having the opposite effect, the game looks intriguing, but it's 2023 so we all know what games nowadays are like, so if I ever get it it'll be a few months and on sale.
A new voice of the people
I found the Harenko video as I’m playing the game and I was like I buy games to kill things like aliens and robots so come at me Harenko
I've been looking forward to this game for awhile and just pre-ordered it!
Wasn't this game in development for awhile before the war between Ukraine and Russia? Because I don't think the guy making this game is saying "soviet Russia is better" or anything like that. Plus I'm pretty sure if the maker of Atomic heart were to saying anything bad to the Russian government then who knows what'll happen to him. Even though he made some good points but the way he did it was pretty bad. I did want to hear the guy out but I stopped half way. Like should we criticize Wolfenstein for making an alternate universe where the Nazis won WW2?

Well, the situation in Ukraine has been going on since the 90’s, but really ramped up with Russia in 2014.
Given It scratch the bioshock itch, the openworld aspect was reminiscent of Dyinglight: The Following, and a narrative direction similar to Wolfenstein.

I remember seeing the dudes vid and just rolledmy eyes, clicking it, watching like 2 minutes and folding. Came back, watched the rest and I was just like...really man.
Game looks good but gotta ask as I’m gonna have to decide if this is worth the 75 dollar for me to get day 1. I’m looking at getting it on ps5. I’m looking at either it or the RE4 remake or this game. Advice plz??

I would maybe wait a bit in them both, Atomic Heart may have problems or somethin' (at least I'm saying this as I don't know much about the company/developers), so we don't know if it's really gonna be a banger or nah. While on RE4, we know that Capcom has been doing well made remakes/games/has well know experience, but maybe they do something like they did with RE3, where they removed the whole clock tower thing

@@travishunstable5283 More like Bioshock. Personally i loved Prey more because of slow pacing and System Shock 2 vibes. Each to his own i guess. Imagine lovechild of Fallout and Bioshock but soviet and slow paced. Game’s crafting system is very similar to Prey’s (2017) i.e. everything you loot is important and can (will) be used by player.
The guy in that video says that the USSR is bad, it's terrible, but at the same time he himself is talking about the tragedy of Gerasim and Nagasaki, which the United States staged for a moment, no matter how bad the USSR has been for all its existence, without doing anything like that, let's not forget that it is this evil The USSR saved the world from Nazi Germany at the cost of the lives of 27 million people, and there were not only Russians, but also Ukrainians, because the USSR was in many ways a national country

Cool alt history but false, the ones who enabled the nazis were the soviets. They split Poland with the nazis, than congratulated Hitler on conquering Paris and increased the trade between countries and only started to fight because the nazis betrayed them. Only to be saved by the US landlease (Stalin himself said it). Than only bullied every neighbor, heck the Koreans are divided to this day because of the Russians. Russia is the continuation of a country that worked with the nazis, it's either destroyed and rebuilt or it will continue to be a problem.

As soon as I that guys video. I bought the game. So tired of this cancel culture bs.
The problem with that video is that, in fact, if the game were not made by Russian developers, then there would be no complaints, just like the video itself, but since Atomic Heart is created by Russians, then, accordingly, he tries to show as much as possible to underestimate this game. And I say it how Ukrainian which wait release this game, because I like setting and just interesting what imagine this game.

I didn't even know that Atomic Heart existed before seeing that video. However after watching it I now feel compelled to buy the game because of how strongly I disagree with Harenko. I don't think that the livelihoods of Russian game developers and those associated with them should be attacked and damaged because of where they're from. If I can help to undo some of that damage I will. It's really great to see so many people reject these misguided and nonsensical takes. It continues to astonish me how little self awareness these woke types of people have. Beneath their misguided activism/virtue signalling are deeply flawed and hypocritical people. It's nice to see that people recognize that and will call them out on their BS.

So I’ve never heard of this guy till I seen this video... he has a really just bad point of view. What I was really shocked to see is that he gets 1000s Of views and posts a lot of destiny videos. OH MY GOD YES! You put all my problems with that bloody video into words. Good on ya mate! Praise the Omnissiah!
Totally agree with what you’ve said here. Great video
Imagine spending years on a unique looking game, pouring love and passion into this project Then a bunch of entitled Westerners hiding safely behind Twitter make it political, demanding you who actually live in Russia to openly condemn your government, which is basically asking you to commit suicide. Kinda racist don't you think? Of all the developers and companies, they only demanded Mundfish to make a statement just because they're Russians And after you made a pro-peace statement, they're upset you didn't say "fuck Putin and this war", so they dig into things, demanding you to disclose your investor's information, as well as questioning how dare your game collects user data, despite in the term it clearly stated it's only "possible " those data will be transfered to tax office and FSB only
Great video, very logical and methodical breakdown with clearly defined points, very well done 👍
That dinner looked so fun, they had cosplayers and everything, it looked so cool.
NOTICE: Not saying names here but a developer did express they (and an unspecified number of other crew members) are against the war in Ukraine. This isn't BSG, whose leader openly supports Putin's wrath, this is a company that popped up out of nowhere. They're just people, creating a game from their vision of an alternate reality. Buying their game isn't funding the war machine.
Harenko is secretly a dev for Disco Elysium.
But doesn't European Countries also buying Oil from Russia...

The only thing that really scared me and is preventing me from playing the game is them basically taking too much aka your ip address and your actual address
