Produced by Paul Hoefler Productions on behalf of Western Air LInes, "Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons" is a classic travelogue film that dates to 1947. It presents views from both an airplane and an automobile of Old Faithful and the Yellowstone River Canyon, the geyser basins, Sulphur Springs, Grand Canyon, fishing spots, dude ranches and roundups. Filmmaker Paul Hoefler notoriously produced the movie "Africa Speaks!" He was an adventurer who produced more than eighty 16mm classroom academic films on world subjects during a long and storied career. Note on this film: it contains two original songs -- “Rancho in the Sky” and “Ridin’ Out to Nowhere”. Music and Lyrics written by Keith Daniels.
The film opens with a Western Airlines DC-3 plane flying towards YellowStone National park (1:01). The Grand Prismatic Spring is shown (1:05). The film then shows Old Faithful (1:15). The Canyon Hotel is shown on screen (1:42). The Grand Canyon of Yellowstone is shown on screen (1:49). The Lower Falls of Yellowstone are then shown on screen (1:59). West Yellowstone Airport information plaque is shown (2:28). The narrator describes the tour over the Grand Loop Road (3:25-38). The Little Whirligig Geyser is shown on screen (3:51). The Sulfur Springs are shown (4:17). The Hurricane and Black Growler steam vents are shown (4:23). The Roaring Mountain is shown on screen (4:37). The Golden Gate Canyon is shown on screen (4:42). A herd of Elk Cows with their Calves is shown (4:50). The narrator explains the different names that describe the region (5:30). Pronghorn Antelope are shown on screen (5:39-6:07). The Grand Canyon and Lower Falls of Yellowstone from an artist's point of view are shown at (6:32). The Dragon’s Mouth Crater is shown on screen (6:34). The Yellowstone Fishing Bridge is shown on screen with cars running up and down it (7:03). A trout is shown in the water below the bridge (7:14). The narrator continues to explain that the tour will continue up to the Upper Geyser Basin (7:28-7:38). Yellowstone Lake is shown (7:44). Black and brown bears are shown (8:03- 8:07). Old Faithful Inn is shown on screen (8:25). The Throttle Geyser and Castle Geyser are shown (8:37-8:41). Old Faithful is then shown (9:00). The Hotel Madison is shown (9:48). The Tepee Lodge is shown and a 1952 Austin A70 Hereford is prominently shown on screen along with a 1946 Ford Super Deluxe Station Wagon (9:53). Fishermen are shown fly fishing, and a Rainbow Trout is shown (10:33-10:37). Henry’s Lake is shown on screen (11:22). The narrator describes the Pittsburgh Club (12:00). The caught fish are shown, this might be triggering imagery for some (12:22). The different types of trout are shown (12:25). A freezing company “Freeze’em” sign in shape of a trout is shown (12:39). An aerial view of The Grand Teton Range is shown (12:56). The tourists are shown getting off at Jackson Hole, Wyoming (13:24). The 1946 Ford Super Deluxe Station Wagon is shown driving to a famous working ranch called Triangle X (13:55). The ranch itself is shown (14:08-46). Young men are shown trying their skills as calf wrangler rodeo stars (15:10). The Wort Hotel is shown on screen (15:40). Various “dude ranches” are shown, the Ramshorn, the Double Diamond, the Teton Skyline Ranch, and the Bearpaw (15:58-16:09). The church bell is shown ringing (16:58). The cross of hope is outlined against the mountains inside the church (17:36). Jenny Lake Ranch is shown (20:10). The narrator explains that Signal Mountain Lodge lies in the shadow of the Grand Teton (20:18). Jackson lake is shown on screen (20:28).

    Thanks to PERISCOPE so much for their awesome preservation efforts. It's so interesting to watch these videos for people interested in history that it is easy to forget the efforts required to digitize these videos so they don't fall to pieces.

    You can't even do most of this at Yellowstone anymore. Beautiful fun camping in the wilderness in the video, but now the govt doesn't trust people to do it anymore but in developed dirt lots

    @@lizlee6290 Exactly. I'd even say beyond asinine. When I was there, I saw and met people from all over. If anything it enhanced the experience; I enjoyed seeing and talking to people who were also wowed by the park.
