If they ever make another Finding Nemo movie, this relationship needs to be in it

It's a fantastic feeling to see that happen. My tank just recently paired up. I bought a tiger pistol shrimp months ago & thought he was killed a week later seeing some kind of shrimp carcass. Then i bought an orange spotted goby a week ago... and guess what? They found each other. My daughter startes telling me she saw a tiny shrimp behind the goby & i didn't wanna believe it at first. I was very elated to see them pair up! The shrimp has a predator in the skunk cleaner shrimp which is 5-10 times its size. The 2 have built an underground tunnel & it's only been a week. This video makes it more fascinating!

I read somewhere that the shrimp builds tunnels inside their burrows and mate with near by shrimp. Idk how the gobys do it but gobys are social and occasionally leave there burrow to socialize and I bet thats when it happens

Very cool. Got a suggestion - take a long rubber band (kind you'd find on produce) and attach it to the pan handle of your tripod. It'll take away that initial "snap" when you follow the goby and your video will be smoother.

after they pair up, i would not recommend getting another burrowing fish. trust me speaking from experience.

I wonder if the goby is wiping some sort of pheromone onto the shrimp so the shrimp knows that he's not a threat, just a theory.

Very nice. I wish I could be this lucky. My pistol shrimp has killed three gobies, yellow tang and my hippo tang.he kills them brings them to his sand cave and eats them. I gotta get rid of this monster.

You sure it was a pistol shrimp? I've had 3 shrimp and 4 watchmen and they've always gotten along great. Any other fish that tries to move into their tunnel never comes out.

i dont think its the pistol once a fish stays away from their burrow it will be ok. I had a pistol a long time without a goby was new to the hobby at the time and never lost fish they are quite common in the aquarium trade because once fish dont go near their holes are fine, dont get more then one burrowing fish and a pistol

They are cool and all, but really would much rather have a cleaner shrimp. I got the same exact pair seen here and it’s been a total pain trying to get them out. Have tried baiting them with no luck.

Mines never paired up and went their separate ways😩

I bet that was so exciting!! I had a yellow watchman and a candycane pistol in my tank and unfortunately they never paired up :/
