Yelawolf on Leaving Eminem's Shady Records (Part 12)

Part 1: • Yelawolf on Thinking H...
--------
Yelawolf discussed his decision to leave Eminem's Shady Records and go independent. He touched on his work on the album 'Trial by Fire,' which he believes is one of the most important hip-hop country albums ever created. Having gone through a challenging process producing it, he felt it represented a paradigm shift in the Nashville music scene, blending hip-hop and country. Following his departure from Shady Records after the release of 'Trunk Muzik 3,' Yelawolf has been focusing on his own growth and building up his brand. He aims to follow his own creative path without being too concerned about chart positions or sales numbers, but only on producing quality music. His latest release, 'Mud Mouth,' might be his last in the hip-hop genre for a while, as he now plans to focus on rock and roll.

That Yelawolf and Caskey's album is the most slept-on album of that year. I listen to that album pretty consistently

Black sheep from multiple years ago? With millions of views like millions upon millions of views? Or are you just another one of those douche bags calling well loved and well listen to art, underrated? Also, you can sound like you have some insight to shit. Nobody else does, but really you’re just presenting your arrogance for everyone to see like you’re so fucking proud of it? And by the way, arrogance is just being extremely confident in your ignorance..

@2:30 he’s absolutely correct, but what he isn’t stating is that he, (Yelawolf) is the Epitome, Definition, “IS”, the Perfect Blend of Hip-Hop, Rock & Roll, & Country! The absolute perfect fusion of “Hip-Rock-Country”. Shoutout to CatFish Billy & the Slumerican Mob!
His verse on one train was SICK. Unforunately, you didn't hear much after he left Shady. So that's why you stay with the big labels to get exposure for 3 albums. Kinda sucks but he would be with the big dogs instead of fading to just the smaller fan base. No disrespect, I love this dude. Totally original, real, and raw. I skated with this dude back in the day in the A town.

I don't think he is slept on at all. I think he has a massive following and it's a grass roots blue collar fan base that also doesn't care what the main stream has to say. I introduce him to someone weekly and they are always impressed and then I found out later they have Rowdy in their workout list, You and Me rocking at the BBQ or their girlfriend loves American You. It's an understanding among fans. Listen to him daily.
I love Trial By Fire. I even wrote Yelawolf a long message about how amazing it was.

Yela is so real as an artist. I respect him so much for his authenticity and love for the craft. His music, whether it be hip hop, country, or rock and roll is all unique and enjoyable to listen to because it all comes from his heart. Fuck money, grammys and Spotify numbers, make music because you love it and nothing else.
I completely agree. Yelawolf is the King of this country hip-hop not just in Tennessee but in general. Hick hop is so corny, and we all know. Yelawolf can blend the genres in a way it's not cringe to listen to. He's a story teller, he can rap as well, he can flow, he's lyrical, he's a writer. I relate to what he says sometimes, where some country and most rap I can't relate to. I even like Devil in my veins without no rap I it. WLPWR hits the mark every time

Trial by fire is a classic it’s one of my favourite albums still play regularly
Trial by Fire, being exclusively produced by Yela, is maybe my favourite of his. He did an incredible job on it. Edit : it was incredibly underpromoted by the label too, which was weird at the time. The singles were tightly focused and you could see the vision. Shady/Interscope kind of dropped the ball on that one.
