Year Round Greenhouse Starts UNDERGROUND
We are building a Growing Spaces Geodesic Dome greenhouse and plan to make it a year round option for growing. In order to do this, we have to install an underground system for climate control (known as ground to air heat transfer ). This goes underground before the foundation goes in. This weekend we are finishing up the preparations for foundation footers. Watch our build from the ground up as we transform our Colorado mountain homestead at 9000 ft elevation into a self sufficient gardening paradise!

Just WOW!!! That’s all I can say. It’s great to be young. This is going to be fantastic.
Can't wait for those first sprouting greens guys, gonna be delicious built and grown with your own hands. Thanks for Sharing...
Can’t wait.
Labor of love.
Nice job Bryan laying out the footer and rebar with grade stakes. You should pass inspection no problem and on to pouring concrete. Good stuff happening 👏
Excellent job on the footers and the rebar.....grade stakes are a big plus and time saver....as a retired general contractor of 50 years I tip my hat to you guys for a beautiful job.
👍 Looks good, lot of work. I always add PVC sleeves during this stage by the entrance area and a couple elsewhere for any future underground routing of "whatever" with 6 to 8 inches on each side for capping and/or gluing to, same with cement walkways. Your vertical screed rebar can be butted up against your horizontal rebar and tied for extra stability of that (next time), it doesn't have to be center, or run your crossbars butted up to them and tie to those.
Hot work but vital to get it right as you have done as its the foundation - I'm looking forward to the concrete pour as it will be a major milestone and then you and us can get a scale on the size of the Veg ten!
... Impressed with the progression of your homestead ... Will there be sub-surface water supply lines as well ?? ,, seems that now would be a good time to install a system ,, as it would need to be below frost line ... What's Up ?? Supervisor Viggo on vacation ?? .. Maybe laying on a beach with a fancy drink with an umbrella ....
Hope the inspection goes well. I have concerns on the boulders.
This is very exciting. Have you considered issues with wild life and protecting the green house? Maybe it's a none issue, I don't know. Enjoy the Journey - Cheers
Little hint - I'll bet the inspector calls for more cross ties between those rods.
are you going to make a retaining wall for that big wall behind you so the rain doesnt wash the dirt into you greenhouse
Brian , could you just nail those rebar stands to a piece of flat wood planking like 1'' thick x 6''L long that way your rebar wouldn't fall off the stands
Hope you pass without any issues. Back in the day a good box of cigars would help pass the inspection. Lol
Hi kids!! I have a question!! I take it you are going to need water inside?? I would be putting a section of PVC pipe under where the concrete is going before it’s poured!! Going to need to keep the water from freezing!! Have a good weekend!! 🍺🍺
Are you guys still working fulltime jobs or are you retired?
6:46 The greenhouse doesn’t look very big.
It’s not cement trucks but concrete trucks cement is only fine grey dust concrete is cement, sand, and gravel
