He felt someone else with him too. Someone else within his thoughts. Strange - but it didn’t frighten him. For a brief, fleeting moment, he could see what it saw. A story he couldn’t understand flashed within his mind’s eye. Images of a small bird… a little fish… things he could not recognize… so many lifetimes of so many things. He saw behind and ahead all at once, and he saw others already gone and others unborn… And then it spoke. You did well. And then nothing. Not blackness, not darkness, not silence. The absolute lack of anything at all, something no mind can truly understand because it only occurs when consciousness itself ceases to exist. As quickly as the presence had made itself known, and before he could understand any of what he was seeing, it was all over.
