Year of Return: 126 African Diasporans granted Ghanaian Citizenship

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, on Wednesday, 27th November 2019, conferred Ghanaian citizenship on 126 Diasporans. The ceremony being part of the series of activities commemorating the ‘Year of Return’, the President stated that Ghana recognizes her position as the location for 75 per cent of the slave dungeons built on the West coast of Africa, through which the slaves were transported and it was time to grant the wishes of many who have returned and are contributing to Ghana's development in diverse ways.

Leigh Goodwin, MBA, for us it’s too much to simply enter a stupid store to be watched from entrance to exit, all disguised as “customer service” in most cases. I’m sure no black Americans are leaving the U.S. for this reason but I’m certain, given the all too frequent experience, they definitely think about it. When I travel outside the United States I definitely feel and witness the difference. That’s a fact!

Kwame Nkrumah lit the torch of unity, love and brotherhood among Africans and no one can dim no matter how long it tarries. This is good. But is Nigeria doing this? Is Cameroon doing this? Is Senegal doing this? Is Congo doing this? How about Togo, Angola, and Mali? More of us African Americans were stolen from those places than Ghana.

Because they aren't interested. Only Ghana and this government to be specific started this whole thing. Many African countries don't give a hoot.

Sis in Transition why don't you call up the embassies of Cameroon, Senegal, Congo, Angola, and Mali and ask them why arent they doing this? Because thats *none* of our concern. If they don't want to give out free citizenship well then that's their problem

I am so surprised you will have the thought of naming countries that didn't exist 400 years ago when the first slave was taken across the Atlantic, even if only one family was taken from Ghana we are welcoming that family back
