There’s something that gives me chills about having a Biggio, Halladay, Guerrero Jr, and Yastrzemski in the league again. I love it

A tip of the cap to the Red Sox fans for the warm Fenway Park reception given to Yaz when he was introduced at his first at bat and after his home run. His Dad had to be smiling from above. ⚾️
I was there. The audio quality in the video doesn’t do it justice, the place roared with applause when he hit that home run. Everyone was on their feet cheering, Giants fans and Red Sox fans alike. So cool.

That's when you know you're a legend. When they give a standing O to your grandson who plays on the opposite team.

Wow that's crazy, his grandfather will be happy and R.I.P his dad Carl Jr he would've been proud too
When they’re walking and talking in the outfield, it looked like the garden scene in The Godfather, when the Don gave the mantle and advice to his son, in this case his grandson. It gave The Godfather vibe. That’s awesome.

You can almost hear the conversation, hearing Carl give Mike some pointers about playing balls off the Monster.
He's great for baseball and for the city of San Fran. Looks like this guy is here to stay for a long time. Just like the ones before him.

If he keeps putting up good stats he will be expensive when it comes to contract renewal time. Plus this new GM that came over from the Dodgers is known not to play home town favorites when it comes to making trades, but ya, I hope he makes his career with the Giants

First game I went to at Fenway, September 1978, Carl had 2,999 hits. Went 0-4 and very nearly had a hit his last AB. Would have loved to see him hit his 3000th.

I'm a lifelong Giants fan but I am old enough to remember Carl playing. I remember I really liked him. I thought he was a very exciting player and I followed him. I think Mike will follow in his footsteps. What a perfect thing to homer in his first at bat in Fenway in front of Grandpa Carl.

Classy Red Sox fans!!! Were he the son/grandson of a Dodger great, he'd get booed in LA.
WOW, I was there.
Can't make this stuff up
Last time i saw Yaz live was that effing Bucky Dent game. Brother got me out of school and his friends and i went and got bleacher seats. Until that final sky high popup i thought he would drive in winning run. I didn't realize then it would be last live game i saw with Yaz in it.
that gave me goosebumps, just like when I watched his grandfather hit home runs
So after watching the Yankees Champange celebration I come over here to see this great video. the guy in the front row great looking hat. the kid on the first base side with the YAZ player t very cool. Pats are 1-2 against giants and the Red sox are 1-2 against Giants?
YAZ BOY..!!!
Super cool. It was 40 years ago that Grandpa got his 3,000th hit.
You can see the resemblance with his grandpa when they are next to each other.
Go yaz!!!
I couldn't watch the game but as a Red Sox fan seeing this is amazing
So odd to even see the Giants at Fenway. Gotta’ luv interleague, and even then, it’s not like it happens with the same teams every year. And Yaz hitting the HR in his granddad’s park... it had to be a special moment for the whole family.
Awesome wish my dad saw it !
I'm a die hard Yankees fan so of course I hate the Red Sox . But I always admired Yaz and to see this was like those commercials, Priceless
Oh No! A great baseball story. A great story.
Sweet swing.
in 1975 I watched Yaz in person for the first time (at tiger stadium), he stepped into the box and started waving his bat high above him and I thought no way how -can anybody hit like that ? The next pitch he sent a rocket into centerfield for a double. it was like Yaz was saying- thats how.
They don't show it here, but the guy who caught the HR ball was quite a character. Did his "boulevard strut" while being escorted to the clubhouse with the ball to make a trade. Seemed very happy when he returned.
Chills…
Not a BRS fan, but that was cool.
Wasn't Carl in the stands watching that game? Why didn't they show him?
Mike should pay a visit to TB12 to get some flexibility.
Still cool 😎
How did that guy in the red sox jacket end up with Yaz's HR ball. It landed about five rows behind him between two women, the replay shows him running up the stairs toward them. Hope he didn't strong arm them for the ball.
Imagine hitting a home run like that in front of your HOF grandfather
If Little Yaz somehow ended up playing for Boston, do you think they'd unretire #8 for him? I realize it's up to him and Big Yaz, but still.
31 home runs in 500+AB's. Late bloomer but he's a slugger for sure.
Honestly, as good as he maybe for the Giants, I'd DEFINITELY prefer that he be on the Red Sox, wearing number 85, 8 for Carl and 5 for himself, hopefully he gets traded to the Sox somewhere down the road!

As a Mets fan, I hope this new generation of Yaz can be traded to the red sox, maybe continue the line or something. But either way, even though I'm not sure how much Carl affected the Red Sox to make him such a prominent figure, but it's nice to see his grandson carry the torch.
