Welcome to the Break Free Homestead KZread channel, in today's video I assemble and review a 5.5ft Yard Tuff lawn tractor landscape drag.
This Landscape Drag can be used to level Gravel, Driveways, and yards.
I am towing the implement with a Husqvarna YT18542, it being a rear wheel drive hydro-static transmission I ran into some issues with traction or getting caught on larger roots or debris in the dirt. If you were to tow it with a larger unit or had 4x4 you might be able to power through the roots.
You can pick one up at Tractor supply or a nearly identical model by Titan Ramps, if you use this links it helps supports our channel but doesn't cost you any extra.

I just purchased one of these and going the drive bolts thru the front bar and use it rip up the the soil and the back bar will smooth it out. But I'm using it to smooth out a dirt road. Thanks for sharing and seeing how your worked out.....

I used one of these to level my gravel parking area and get out grass weeds it works but you really need to have the weight to the front. For the price it works well and I was using a 20HP Sears tractor.

Nice, the weight is pretty key but balancing it out to get traction is also a challenge.

I have one that I have used in the dirt and on gravel and it’s a trial and error thing! Moving the brick to the back for less digging and to the front to grind in deeper! Hope it helps.

Nice video, I have like 5 acres of land that was a corn crop for decades that I'm trying to smooth out, and I have ripped it up in the fall now wanna go in while the topsoil is soft and try to drag and smooth it out, been looking at this and the "chain link fence" ones, seems that this one will be the way the go. Great video value.

I see you're spinning some. When I had my snowblower on my tractor, I filled the rear tires with RV/plumbing antifreeze and it's incredible how it helped with traction for doing yard work in the summer too. I rotated the wheel so the valve stem was on top, removed the valve core, used a small pump and reduced the hose to something that would fit loose in the valve stem so that air could come out around the hose as I pumped liquid in. My last section was a short section wire insulation that I stripped off a 12/2 electrical wire. I filled the tired all the way to the valve stem. I think I managed to put 3.5 jugs per tire, so that's 28 litres in total or 28 Kg, that's roughly 60 lbs. Might not sound like a lot, but the weight is right on the tire where it's needed.

@@lyquidsnake4202 Not sure long term, but RV/plumbing antifreeze being mostly alcohol based and non-toxic, it's probably not as bad as some harsher chemicals.

Thanks for taking the time to make the video. Not sure how that patch turned out in the end, but I think I would cut a T fence-post to 6 inches segments and bolt 8 of them to the front the front rail. They would dig 4 inches deep to scar the soil, pulling up more dirt, which would be leveled and planed by the rear rail. I'm sure it'd be harder to pull but it would make all the difference in filling the low spots and leveling. Just a thought...

I was going to add that note as well. It appears they work as stops for the pavers/blocks so they can't slide off the device. I am using the flat pavers.

Nice video mate👍 One tip, try going slower (half your speed max) when grading/dragging. It will eliminate the bounce in the drag and provide a smoother finish.

Interesting, I’d love to level my yard and this seems to fit the bill. I thought about doing it by hand by my yard is 15K sq ft. Any chance you can test this by spreading soil/sand over existing grass to see how it performs? I have a nice established lawn and just want to level it.

Ryan Schultz - For what it's worth, use a pallet! Pure and simple, particularly if the lawn is already established. The pallet will be less intrusive/destructive. ;-) Tip: Use the pallet side that only has 3 boards.
