When we think we have already suffered the worst defeat of the season, the Yankees surprise us with something more disastrous like today's game. Simply incredible.

@@VladimirMesa I was at the other “worst” defeat - when Holmes also blew a two-run lead in the ninth, needing only one strike to seal the deal. It was vs. the Red Sox on July 6th. That was brutal. Even worse, I got there an hour and a half early to get the Costanza bobble-head and they were already gone. So not even a consolation prize trinket for Holmes’ horrible blown save. I think today’s loss was even worse, but at least I didn’t pay big bucks to experience it! Again, poor Ben Rice.

Holmes did pitch badly but he did his job by inducing that grounder to Volpe. And then induced that catchable fly ball to Verdugo. So he didn’t pitch well, but definitely well enough for the Yanks to go into the AS Break on a big high in 1st place. I feel really sorry for Rice! He should be celebrating now as the big hero of this game.

Whenever I see Holmes take the mound, I gotta say I always like the other teams chances from that point on. A hit, two walks, Volpe's bungle and then Verdugo's Vaudeville show? Volpe has been getting errors all year but since he's the golden child nobody can ever criticize him. This team does none of the litte things right. They don't run the bases well, they barely throw people out on the bases, they don't defend, they get runners on base and they don't hit or atleast move guys over, they can't even bunt, they can't close games, they can't throw strikes. This team is either home run or bust on most nights. Could we make a serious case for verdugo getting traded and playing Grisham when Giancarlo come back and eventually Dominguez. Maybe I'm overreacting but atleast when Grisham gets legit playing time he can give us some home runs since that's all we can do anyway lol. We might as well try to get something for Verdugo whos probably an all around better player.

Only a few years ago, it was the Yankees winning games in last at-bats. All the great Yankees games since 1996 had great comebacks in late innings. This team is a head scratcher. Terrible infield defense, little leaguer mistakes in the outfield, too many walks. Can’t count on any pitcher to give us six innings and their replacements are spotty to terrible at best. It’s truly amazing we are only a game back in second place. Red Sux coming in strong though - second half will be tough. We need some help.

Its not so bad. The yankees almost swept the orioles and would have if not for two fielding errors. I mean that's not bad.

Life long Sox fan native New Yorker my dad born and raised in Boston that’s why I’m a Sox fan lived in Philadelphia for 30 years Holmes is like Mitch Williams from the Phillies he either strike out the side in the 9th or cough up a 5 run lead in the 9th you never know what you are going to get and you can’t have that in a closer Philly fans covered there eyes when he pitched Holmes is the same

Trade Holmes and rodon for prospects to the O's😅. Seriously though, two reputable bullpen guys and another bat for these bums would more than suffice

Holmes didn't blow the save let's be honest he got 5 outs that inning the defense let him down

That’s a really bad take. He had two walks, and he created the situation in which the pressure was on the defense.

@@PinstripeTerritory I'm not saying he pitched well I'm saying the last two plays of the game were a weak ground ball and a flyball with a 99% catch probability and neither were outs.

It’s Boones job to lie . Would you lie for that amount of money? We all know he has a bad temper just look at how he is with the umpires. But I’m guessing the front office doesn’t care about the umpires. He was brought in to be a woke manager, if you will.in my opinion I don’t think he is allowed to manage anything. I’m sure he’s not making the line up. Don’t get me wrong I don’t like it. But I think that’s the world we live in now
