It is impossible to not cry when he says I just hope god has a place where he can run again, where he can play practical jokes on his teammates, and smile that boyish smile, because god knows nobodys perfect. There is something special about heroes. so long mick

My all time baseball hero no one even comes close. Magnificent ball player who came to the end of his life in a magnificent way. A hero all his life and especially at the end with dignity , courage and grace. I was 44 yrs old when he died and I cried like a baby. Mick was more a part of many of us than any ball player ever. Always will be.

Mickey was 110% class act an one of my all-time favorite people and athletes ever, but it makes me sad in a way that he was so down on himself after he retired. But I think retirement was so difficult for him because of his love for baseball - the first love of his life he says. I truly hope that he made peace with himself before he departed; such a great man.

I remember my father taking me to Yankee stadium when I was 4 years old. I'm old now and a lot of that day is faded in my memory, but the clearest memory I have is my dad telling me...."look, thats number 7, that's The Mick." Mickey Mantle.....a legend that brings tears to my eyes!!

Mantle had about 30 rbi in his first 35 games which wasn't too shabby...if he played a full season, he would have 100 rbi's...in 1952 he came in third for mvp...the two players ahead of him were pitchers...

Maybe someone can help me, but what I’ve never understood is what group of idiots would put anything in the outfield that might cause a Yankees to step on and break his damn neck? Didn’t the idiots know that the greatest players they had played out there? Just mind boggling ignorance.
