I wish more closers had Mariano’s mentality and poise. He was fun to watch and the epitome of a baseball.

With all due respect to Mr. Ford, may he Rest In Peace, but Mo is the greatest Yankee pitcher of all time AND the greatest closer of all time in Major League Baseball history. He handled himself with class and elegance his entire career

So glad I met him warming up in the Yankee bullpen in summer 2003 at the old Yankee stadium. So friendly and down to earth.

Not to mention the best closer in history, but he did it where the lights shined the brightest in pinstripes, not many can say that…

The word ''on the grapevine'' about Rivera in his hometown La Chorrera , Panama was that he was telling folks that he had not received any pay from the NY YANKS. He was probably ducking the folks that were always dogging him for loans. BTW I have an authentic #42 Rivera T shirt since the 1990s.

Mister automatic was lights out. 1996 was his first full season. Then in 1997 he became the full time closer.
