Subaru had emotional support aka Rem while Emilia had no one

Emilia is broken here just like how Subaru is after his encounter with Betelguese and the mansion deaths over and over again. The grief of seeing his loved ones dead broke his mind. In fact he just resorted to wanting to run away with Rem. With Emilia being so naive, this probably worsened that effect even further, especially after being rejected by the village. Now. Linking this back to the scene where we saw Satella devouring everything with her darkness; I think that this scene was JUST before Emilia became possessed by the Witch of Envies Dark Side, as Betelguese also said that Emilia was a perfect candidate to resurrect Satella. Now, I have a whole theory on the story. Of why the Witch is obsessed with Subaru & Why he is suspected to be the Sin of Pride by Betelguese aswell as the excitement from Typhon, the Witch of Pride to see him. I suspect that Subaru has been summoned into the world before, maybe when he was a kid. Subaru used to want to be the leader of the pack. Taking pride in being his father's son, so what if in that summoning, HE WAS Pride & a lot stronger than he currently is now because of it. Maybe he was the one who helped Satella end all the other witches. Maybe this is all like an Alice in Wonderland Returns scenario where he has been here before, with no recollection of it. Maybe he is subconciously in love with Emilia, because in his previous summoning he was in love with Satella. That's why the Witches all seem so familiar with him, especially Typhon who calls him Baru. Like some kinda kid buddy. Which is the REAL reason he had been skipping school and holding up in his room! because of the trauma the world had left him with.

@@achair5201 yeah, I'll look into them when the anime comes to an end. (Or when i feel like these different IF routes won't spoil any upcoming characters) I religiously don't want to spoil it for myself because I think the experience is so much better with life. With voices & music. Ambiance. It's really fun to try and figure this stuff out while watching and so far i completely understand. It's obvious someone in the cult knows about his ability to anticipate their actions or about his return by death, so they've purposely targeted Subaru in more places than one at specific times to counter him. It's like there are two ticking bombs of events waiting to go off and i think rather than focusing on both places, he needs to focus on one to move things along faster. Really can't wait to see how he comes out from this.

She went insane,Like what roswaal said,he was trying to isolate elimia. When subaru left to go to the mansion,she thought that subaru abandoned her,this made her feel useless and weak. So she tried to do the trials with no breaks. And remember when she breaks down when she didn't complete the trial? she gets traumatized. Without anyone confronting her she went insane. When subaru did returned She was already gone. She thinks that subaru is the only thing that matters. Because "he returned."

Man the fact that subaru was just staring at her with hopelessness in his eyes and he couldn't even utter a single word while she goes on and on even while subaru's body is bleeding and he's drowning in his own blood makes this creepy as hell. but god damn rei takahashi executed it so damn well i had goosebumps when i first watched this scene

Emilia was holding his tracksuit jacket before Subaru returned for the final time. I bet he had to give it to her so he could leave in the first place. Emilia probably turned crazy as well in the past loops. Subaru is completely backed into a corner and what does the mastermind of all of this is pushing him to do that only he can do?

Well Subaru went to Mansion and left a letter to explain things to her. But the letter couldn't reach her so she thought that Subaru abandoned her. She went to the chamber and took the trial over and over again untill it broke her mind completely. Subaru was always there to save her before, since now he was gone, she thought no one will come save her anymore and she went insane.

And the reason she seems so obsessed with Subaru here is because Puck is gone and he's the only person she can rely on now. She doesn't exactly trust anybody else very much. So while taking the trial with both of the people she trusted abandoning her, she hyperfixated on them to get the strength to keep running the trial.

I was creeped out in a good way at this part. I'm actually starting to love Yandere Emilia, Rieri did a good job.

This whole season was so well done

This scene is so dark it gave me goosebumps when i realized Subaru is already dead when she kissed him

The fact that in the anime Subaru did not respond to Emilia like he did in the light novel, trying to stay a little longer with Emilia while he was dying, is even scarier, gives away much more eerie and real feeling.

I still feel the chills

One thing that this anime did really well is showing what it looks like when you lose your mind… How it looks like when you broke someone… By now Subaro lost his mind quite a few times but always recovered… Actually fascinating how much he managed to endure while still staying kind/friendly…

This scene hurts beyond what words can describe

In this scene it’s almost like he got his idealized version of her. The main heroine love interest in games that guys think that they have to push themselves hard for, and will always be cheerful no matter what

The scariest part is that she isn't being agressive or violent like a typhical yandere she's acting like cheery clingy haremnette

Most people would abandon her, But isn't that's too cruel. She no longer have anyone but you. Leaving her just because she a bit broken is just irresponsible and evil. Meanwhile, (my inner self) my Amor Fati thinking: This is great! It can't get worse than this, all condition is met. She just need a good education. I can now shape her to my perfection.
