Yamato - Historical Build with
Ойындар
Welcome back to the Battleship League where I have teamed up with Drachinifel to build a historically accurate replica of the Japanese battleship Yamato in the game Ultimate Admiral Dreadnoughts. This powerful vessel served during World War II and was one of the largest and most powerful battleships ever built. In this video, we will be using all of the available tools and resources to bring the Yamato to life as accurately as possible within the game, using historical blueprints, photographs, and other references to ensure that our replica is as faithful to the real ship as possible.
But our work doesn't stop there! We also plan to put the Yamato to the test in battle against other historical ships from World War II. This will give us a unique opportunity to see how the Yamato stacks up against other famous vessels from the era and find out which ship was truly the best of World War II. We will be using all of the available tools and resources to accurately represent the capabilities and strengths of each ship in the game, so that we can get a fair and accurate comparison.
We hope you will join us for this exciting project and showdown between some of the most iconic ships in history. Be sure to tune in and see which vessel comes out on top!

Nice in game recreation of the yamato tho. Once this series is over I think it's be a fun idea to do a league for CA's and/or CL's
A note on the Yamato's 25mm guns. I think they were L/60s
Next series should be the SA Dreadnoughts or Alaska Vs Division 1
this whole video series should just be renamed "drach and bro fail to put turrets where they're supposed to be"
As well as the problems discussed with getting Yamato's gun performance up to scratch, some of Yamato armour stats were wrong , she had a 16.1 inch belt not 16 inch (Musashi had 16 inch belt, but I think had thicker deck armour). Yamato also had 19.7 inches on the conning tower not 16 as you gave it.
Woot! Should be a great time! Very well reproduced Yamato! PS Hope you are feeling better BrotherMunro!
This ship's model makes me happy to see it.
Did you check main turret rotation speed after you dumped all the world’s armor on them?
When it came to the refit it is just a case of find anywhere a 25mm gun will fit and bolt it down.
Been waiting for this for ages
I gonna predict this early. Yamato will win the division with very little effort. And if I'm wrong, feel free to come back to this comment and ridicule me for my hubris. Me after seeing the results: Ahh crap. Also, I know it is too late to comment on, but crew quarters dictate how much crew you have on board. So sliding the scale so early in the design, has the chance not to give you the correct crew number.
Gorgeous ship!
30:35 Wiki says they were 18.1”/46L

if you set it too the correct length the range is wrong at the current build its 13% length to get 25 miles of range\

i like how they got it right in this version of the game but in newer versions you cant have imposed turrets at the little decline there.
interesting!!
Should have made the 5 inch turrets into tgr 4.9s
I guess that's cool, if you want to make something that looks as close as the game will allow to the historical Yamato, but we all know for the purposes of in-game performace it's neither the most practical nor effective. Although saying that, it would be just awesome if the game were to include some air defence missions.

Pretty sure it's on navweps somewhere. The test wasn't really indicative of how an Iowa's guns would have performed against a Ysmato's armour, because the test was also conducted after the war, with a version of the Super Heavy Shell that the Iowa's never carried during the war, and it was conducted at point blank range, hilariously close. So it wasn't a super objective test. The US Navy was more curious about Japanese armour, and these plates gave them something to trial.
If Yamato doesn't win this division then... well, given how the previous rounds have gone it wouldn't surprise me but it would be very odd indeed

Poor Radar & slow ROF could hurt her vs Iowa, Game wise at least the 16" is generally a more reliable weapon.
@Hastur_the_King_in_Yellow
Жыл бұрын
@@ad3z10 It can, but even then it only takes one or two hits to come out on top E.g., I recently tested an 18" BC with T1 Radar vs Dunkerque w/ T2. Even though it had half the fire rate, worse accuracy, got the shit kicked out of it and Dunk was built with 15+" of total belt/deck, it only took two shots to core Dunk like an apple.
@ad3z10

@@Hastur_the_King_in_Yellow Interesting, I feel like it will have 100% win rate as a player controlled ship but I worry for the AI if it tries to kite. I did also realise that Yamato's secondaries may actually come into play vs thinner armour as fully lengthened 6" guns should go through 1.5" of armour from a decent range which will help out the accuracy difference a bit by chipping away at the enemy.
Woooo
I'm Currently doing the campaign as japan, and building this battleship while following the steps in the vid, but for some reason the 4" now don't fit on superstructure above the 5" and the huge barbettes don't appear on the slope on the hull. Is this a bug or by design?
how do you get the displacement so precise? every time i hit enter it just resets
@BrotherMunro

You have to leave the beam and draught at zero when you type in the displacement or the numbers go all weird
Did this require any mods or was it done with the vanilla game? Because it really does look exactly like Yamato!

What is the exact main gun firerate on this version of the Yamato?
@Jtretta
Жыл бұрын
I think either Drach or the BB New Jersey channel did a video on the reloading of BB caliber guns. The general consensus was that larger guns would average about 1 round per minute, but could sustain near 2 for short bursts. The limiting factor was mostly the amount of ammunition on hand in the turret barbette, as more rounds would need to be drawn from surrounding magazines. Moving ammo from those spaces would slow firing dramatically. I apologize that my answer is a bit vague, it is the best I can give.
you were using the modern hull. You need to use the super hull
2:00 Beam and draught sliders are both at 0 but don’t line up with each other. Makes my eyes twitch.
I notice that the main guns are Mk3. Is that accurate? As Yamato was not laid down until 1937 she should have had fairly modern guns.
@BrotherMunro

Nothing we can do about that - mark 3 is the best you can get for 16” and up in custom battles
@dougjb7848

@@BrotherMunro That’s inane. At least all 16” gun ships will have the same disadvantage. And with Vanguard carrying WW1-era 15” guns, yet another advantage handed to Bismarck.
49 inches of penetration seems a bit excessive, I mean, even with 60% resistance from turtleback by Bismarck, even 39 inches is a lot
@BrotherMunro

Remember that’s base pen, it gets reduced by the armour quality (we assumed an average of 150% which is a factor of 2.5) so 49” becomes 19.6”
the optical rangefinders on the main turrets are so very wrong it is annoying.

84.4% engine efficiency 😬
I always find it odd when seeing presumably non-American's using Inches instead of Millimeters in reference to naval gun size/armor thickness in this game and world of warships. Not picking on you, just an odd observation when watching your videos. I'm American, but I always use metric in reference to ships lol. So half the time I'm just like wtf is that in mm? Sidenote: why not give the Yamato Heavy shells, it may have slowed the velocity/reload but would perhaps up the penetration.
@BrotherMunro
Жыл бұрын
I’m used to inches thanks to Warhammer. Whilst metric units are vastly superior for most purposes, inches are a very natural unit for naval combat of this era (and what was used at the time by the Royal Navy)
Damn. And in new versions of game you wouldnt be able to keep pitch and roll so damn low. That sucks

Literally everyone who i see in ultimate admiral outs the bow guns too far forward, the stern guns to far rearward, and lots of other shit that makes their ships look retarded.
If Russia had built the Yamato they would have used the extra space for saunas and indoor swimming pools.
Just use Wikipedia next time lol
this stupid game cant even do an accurate Yamato 1945, and the description on steam says we can build an accurate Yamato 1937....
