Yamaha YXZ 1000r Engine Oil Change

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Finally hit the magic 20 hour break in period on my 2017 YXZ 1000r. As part of the first 20 hour service, I changed the engine oil and thought I would add a quick video walking through of the process.

My tip is take your impact you have and loosen that oil tank bolt. I do it all the time and it's such a fast jolt to loosen it doesn't bend

That tank is a candidate for an aftermarket tank with thicker walls.

I would agree. It felt pretty soft. I have only seen 1 aftermarket option that was quite a bit bigger. Not sure if there are others but one that would drop into the same place without requiring rework would be a good option.

I changed oil today and after I drained it, I added nearly two and half quarts, then instead of revving the engine 3-5 times, I let it idle for about 30 seconds before I added the last little bit.( i filled oil filter with oil like you said). Do you think that was ok? It rode excellent!

How often do you change the oil/ transmission oil and diff oil on these things? My machine has 2800 miles on it.

Hey Devlin, thanks for watching. I am traveling right now for work and don't have the manual with me but I believe the recommendation is every 20 hours. I will confirm when I get back home and let you know.

I just got done changing my oil and I noticed there's an extra o-ring in the oil filter box. There was an o-ring on the oil filter itself also did I mess up does this thing belong somewhere???

Hmm, odd. How big was the O Ring? This should be no different than doing an oil change on a car. No extra O Ring should be anywhere.

In the Box for the oil filter it look like an oil filter o-ring and then two other washers looks like possibly extra drain plug washers

The oil filter had its own O ring already on it that I oiled up I'm guessing it's fine... there's no leaking. I got this from the dealer as an oil change kit maybe just extras come in the kit

@@danpmatz It's possible then that it was just an extra though still seems weird. The filter should already have it's own O ring gasket. Not sure why they would provide an extra. I get the extra crush washer in a kit but O ring seems strange. Did you check the old filter to make sure it didn't fall off when removing? I have had that happen to me before. Also had one stick to the surface of the block on my car once.

@@RoughRidersTV it was in a plastic wrapper. The O-ring and both Jam washers or each in their own individual packages. But the oil filter itself already had an o-ring on I remember oiling it up so I'm sure it's okay

You don’t have to but it does help it thin out so it flows out easier. I do it with all my vehicles as it gets more of the old oil out.
