Rough Riders

I'm an Electronic Engineer by training and have worked in the tech sector for nearly 30 years alongside Microsoft, Intel, AMD, Samsung, Dell, HP and more. However, this channel is about sharing my passions for the outdoors, including going off road/riding dirt bikes, camping in our teardrop trailer and other outdoor activities. You will also find honest product reviews (some tech and some just stuff I bought) and "How To" videos as I do most of my own repairs and upgrades on my toys and around the house. I do not get paid by or sponsored by companies, so I try to be objective on all my reviews sharing the good/bad so you can get the real scoop before you spend your hard earned money.

Got questions/comments/tips, post 'em, I try to respond to all comments and questions as best I can.

Hopefully you enjoy these videos and they help you along the way.

Thanks for watching and please subscribe!

    Great review. Thank you for pointing out the weld issues. That's something most people skip over, but you're assessment is correct. Debating on this and the ready ramp. Prefer the mesh on this, but want something that I can throw in the back of the truck, shake the piss out of on a dirt road, and know that it's not going to fatigue and break.

  • @RoughRidersTV
    @RoughRidersTV18 күн бұрын

    Thanks for watching. Surprisingly enough it is still holding up well. None of the welds have broken loose yet. I have since bought my wife a quad so we use these to load her quad as well. The only thing that has happened and it's not a fault of the ramps is that some of the webbing dented a little bit. However, that is because I used them to load a 300lb double oven on a refer dolly. The dolly has narrow, hard wheels that didn't line up with the center beam when I loaded it so one wheel was off center and the weight of the oven on such a small area caused the webbing to dent some. But even then the welds held so I can't really complain given the price point.

    There is also an upgrade to this fix, Samsung recommends to add a heater line to the defroster.. However, that drain can also be clogged from a bug, or spider climbing up through the bottom, a blower and air compressor is needed to blow the drain out, and flush it with hot water.. until water flows very well.. 👍

    It's an evaporator core... Not a condenser.. the condenser is in the bottom of the refrigerator. Next to the compressor.

    Advice. Learned the hard way- double check make sure you have the vertical bar on your MDX. My 2014 doesn’t even have it and I cannot mount this cooler anywhere. I’m out $180 as oem prices have doubled and I should have bought the full kit that comes with the bar

  • @RoughRidersTV
    @RoughRidersTVАй бұрын

    @@lighthouseministries7 I really don't think you can go wrong with either. Both are great smokers and I used that Bradley for 6 years without complaint. It always produced great food. Now that I've had more time on the RecTeq, I do like it a little bit more. The more open cook space makes larger cuts of meat easier to smoke and the phone app is great at seeing temps without having to go outside. But at 2x the cost, I would expect more features and capabilities and that's why it's not really a fair comparison between the 2. If you cold smoke (cheese, fish, etc.), the Bradley wins hands down. It is a much better cold smoker than the RT.

    What are you getting for fuel consumption? What is the fuel capacity? Thanks.

  • @RoughRidersTV
    @RoughRidersTVАй бұрын

    It holds about 4 Gallons. It's stock motor and exhaust so it sips fuel. We can go a long time between refueling. I don't have milage range, but I can go hours plowing the streets and do that multiple days before having to put in more gas. On trails, we will get 3+ day rides in before needing to refuel.

    8:15 you wouldn't be using pucks all the way through a smoke with the bradley though. I tend to use them for the first hour or two, and maybe the last hour if I toss in some pit beans. Other than that, great video!

  • @RoughRidersTV
    @RoughRidersTVАй бұрын

    Fair point. I would typically max out things at 6 hours on the smoke. Anything over that would not get absorbed by the meat. When I did Brisket, I would burn pucks for 6 hours and then the element do the rest. Ribs, I would do 5 hours all smoke. Never really did anything less than 5 hours. But you are right, costs do drop once you stop burning pucks...I should have accounted for that in the video.

  • @codemonkey6173
    @codemonkey6173Ай бұрын

    @@RoughRidersTV No worries, it's a very informative video. I sent it to a friend asking about pellets vs bradley. I've owned two bradleys I've been very happy with. When doing larger pieces of brisket I'm usually ending up around 12+ hours in the bradley. One of my biggest complaints with the bradley is the low thermal mass. If I add pit beans mid smoke, it takes too long (imo) to bring temps back up.

    The Bradley is originaly designed to smoke fish (like sea bas, salmon, makrel) every time the same way (consistant), from cold smoking to 248F with exact 20min smoke puks. Fish, Cheese Beef Jerkey and so on for 1.20 $ an hour (no electricity not counted). Where the Pellet Grill is a grill who can also smoke, and comes as close as it gets to an original off set smoker, where heat and smoke come from the same source. Two totally different 'cuisines'.
