I agree. It's extremely rare. I did find a newish soundbar by Denon that was released a few months ago which has a sub out too. I want a soundbar with sub out myself.

Agreed. This is a must have for me amd it's so rare.

My soundbar came dead out of box. The circuit board required replacement. The SB is now installed after repair and works very well. The Alexa feature takes 2 minutes to set up and HDMI connection can be easily controlled by TV remote - TCL 65s546. Supersounding SB as we do not want the walls rattling. Perfect voice and picks up all small instruments in use on music. I use the stereo function as every concert I have attended has a wall of speakers in front right and left. Not sure why anyone requires surround for music. I do not game or watch superhero movies.

Just found a deal on the 109 that is about the same price as the 108 so just went with that. Thanks for the review!

Max level distortion is kinda normal for something like this, should never run full max on any stereo/speaker, a few clicks down from the distortion point is usually a good place to hang out gives you some wiggle room. I'm no expert but I've tuned a few bangin systems.

Nice reviews. Question: I have a new LG 4k with Dolby Atmos. will this soundbar work well my my TV? Will the Atoms improve this soundbar or now dif?

I mean to be honest u might hear a difference but it won't be mind-blowing. It's also a new selling point that these companies try to push.

Should’ve went into detail, ATOMs capability?

save your money and get the upgrade the 109 constantly shuts itself off if it's idle for too long and it's not that long of a time. Unless there's a way to turn off that bug/feature.

I love the sound glad to see that it’s ported that definitely helps performance! Also if you ever want to test mainly bass the song Bass Monster by Psyph Morrison is a great one. It’s not really a song you would listen too normally but it can seriously flex woofers. Love the vid!

I'm looking to buy this for the sub out feature. I have a klipsch r100s powered sub so I'm good on that end. Right now I'm debating between the Yas 109 and the jbl 550wat soundbar with10inch sub. Again I have a powered sub I'm just looking for loud highs JBL 499 Yas 109 399 Not on a specific budget Thoughts?

Do you have to wall mount it?

I have a 26 inch Samsung TV and got a Bose Solo5 unit as the built in speakers were not exactly great. I recently had to replace the Bose unit as it wouldn’t turn on and then would not turn off and ended up making very funny buzzing noises like an angry wasp before it died.The difference between the Yamaha and the Bose is noticeable, Yamaha seem to put a bit of thought into things and it shows. Sadly the Bose unit was ok but not as good as it could have been. The setup is fairly easy and the app is definitely worth having on your phone. I would suggest spending a little time trying out the presets to see what works for you. The Yamaha name is very discreet on the front of the unit, it’s a sensible weight of about 5KG and quite solid. I would wait a while before deciding to get an extra bass speaker as you might decide it’s fine for you as it is. My only query is adjusting the built in Alexa, it works ok but the unit won’t allow me to change the location, not a big problem but one that would be nice to sort. Once again Yamaha have shown why they are so popular and well regarded around the globe.

I dont think you can since it's meant to play audio from a source not as a pass through but im an android guy so can't say for 100% certain

I'm looking at buying a soundbar. I'm torn between this YAS 109 , YAS 107 or the Denon DHT s-216. I have a YAMAHA NS SW300 subwoofer which I'll be connecting to the soundbar. I'll only be using the soundbar while watching TV or when I'm to lazy to turn on my 6.1 system 😂. Also the soundbar will be used most of the time unless I'm watching a good movie because it uses a lot less electricity than my SONY STR DN1020. It's all about saving electricity

How many watts of output power?

Is the sound better with the 5" wide facing out (wall mount) vs laying down on a stand . It seems in one case the speakers will either facing toward you or facing the ceiling. Thanks

Im debating from my home theater (pioneer 140 watts per channel, 5.1) with polk audio n kilpsh 8" powered sub Im thinking of the Yamaha 109 so I cabn use my klipsch powered sub, my only concern is the highs clearity , and overall loudness on the 109... thoughts I mainly will use this for music playback

Most reviews I've seen say the bass is terrible in this (maybe being too picky for a £250 bar) - I think you've shown us that this is definitely good enough for my TV. I have much better speakers for my music so I shall buy this one, thank you!

@@KosherTech It came today and I've had chance to test it out. Overall the build quality and the aesthetic is excellent, so I'm pleased it will fit nicely in a modern room, it's not out to make a statement, it's just fitting in. Sound quality for movies is also up to expectations for such a cheap bar, the voices are most clear to me in the movie mode, but full of echoes in most of the other settings. Bass response is excellent, but cinema experience this is not. Gunshots and explosions have a decent thump to them and as a whole package it is quite pleasing. Music however is its biggest letdown - but not its main use case, fortunately. I found the vocals to be muddy and the highs not quite high enough, and the bass to be too dominant, despite not having much punch, even after playing with all the settings. Still passable compared to its competition though. At quiet volume levels the sound improves dramatically, but isn't suitable for a larger room I also have a Sonos play soundbar and wireless subwoofer in my other living room, so I am quite spoilt in that department, so that shall remain my primary sound experience for music. Overall the Yamaha gets a 4/5 for me and I am impressed with such a cheap bar

LG sub will work with this soundbar. It can be any SUB manufacturer doesn't have to be Yamaha

Great review! Because this soundbars speakers face the ceiling when it's sitting on a tv unit, do you think it reduces the sound quality or how immersive it is compared to similar quality soundbars with speakers pointing towards you?

i've got the same bass problem with 107

Thanks for the review..I had a lg 2.1 320w and it was amazing!! But it had issues with subwoofer randomly getting unpaired and it's very difficult to pair it back..so was looking for one without a sub but I love bass..thinking of buying this one. Do you think it will be close to the LG one ? Covid 19 is making me think twice to visit the store for a comparison demo..another qstn.. Can we disable Alexa ? I already have another alexa device in my living room.

Great review man! Should I buy the 109 or spend an extra 50 bucks and get the JBL 2.1 deep base. Like I think the 109 is a better sound at by itself and I’m leaning towards that but do u think it’s a better idea to get the JBL with the sub? Thanks!

Brah brah get either the 109 or 209. The 209 comes with a sub and remember u can always add a sub to the 109.

Yas-109 or yas-207? I know the 207 has a sub but I live in a condo and its too much power so I always have to have it on one of the lower/lowest settings. With the 109 the mids are better and I can put it on my stand and wont rumble the ground. But what you think my guy?

@@KosherTech , Okay Kosher i just hooked her up and im impressed with it , she packs a good punch for a stand alone bar so bang for buck it is excellent , exactly the reason i got her without the hassle of hefty sub woofers and speakers wired up all over the place . She struggles a little when the volume rises above 60 but thats fine , its plenty enough volume in a small to medium room so money well spent ..... i cant justify spending big bucks on an audio set up the same price as my tv.. the only time i ever do that is with a good quality dslr lens to my camera bodies .............cheers bud , hope this helps Kev from Australia

Hey, I am planning to buy soundbar for my PC which has 4K monitor (BenQ EW3270U) as well. My motherboard has 5+ Optical S/PDIF port for audio (Realtek ALC1200 Codec). This soundbar will be in my bedroom and I don't want 5.1 speaker setup. So I have rounded off few soundbars in a price range I can invest, can you suggest which one should I pick or if you have any other in this range that I should consider, that would be really helpful. P.S. I am not keen on thumping bass from woofer, just looking for crystal clear audio, channel separation, clarity and good mix of high, mid and lows. Anything else apart from this will be added bonus. Sony HT-X8500 2.1 - Dolby Atmos YAMAHA YAS-109 2.1 - Dobly Digital/ DTS Virtual X Polk Audio Signa S2 2.1 - Dolby Digital (with wireless Subwoofer) Thanks

Hi KT, I am a UK viewer o.f your video. I sent a Sonos Beam back as it wasn't giving me $399 worth of sound difference with my Samsung 55" Q95T. You have to enable it as a Bluetooth device and then via the app you enable Alexa

I'll take either the YAS108 or 109 anytime over the Bose solo 5. Go with Yamaha you'll love it. Also check out the Polk Magnfii Mini, it's also pretty beast.

Great review man! I’ve spent two hours trying to figure out how to use the YAS 109 with headphones. I was told that it absolutely WILL work with headphones - probably Bluetooth only. Please please advise. I’m not a Soundbar pro. This is my first one.

1st impressions are great! The biggest thing I've noticed is not to trust the "music" button, movie or TV both make music sound better and overall this soundbar sounds great! I find it sounds especially good while watching any show or movie with music in it, it separates both perfectly so that you can easily hear both without one over stepping the other and i can confirm the 3d audio is booty keep that shit off lol

KosherTech I’ll look into that. I should have mentioned. The reason I was looking at the YAS 108/109 is the subwoofer out feature. My current soundbar has that feature and it’s paired with the Klipsch R-100SW.

@@raymondkhan2709 I have purchased it. I have it in my game room so it’s not a very large room. As far as loud, it’s not bad, not sure how it would do in a large living room. I will say, the built in subwoofers are not impressive at all. I did pair it with a Yamaha 10” wired sub so that made a big difference. It doesn’t hit as hard as the Klipsch sub.

You really need an external subwoofer to go with this. The soundbar woofers just can't handle the bass. I have the Polk Audio PSW10 sub with this bar - put the soundbar subwoofer to -1. All the bass goes to the PSW10 and it's a really nice sound for the price.

The JBL comes with a sub. It is hard to compare. But if u just take both of those soundbars I would go with the Yamaha YAS 109 or 108

I have a jbl 2.0 soundbar and no distortion with max bass and max volume. That distortion on this supposed "best" sound bar sounds pretty gross imo 👎🏻
