    Air cooled, fuel injection, simple valve adjustment, helmet lock, decent set of tools, strong proper length side stand, easy to maintain, good dealer support, low entry price… When I watch too much yoo toob and dissatisfaction starts to set in a bit I go watch Mori san ride his (Mori TV) and realize I have some skills to learn yet that won’t be fixed by buying more of all the things ha ha Thanks for the video - your XT is nicely set up for what you want.

    Nice rundown on your gear. I have the same style rack and it fit up very good. I went on an overnight camp in the woods and carried my Small Yeti Cooler and Sleeping bag on it. I have the Clear Parabellum Windshield that I really Like. Going for the Bark Busters and Skid Plate install over the winter in the shop. Cool.

    I got a 2022. I really enjoy the stock tires, I am on my 2nd set. I’ve been in it all, rain snow mud never a problem, I even did about 10miles in deep sand, we all struggled that day but they got me there and back. I got 6k out my first set, pretty good value for the money. The Trail Wing name covers many tires I don’t think the 301(G,F)/302 are the ones synonymous with the term death wings but I could be wrong.

    Thanks for making this video. I just subscribed. Rocky Mtn ATV website didn't have a Tusk DSport that was "machine specific' for my 2019 XT250. However, they sell a 120/90-18 and a 90/90-21. Are those the sizes you bought? Also, are these hard to install DIY? Thanks.

    You're welcome, thanks for watching! Yes, those are the sizes and the tires are awesome! I run the same tires on my CRF300L and just got a new set to go on my DR650. I've heard they can be a pain to install due to thick side wall.

    @@precipiceofgrind Ive always eyeballed the modern XT250. The frugality and design is awesome. Definitely underrated. I do wish it had better suspension stock. As in adjustable. I have a 1983 XT250 that I’ve been modifying throughout the years. Like the modern XT its light and has a low seat height and grinds the technical terrain here in New England really well. I grafted a cartridge fork on it and its awesome. Sadly I was riding a few days ago and unknowingly put a hole in the oil filter cover. Didnt figure it out until the engine piston seized. Interestingly enough it started right back up but with no oil it is no bueno. And current busy life I dont have time at the moment to rebuild it. So I was thinking if getting a newer used XT. Im even flirting with getting a X-pro Templar X as reports seem favorable for the price. My riding buddies all have higher end Japanese and Euro enduros. I love having the underdog bike. Love your channel brother!

    Also, I agree the install on that top rack sucked! I like the rack, but they left out the 8 washers they were supposed to include in the kit, and two of the spacers they had for mounting the rack onto the brackets were WAY too thick...there was no way they were gonna fit, so I just left them off. I also had to remove my helmet lock and leave it off for the rack to go on. I was highly annoyed by the end of it LOL.

  • @precipiceofgrind

    Yeah, I was not impressed with the tail rack by PM. I'm going to swap mine out for a rack and panniers from Happy Trails after I deal with the seat swap. Think I'm going to go with the Corbin seat, a little more spendy than the Seat Concepts but I hear the SC seat doesn't do that great of a job. Until then, the Airhawk pad will have to do! Good job dealing with that rack install! I was spitting fire while trying to put mine on.

    Thanks for the XT information. Which tank bag did you get? Nelson Riggs Trail End or Trail End Lite? The Trail End looks a little big. (I did look at your links.) I have a 2009 XT 250. I live with the carbs. The seat height is perfect for me (30 inch inseam). I'll keep mine for a long time since it's fun to ride in city and out on tougher trails. It is a putt putt bike. I'm not looking to race like some of my other friends. What is tough is living in Texas with dual sport - limited rides. 2016 Triumph Tiger 800 XC for the rest.

    I bought the same Acerbis hand guards. I understand how they attach, but I haven't seen anyone show how to do the part where it goes into the inside of the handlebar. I'm not mechanical so it's a small miracle I got the skid plate and top rack on, honestly. Is it hollow inside the handlebar? Is it metal? I see the expansion things that go in there but I'm slightly terrified to cut off the rubber on the bars....did you happen to do a video of you installing those? Thanks for all of these recommendations, by the way. I've basically copied most of what you've done!

  • @precipiceofgrind

    @precipiceofgrind

    Жыл бұрын

    No, I didn't do a video of the install but it really isn't that bad. Just take a razor blade (box cutter) and cut the ends of the throttle grips off. On the throttle you can use a paddle drill bit to cut the plastic out to be able to insert the hand guard screw. If you can deal with that tail rack then you can easily deal with the hand guards!

  • @Wagongirl01

    @Wagongirl01

    Жыл бұрын

    @@precipiceofgrind Okay. I have a regular drill...so I would just go buy a paddle drill bit to do this? Do you happen to know what size bit you used? Is it plastic inside the handle bar or metal? I saw someone on KZread say it's metal inside. If this is all too much to answer, I get it....if I can't figure it out, I might take the bike in to a shop to get just this portion done. I'm afraid of messing up my throttle, honestly.

  • @precipiceofgrind

    @@Wagongirl01 I think I used a 9/16 bit and it was plastic that was drilled out, not metal. It probably wouldn't cost much to have the dealership do it either, sometimes its worth the peace of mind.
