Yamaha XSR900 UNLOCKED. Is the VCYCLENUT flash worth $300?

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In this video we install a VCYCLENUT flashed ECU on the 2023 XSR900. We take you along for the ride and determine if this flash is legit for $300. This is being tested with a completely stock XSR900. Shortly we'll be installing a Kelpi exhaust to enhance the performance gained from just this flash.

    No, not worth any money unless it is done on the dyno, every bike is different. Mail in is a shitty way to tune. Since you have an o2 delete unit, that should prove the garbage. If it was done right the check engine light should never come on.

    😂😂😂. Pinning this one for entertainment purposes. The o2 is narrowband and is only active in certain conditions such as light throttle and some low RPM ranges. This is common for most motorcycles and cars, it’s an emissions tool more than anything else.

    Some people don’t have access to a dyno and tuner and mail in or OTS maps are the only way to tune anything. Although it’s a general OTS map, Vcyclenut only provides flashes for bikes he owns and tunes. You can argue there will be differences in elevation, fuel, bike, etc but like I mentioned before some people options are limited. Also, most tuners disable the o2 sensor since motorcycles use narrowband vs a wide band. They operate differently. Chris Moore from Mooremafia also disables the o2 sensor for tuning purposes so does that mean his dyno tunes are bad? Check engine light could be on due to the ECU being disconnected for some time but goes away after a ride or manually clearing it. This is common as well.

    End of the day would way rather have an off the shelf tune from a specialist as opposed to a dyno tune from a general motorcycle tuner. So unless you are willing to fly your tuner to your location to tune a stock bike; an OTS tune from a specialist is the best option. Dyno tune is also the easy part, the hard part is the road tuning portion. Every car I’ve had “dyno tuned” only spent about 20-30% of the time on the dyno for tuning, the rest was tuning on the road.

    With CNC manufacturing, calibrated sensors, and math behind it all, I think consistency amongst identical configurtions is exellent.. At this level, the machines are new or un-messed with stock. This isn't a carbeurator screwdriver tune of yesterday. What's a dyno tune cost? Maybe adds another 2% AT MOST? What's your Beef, Dude?

    So you just watched and heard from someone who actually owns the bike and has ridden it both ways. What part of it's "much better" do you not understand? They are tuning for drive ability. You don't need a dyno other than the one that comes stock in the seat of your pants. Tuning for every last bet of horsepower doe's nothing for drive ability, only WOT.

    Right on. Definitely worth it bro. VCYCLENUT is also very responsive and patient when it comes to questions before and after the purchase. When you look at what you get for the money, it’s tough to beat. I mean at this point a brentune is almost $1000 all said and done. $300 for this flash is a steal.

    2023 XSR900 here.. just got it back from VCYCLENUT. Mine with the Dual Can Dominator tune. Angle cut the internal air box channels. Went a few other mods like 15/47 (OR -1/+2) sprockets and EBC HH sintered Front Brake Pads. The Tune was well worth it.. as you say, a Great Improvement! I did notice an improvement on the quick shifter.. The 15/47 was impressive too.. Extended Highway at ~75 MPH is still OK.. but that isn't the point! The stock Brake Pads (They look like Metallic with metal flakes) were more that adequate for my skill level, but maybe ABS can hold off longer with a faster grab sintered? Now that spring has sprung, time to turn off Max Wrist (!) and get Riddin'!! Love this Bike!!

    Hello I have a question: Have you noticed a change in the "engine breaking" pattern _after_ the ECU tune? .:. I have a stock 2023 XSR900 (bought in Vietnam). Engine breaking is relatively strong, which I like, but the breaking impact strongly decreases below 3000rpm, which I dislike but learned to handle. Would be nice if the electronics would allow to adjust engine breaking by demand.

  • @ASBP12

    @ASBP12

    Ай бұрын

    The engine breaking and throttle application is a lot smoother now in all RPM ranges. I wouldn’t say it’s stronger or weaker but isn’t so “twitchy” when on and off the throttle. That was my experience though and everyone’s experience may differ due to everyone having different motor skills when it comes to using the throttle.

  • @ridewithKY

    @ridewithKY

    Ай бұрын

    I didn’t notice much difference in the strength or severity of the engine braking. The most obvious difference is the smoothness as @ASBP12 mentioned. ASBP rides this bike way more than I do so he would be a lot more likely to notice less obvious changes with the motorcycles behavior.

    Been trying to find info on this so ill post here. I have a 2016 xsr900 tuned by vcyclenut( verified with info on ecu and is congruent with paperwork given to me) for a qs. Question is is there a specific qs that i have to use? Do i have to use vcyclenut's qs for my flash tune or can i use a different one? Po decided to not put one on after getting it tuned idk why and im inquiring about it so i can install the correct one. I also tried contacting vcyclenut about this 2 months ago with no response. Thanks.

    I haven’t tried as it’s not my bike. Front definitely gets light in 1st and 2nd. I’m sure if I wasn’t leaning over the tank it’d come up. Stock 2nd gear especially is restricted. Vcyclenut has some good literature on his website regarding these restrictions on the CP3 engines.
