Yamaha XMAX 250 with 75,000KM

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

The XMAX is relatively well known in the world of 'big' or 'medium' sized scoots. In New Zealand and many other countries we get the 300cc version, but Malaysia gets a 250 version. Supposedly because of license class issues. Regardless of the slight power decrease, this is a great scoot and is suitable for both short commuting and long distance riding.

That moment when you 15 seconds into a video and you recognise your morning running route in the suburb :) (I live 700m away and now understand your Monday evening market visit when your trip started) Both my wife and me replace our big GS 1200 in South Africa for 2 Yamaha Ego Avantiz here in Malaysia. Enjoy your videos and would have loved to join your trip to Thailand.

The world is much smaller than we think huh! Very cool. Nice neighbourhood to live too. Glad you like the videos! 3 more parts of the roadtrip to come.

Did a tour of east Europe (Greece Bulgaria Serbia Hungary Austria Czech Republic Germany Switzerland and Italy) with my wife using a top case and saddle bags. About 7000 kilometres in 18 days and we really enjoyed it! Some of the mods i HAD to do before the road trip were the ohlins front and rear suspension and fog lights .

Another option for a budget tourer in Malaysia is Sym vf3i. I've seen Malaysian KZreadr Bobyp and he rode across 7 country with his vf3i. I owned 1 and really appreciate it's big tank size 😊

These are so cheap in Europe. I've been considering getting one as a small touring bike. Something I can take for long distances without feeling it in the wallet. I've seen some silly custom ones as well which could be fun

Hey, just sharing my experience yesterday. It was my first time sitting on a 650cc bike, it was a honda cb650r. My inseam is around 30 inches and I can reach it near flatfoot. The seat is comfortable anf better than kymco xciting 400. The owner told me that the maintenance was really costly compared to 125cc- 150cc bikes.

Some big difference between a CB650R and a big scooter. They’re both awesome and have their place. But for me they have different uses. I wouldn’t tour on a sports bike myself.

Hands down, I will choose this bike over every standard style adv bike if the roads i've going to tour on are ok-ish roads. Bad roads and light off-road is another thing. The new ADV Honda series can tackles semi-bad roads for sure. The problem with adventure is they can take you on very nasty roads if it's your style. But always you can slow down for bad stuff.. Just rambling on my thought... I'm on verge of getting the adv 350 or the Kymco dtx 360 and it's what i've think often about. I loud prefer the adv 160 but we don't get it Europe.. Again.

I agree with you entirely. Oddly enough we have the opposite problem. Here in New Zealand we can get the smaller ADV's but the bigger 350 version one isn't for sale. We only get the XMAX 300. Which is still a good bike. I am interested in a PCX160 myself - but we'll see what happens and if I end up going down that route. Either way I do love the bigger scooters.

1:07 malaysian motorcycle licence got 2 category, B2 = max 250cc, B = 250cc above, most malaysian can't afford 250cc above licence and roadtax also expensive, that why yamaha selling it under 250cc

Looks great, I'm told the larger scooters are terrible for running errands. The Burgman is the tank of scooters, with a wet weight of 611 pounds (277.14 kg). Have fum on your trip.

@@CrapKerouac yeah there are definitely better inner city bikes. These can be too wide for comfortable lane splitting in some places.

Even though the xmax is 300cc and not expressway legal (400cc above on paper allowed in Philippines), the xmax is still popular even my neighbor bought one.

The only thing that worries me about taking scooters on long range touring is the belt. I don't trust it to last 8hrs of non stop riding at high speed without any failure.

  • @SmallBikeStuff

    @SmallBikeStuff

Fair concern but this scoot is proof they can handle it. 75,000KM of mostly open roads. Some days longer than 8 hours - it’s still running happily.

brakes and sus isnt its strongest forte ; the 300 eats oil if you change it at 5000KM with alot of city scooting so alot of owners change post 3000KM.

Nice scoot but not too practical on the tight Malaysian roads or when you're lane splitting. Great on the highway though.
