I like the commentary, definitely helps a lot. I’m taking apart the xj650 right now.

Thanks mate. Then it is unfortunate that I haven't have the time to disable the bottom end yet.

Hi Erik thanks for the video, I'm planning on doing this to check how my valves are, and clean up/change head gasket on my xj750rh. Is it possible to do this from the bike on center stand? Maybe secured with weights or something? I don't have any lift and I'm on my own, also my shims are way off right now, dummy question but should I change them after valve lapping and rebuild to check clearance again? Or should I do it before? I know it's kinda stupid but since I'm not sure if it matters I'd rather ask!

I’m preparing to strip a 1991 XJ900F engine and your videos will prove invaluable! Look forward to seeing the rest, and the rebuild if you are going to video that.

That's my plan But at the moment I think you are going to wait a little while, as I have promised to do some work for others, and that just comes first But as said, it is my plan to document the whole process, incl upgrading the 750 to 850

@@Lorddxt Well, I’m quite a way off too. At the moment I’m concentrating on the frame and the wire wheel conversion!

Hi. Yes I have started pulling my 1991 XJ909F apart. I’ve ditched the fairing, loads of fittings and cut the rear frame loop off. I’ve just had two XVS650 Dragstar wire wheel rear hubs converted to take extra 17mm inside diameter bearings. I say two, because I’ve acquired a 1990 XJ as well! Lots to do, and I’ll start a video soon. The thing is these projects take quite a while, so there may be a gap between video posts. I think it’s going to be an interesting project, and judging by the amount of money I’m spending, expensive!
