Thank you! I've watched several adjustment videos but your video is the only one that I've found that shows very clearly where the feeler gauge goes. Others are at bad angles!

What would happen if you did not turn the crank shaft to the right revolution? And do you have to take the spark plug out to do the valve adjustment? GREAT VIDEO!!!!!!!

+Mark Hi Mark, the position of the crank shaft is critical when adjusting valve clearance. In fact, it's actually the rotational position of the cam shaft (s) that is the most important. On a 4 stroke engine the crank shaft turns twice for every revolution of the cam shaft so it's not just a case of aligning the TDC Mark on the crank shaft (flywheel) as you may be 360 degrees out. You must check to ensure the lobes of the cam shafts are away from the heels of the rockers arms. An alternative way is to ensure the piston is at TDC at the top of the compression stroke and not the top of the exhaust stroke. Hope all this makes sense. Pleased you found the video helpful. Andy, has the wolverine R Spec landed yet in New Zealand? Is the Viking specs video the same on Valve Clearance as for the Wolverine?

Man, there's really not much room up in there, is there? It makes adjusting 4-cylinder Honda cars look easy! Out of curiosity, what's the average life expectancy of these recreational equipment engines? I think I worked out once that the typical passenger car operating over 100,000 miles (160,000 km) equates to about 2500 hours, but please correct me if I'm wrong!

+rhkips It really depends how it's treated and service frequency too. I did a service on a 2 year old Viking Inc top end rebuild (first batch of Viking videos) and other than the engine issues it was still in good condition. Though I think anything more than 3000 hours would be pushing it for viability reasons for most 'normal' ATVs

Do you know what flywheel puller I can use on a 2015 Viking vi EPs. I turned my ride over put a need head and piston in it and went to set timing and the chain just jumps so I'm thinking I burnt the gear up on the crank side but can't see it unless I pull the flywheel
