    Thank you for your test ride. I had fun while you commented all your efforts in finding out all pros and cons of this machine. In my family there is a big discussion on the tricity. The kids think it's very modern, my wife thinks it's ugly and I'm perplexed although I'm starting to see all the hiddden values of such a kind of bike. The only changes I would introduce apart from a slightly more powerful motor, are the ABS for a better breaking possibility and a 12 V for recharging cells/tablets/PCs...

    Your review on the Tricity helped me a lot in the decision to buy one and it has been a great ride for my daily commute for 12,000k. There is a new 155cc model coming out soon please review it if you can. looks like it addresses the 3 down sides of the original, the power, the seat and the foot room. I would like to hear your comparison of the 2 models.

    Nice concept for City Commuting in heavy traffic. I would like to know if one can stop at traffic lights and not have to put any feet down - is it stable enough. to not 'tilt' over (or can one 'feel' this happening and counteract with leaning to correct? I am also wondering if anyone will develop an 'Electric Trike' with the same 2 front wheels! Having spent time living and working in China, electric 'scooters' are very popular in the Cities, and relatively inexpensive. A brushless electric hub motor in the rear wheel would be very compact and leave a lot of room for batteries and not having muffler and auto transmission to the sides, would make it potentially 'slimmer' for lane splitting and getting through 'gaps' between cars.

  • @ehong123
    @ehong1239 жыл бұрын

    I have a Gilera Fuoco 500 ie and I simply don't worry about rain/gravel/turn/gap/bumps and had the power to go on the highway at 89mph. It's very fun. Plus it has the suspension lock so I don't have to put my feet down waiting for the light. Besides the look, it's really a fun one. Now if I can just paint my red one to black then I will be happy with my batmobile.

    Hi Cager, thanks for this review. I am just wondering since I am very interested with this scooter. Will I be able to ride this one? I don't have any experience with riding a bike or even a motorcycle or even balance myself up since I had a fear on it when I was a kid. I was curious because this one has 3 wheels and it made me want to finally own and ride one if that is the case.

    The Yamaha Tricity rides extremely stable & the brakes are excellent! The only two downsides are: a very large helmet doesn’t fit underneath the seat and the top speed is around 90km/h depending on your weight.

  • @Quickblood1
    @Quickblood19 жыл бұрын

    In the UK the tricycles make a lot of sense as some of them can be ridden on just a car licence although not all of them. The problem is the Piaggio and Gilera LT's cost almost as much as my car. As a completely new rider I'm very tempted by the stability but this is £1000 more than the Honda PCX I was planning on getting, hmm decisions, decisions.

    Hi very nice review thanks ! I'm planning to buy a 3wheels scooter, i don't feel safe when it rains etc on 2. At first I wanted a MP3 but it's waaay too big, then i discovered the Yourban 300 but it seems quit large also. Now that i know the Tricity 125 ABS i think it's the best possible thing to buy for the city, and your video confirms that. But do you know if it's possible to "power" it up a bit ? I used to change my exhaust on my first 50cc when i was younger, do you know if there are some possibilities like this on this Tricity ? Thanks !

    I bought one, because i`d destroy my cars enging on the daily 5km trip on twisty, steep roads, it doesn`t even get lukewarm. I wanted something cheap and cheap to run that a could use almost every day of the year. There are a couple of days, where it snows heavily, then i use the car, but the rest of the time i can use the tricity. it dousn`t matter if it is wet, if the street is terrible, dirty,... it simply transports you to where you want to go, very safely, rather slow but still enjoyable.

Still, long gravel road to my new house so maybe I should look at the Honda NC700x or CB500x. Watching your CB500x review right now. "Real" adventure bikes are too tall for little me.

    I had a Piaggio MP3 and, it's all you have said and been susprised abaout. Bad things: It's almost impossible to avoid potholes. Those 3 wheels require a very large strip of good ground to pass, so at least on wheel will hit the pothole/bump. If they had put the two front wheels close to each other, this problem would go away (and maybe the «bad« looks). Another problem is when you try to get close to the sidewalk, now you have a whell that's not in the center of the bike. I almost fall several times because of this. And it was because of these two reasons that I returned to 2 wheels. But, man.. I miss that front grip.

    If you´re still interested, i´ve got a gts125 and i really like it. But i´m going to buy now a tricity. If you´re looking for safety go for a trike. I´ve tried this one on rough roads and Yamaha made a really good job. No slide at all. But if you want to "feel the road" stick to a 2 wheels motorcycle. Gts125 is a good option but change the tyres if you have plenty of rainy days.

    How much does this cost in Europe? It's sounds like a good idea for cheap three wheels bikes to come over to the U.S since the only big brand three wheel scooter is the Piagglo. Otherwise as a city scooter it's perfect for rainy days states and horrible roads plus it's a 125 so it should have good MPGs.

    The nice thing about those ugly monsters is that, having 3 wheels, you can ride them with only a car license, no matter how powerful they are. Thats why i think a 125 its a little stupid, for 125, please, a normal one. But i you dont have time for obtaining the bike license but still want something faster than a 125, a 400 tri-scooter is a good idea, i guess. Still, i dont like them.

  • @Motortriker

    I am pretty sure the Tricity needs an automatic motorcycle licence - it's not the same as a Piaggio MP3 LT because the spacing between the front wheels isn't wide enough. Seems like Yamaha deliberately did NOT want car drivers riding this without training.

    It's probably a 125 for fuel efficiency. These are the furthest away from hooligan bikes you can get haha :P

    Maybe you will like the Yamaha 01GEN that was introduced at the Intermot 2014? Let's hope Yamaha will introduce a production model soon.

    It seems nothing more than a cheap clone/imitation of the Piaggio Mp3 (the inventor of this kind of scooters). No Abs, no traction control, no suspension lock, ridiculous space under the seat, etc. etc... For the city I would prefer Piaggio www.uk.piaggio.com/piaggio/UK/en/news/MP3.html#main (ok, it costs more than the Tricity)
