People rarely bring up the fact that these are basically portable studios. With the wet and dry channels via USB into your favorite DAW, you can record guitar, bass, voice, keys, etc. It's more than just a practice amp.

@@delosreyesgino Be careful - I bought this exact model and it DOES NOT WORK as an audio interface. The previous gen one did fine but I've spent WEEKS messing about with various Steinberg/Yamaha drivers and it never shows up as an audio input in my DAW (Studio One Pro 4 ). Tried on Windows on 2 separate systems. I have to either use ASIO4ALL drivers which only supply one track (no wet/dry) or use the headphone out into my Focusrite interface. The amp sounds great as a practice amp but that's all it is unfortunately.

This amp has what looks like a killer feature, for me - which nobody is talking about! The amp model switch has an "ACO" option, and Yamaha's website says it "3 mic models for acoustic-electrics". For anyone who plays BOTH electric and acoustic guitars, this could be a godsend. Saves the cost of buying two different amps - and the trouble of lugging them around to every gig! That said, I'd really like to see and here a demo of how it sounds, with acoustic guitar. I hope it's as good in that department is it seems to be everywhere else!

My katana air has the electro acoustic setting on knob snd mine sounds great through it. Ive seen demos on here for the katana air and reviewers all seem to think its for making your electric guitsr sound like acoustic which it isnt for. it has a pedal sim to make your electric sound acostic in mod on app . the acoudtic setting on the sound knob is for electro acoustics

I been really diggin on those ernie ball guitars lately. Especially the stingray guitars... they kick ass. I have a 1977 musicman burst stingray ii in the original case. I picked it up a few years ago. I like it but, it would be nice to have the same guitar with normal humbuckers and normal wiring. I dont dare jack with the originality of my musicman stingray but, i did consider making a copy of the pickguard and cutting out humbucker holes instead of holes for the stingray pickups. It was really getting to me and suddenly ernie rereleased the stinray guitars!!!! Wow....talk about crazy.

I own the Yamaha THR10x and while I love that I can record with it and get various tones, I find it too synthetic sounding like most non tube practice amps. When I hear this new Yamaha amp it seems to have the same issue (at least through these videos). Maybe good for Satriani or Metal style music, but not if you’re wanting a more natural tube sound. I had the same issue with the Boss Katana. I guess it’s just the reality of solid state and smaller amps. The new features on this Yamaha upgrade are nice, though I ended up waiting and just ordered a Positive Grid Spark amp instead. Much cheaper, and way more features. I can finally play wirelessly using headphones without breaking the bank. One last mention in case Yamaha is reading these comments... you should have stuck closer to your THR10 amp aesthetic. This new amp looks pretty bad in my opinion. What made the older models so attractive were the minimalist details and the awesome glow. I loved the v cutouts and solid look. This new amp looks too busy. And what’s the deal with the Easter egg pale yellow? Just my opinion. I hope they mimic the features of the Spark with their next amp and attempt more tube like tones.

It's 30w if you really crank it, so yes it gets loud for a bedroom, but you're not going to replace an actual 212 cab with this. The nice thing though is that you can now output it into a DI, interface, pedalboard amp and use it as a preamp for live stuff. You could do that with the old THRs as well but you had to come out of the headphone jack into a DI and then into the PA or power amp.

Obviously this is a direct competitor to the Boss Kitana air , so maybe a side by side shoot out is in order lol. I was looking at the Boss , however this seems to tweak my interest a little bit more.

I have the Vox Adio GT. It was the best sounding amp with the best features at the best price in the boombox amp category at the time. I always wished it could be used as a head though. Soooo . . . Can the Yanaha's line out dump into a regular guitar cab or does it need to be powered?
