    Hello, guys. Thanks for your comments and support. The Tenere 700 in this test was handled to us by the Yamaha dealer and it had the stock suspension settings. In order to offer a more detailed and precise answer on the Tenere 700 suspension thing, we'll come up with a follow-up test in a couple of days. We'll try again the Tenere on road and off-road with various compression/rebound settings. Be right back. :) P.S. You're a well informed and exacting community and we're proud of that!

    You have been attacking with poor compliments the most selling motorcycle for the autumn 2019 - spring 2020. It’s the unicorn of the motorbikes. It’s a platform on which can be added many adjustments for the suspension, with little investments. You forget to mention its simplicity and reliability. So thank bouth gays for the video, but I think that you can emphasize those points.

    @@dexio85 absolutely false. I tested both 790 and T700, Yamaha has better suspensions and looking at the slow motion video, you can see it clearly. The 790 and 850GS haven't adjustable suspensions, the 790 appear unstable, the GS is more stable but too soft for real off road usage. The T700 setting is too hard but the suspensions and frame is working good. Could be better with the right setting. On the T700 are mounted fully adjustable Kayaba suspensions, suspensions far from economic and this is demonstrated by the fact that many complain that the suspension is too soft and others that are too hard (depending on the setting). Often the cheap adjustable suspensions are not really adjustable...

    Having been riding bikes most of my 55 yrs..... and living Thailand now and living in Vietnam and The Dominican Republic.... Growing up in California The bottom line for me is reliability, cost of maintenance, availability of parts and services...... World wide I would stick with the Good folks at the Tuning fork of Yamaha. Just my opinion of Course. I owned a GS 800 and overall loved it... But I didn't love the dealer or service experience. I have only ridden a handful of KTMs..... But I absolutely loved the ride for sure. I love to ride..... Not spending time in service shops and waiting for parts. I will stick to Yamaha. I'm going for the Tenere after having tested both, the KTM is better in every aspect, but it's more money to spend on every aspect as well (cost, parts, maintenance, insurance) and yeah obvisously the Yam is more reliable and simplier to repair but the KTM is not as bad as everyone say. Maybe after my 4 month European trip I will switch to the KTM just for enjoying it on the weekends.

    I have an 850GSA and I couldnt agree more about the gear box. It could be so much better. The quickshift works nicer than the clutch shifting sometimes, low gearing can be specially annoying, sometimes with the BMW. I test rode both the T7 and the KTM(Both Versions). There are so many good points about all these 3 bikes its crazy. I guess in the end its about what motorcycle do you actually like the most, which one speaks to you the most. As always amazing video guys !!

  • @Databyter
    @Databyter4 жыл бұрын

    Those bikes did well in the bog considering that they had hybrid tires and not dirt knobbies. The Yamaha needed to be dialed down a bit on suspension it looked like, but it was still nice. The KTM did well. The fact that it would not even be worth trying the BMW in the bog because of difficulty of pushing it around when it gets stuck or falls over, says a lot. These guys lost a good opportunity with the Yamaha by not adjusting the very decent suspension on it. It was obviously too hard for many of the bumpy road tests, and CERTAINLY for the boggy field. Dial it down, and it would have made a world of difference, and that low end torque motor would have made the off roading fun.

    Big difference in mass. I have taken both bikes F850GSA and R1200GSA on 25,000km rides each (one from Miami to Thailand and one to South America) F850 is way lighter than R1200/1250. But I can say after riding on such huge rides -- F850 comfort is key for success. I cant ride a bike that is going to hurt my ass after a month of riding... Also KTM is impossible to find parts -- BMW has parts all over the world.

Some people even completely open all valves / remove damping and are happy with that. I think its hard to build an on+offroad bike that suits everybody for both scenarios. Most likely thats impossible anyway, maybe with (expensive) electronic suspension.

    Great job on the video guys! This was a really great comparison between these bikes. Yamaha looking really good and with some suspension love could be a great bike.

    I liked the honesty with which you guys went through all the terrain and bikes and discussing each bike with each other. Excellent review! Thank you for making it. Excellent work! It was interesting listening to your accents, locked in my own little world I thought yawl sounded Russian. I still don't know but I commend you on your English skills too. Was kind of fun to listen to 3 gangstaz talk bikes, hahaha! Good job, Gentlemen!

    Really very interesting video with high information value, pleasing critical remarks, not only praise as in some other, more marketing-oriented clips of other nations.

    I keep hearing stories of the KTM having reliability issues. A lot of them have been in and out of the shop which is unfortunate. Such a sweet machine. I'm picking up my tenere 700 mid-july.

    I've heard the same thing about reliability issues with the KTM. Breaking down out in no man's land is my biggest concern by far! Reliability is the name of the game in this sport. Traction control doesn't due anything if the bikes not running! I've got my DCT tour Goldwing for comfort riding. They're all great bikes but cost of ownership would be my second highest buying point, and for those two aspects my choice would be the Yamaha. She may be old school and lacking in technology but I just wanna ride in AND ride out ! Great review and camera work! I really enjoyed your insights and thoughts!!
