Pretty cool change of pace from the usual speaker destruction, I'd like seeing more of these alongside the usual vids too! Also Corey singing was hilarious

He had a video several years back where he was reconing an 18” woofer that was pretty good. But yeah, it’s rare when he makes videos like this haha
I always love it when neat old stuff like this gets saved from being put out to pasture!

@@GarretClaridgeMeerkat did not know your friend Corey actually started MMA class hey, for your next video I recommend using the THX deep note since You like blowing up speakers why not try that? Put on some trailers from. THX and put the bass up they'll cause a fried speaker
I love the unique way these speakers look. You did a great job with the restoration as always, Garret.
This is like a whole new demographic for your channel... make more videos like this and I think it will get way bigger.

Blow 'em and fix 'em. 😂
I rebuilt a 18” set just like this. I bought new tweeters for the horns, bought new goldwood 18” drivers, sanded and painted the cabinets, mounted all the new drivers, had one bad cross over. So bought two new crossovers, installed them and I had a bad ass set of speakers. I had $200 total invested in them. Sold them for $1500.
YEAH GARRET!! You are one of the people who got me into audio, I used to look up to you so much when I was a little kid man. It’s great to see you back!
Alright, your channel now covers 2 of my favorite categories: breaking stuff and fixing it
as someone who has been watching for just about 9 years im glad that garret us still making this content!
Awesome video Garret! I can't believe that they were using these beautiful speakers as a piece of gym equipment!
I realy happy to see one video of you beacause i wait 3 months! Thanks for make a new video!
Nice speakers and great video :). I am happy about every upload :P. Good to see, that the old stuff is still in use!
Yamaha makes awesome stereo stuff I have an early 90s Yamaha YST-SW200 Powered subwoofer with 2 6 inch drivers and it sounds amazing especially on low frequency's
Damn those boxes are beautiful. Love seeing new life being breathed into old / dead equipment. May those boxes continue bumping for another 40 years.
restoration? no wayyy oh and your content inprooved soo much in the past few years, always looking forward to ur content
Very cool to see these old boxes still functional. I'm also working on a pair of old EAW speakers that were used in the 93s. Ngl, I think old PA gear sounded better than it does today. (but there is so much heavy and bulky haha, my back hurts just seeing this video)
Finally a restoration video after a very long time on your channel ❤
what a funny coincidence, seeing those speakers on your channel! my father always had a pair of those and now also has a pair of s4115h mkii. great, natural sound and very loud without needing a big amp.
great to see you uploading again this month!
i watched this man all they way back in 2012 glad to see he still making videos
Awesome work, Garret! It was awesome to briefly meet you at FE this year.

Excellent work and content! 🎉 Please continue to create content, I enjoy your videos. 💯
This was really cool to watch! It's interesting to see what you usually do with speakers (when they aren't junky worthless ones lol)
Wild how well the entire set up is.
Dude this style of video is kickass!
we need more vids in this style. smashing and blowing shiz up is cool but its nice to have more variety in the mix. keep it up
HAPPY EASTER!! great to see you back again! Restoring speakers isn't something you see everyday! Also hope your mouth gets better for you!

Good job! Like to see more content like this garret!
I was just watching his channel a few hours ago and on the same day he uploads a video
dame nice per of yamaha speakers old butt still rocking nice work
i LOVE repairing things as much ans I enjoy watching you blow things up that dont derve to be fixed lol
I've seen many of your previous speaker destruction videos. It's so nice to see you actually repairing a pair of speakers, especially a nice pair of vintage speakers such as these. I would like to see you make more videos like this one. BTW, as you were testing out these speakers after the repair, I thought it was funny that you briefly played what I call the "speaker death" song that killed off all your other speakers in your speaker destruction videos. Anyway, nice job repairing these speakers. I bet they sound great in person.
Your job is awesome Garrett! I would love to make a living refurbishing and fixing up client equip!
Nice! Good to see ya, my friend! Great vid! They are as heavy as I am. LOL
I just bought some speakers similar to these, one of them is completely blown out, I hope that the crossovers are still functional. I want to fix them up, this video is my inspiration for fixing up my blown speakers ❤️
this is the opposite of what im used to seeing from you
i always loved the old yamahas
Great video Garret!
I love you're videos!👍
Those things sound pretty great for the 70s
Yo love the video do more it's great I will stay for the long run!
wow sounds amazing bro i love speakers like that my dad had ones like it they were called bullfrogs
sweet find here:) cheers for giving them second life:)
It was really interesting!!! I want to see more of that, but destruction is still awsome to watch tho 😂 Good job 😎
I just recently got a pair of vintage Fisher tower speakers from the 1980's with 15" woofs. $60 and they work perfectly.
That horn probably been blown out. I'm glad you you're fixing them. That Altec might be out of phase, but it seems very efficient.
Happy Easter Buddy 😋🙃
Nice video and this speaker rembmer me to a keyboard setup from a local band here.

Yes ! Interesting content I have identical enclosures with amplifiers built in ! They don't get used much these days
awsome video garret :D
I also like to take apart speakers but seeing you do what I think is better makes me want to follow suit and learn more from you thanks if you don't mind
Hell yeah Garret, keep being you
great work
Please more of these videos
Woah he's not exploding them, cool
I got a set. Sounds great
Finally back
had a pair of those picked up for free 1 was broke woofer blown and tweeter dead the other was 100% functional and orginal they are efficient as hell and loud had to demolish them bc the cabinets where in really bad state and they are heavey i sold the horns and compression drivers and filters to an yamaha collector and gave the woofer to a friend of mine to fix a other vintage yamaha PA speaker
@GarretClaridgeMeerkat
Жыл бұрын
right on, yeah with an MDF cabinet they really had to be stored correctly, even blown out the woofers are worth something as you can get aftermarket drop in cones
Dude them altec horns are worth a lot and are some of the best stuff take them home holy shit or sale them to me haha 😂 loved your videos since I was a lil boy
I Like YOUR Videos keep Up MORE :)
Thanks for this! I picked up a pair for $75.00. One compression driver's bad and I'm waiting on parts right now.
I had a pair of these back in the eighties that I gave away. Maybe I should have kept them.
Great video
YOUR THE BEST
I believe the original horn drivers were on the weak side. We had these speakers at my school in the 1980s and the horns were at least two times blown from whatever use they saw in the music room.
Sweet! I have an old Cerwin-Vega sub that I need to restore.
nice drum & bass i like it :D

I just got a nice pair of 1980's Yamahas, which apparently have the same woofers and horns, for free. They belonged to a church, which 20 years ago had bought a whole new sound system and stored the old one in the basement. They're just a bit unsightly, because they're covered with this white fake fur stuff, which in the basement has come into contact with some rusty tools, which of course have left their marks. Technically the speakers are perfect, the sound is good, but I will be needing a new set of cables to connect them with the Peavey M 4000 amp that came with them. I don't know if the Peavey still works, but it does power up, so I may be getting some sound out of it soon.
How interesting I love vintage speakers I have a ginormous fat Jensen guitar speaker 😊
So glad the original look was kept, I liked this video, was cool watching you repair speakers lol.

Holy smokes, Altec driver! You could probably flip these and get them a new, active set of speakers they could mount on the wall / ceilling :))) Still nice to see the old Yamaha's running again.
There's a model by TOA very similar to these in Cheltenham town hall Gloucestershire.Believe the horn baffle is used to help even performance across the Freq. The TOA have pitzos as well
Big fan
Love it
I have one of those they are awesome speakers
Would love to find a pair of these
Yes YES
Theres fire in the box
I had 2 pair 1 powered set And 1 passive set Both with silver horn and white woofer
A roller rink near me has these exact speakers or ones that are very similar.
