    I've kept the standard exhaust on my 2023 MT 09. Has enough power for my liking, stock sound is fine, saving my hearing from additional noise, been kind to my bank account.

    The black stuff on the pipe if it is from the exhaust could only be from fuel which relates to being rich if anything but maybe only when warming up? Should not leak there but it is an aftermarked pipe vs the stock exhaust which is a totally welded up stainless steel box basically with two exhaust outlets slamming the exhaust note into the street where it bounces back up so you can enjoy the lovely song!

    Just a thought about your sound issue… you may want to consider trying AirPod Pros with noise cancellation. I rode with AirPods sometimes before I got a Sena, they fit in my ears well. The new ones I got with noise cancellation block a ton of sound. Maybe worth considering.

    Hi there. I do like this Yoshimura exhaust and I'm curious how does it work with a baffle in it? That should cut off the extra air and fix the problem with lean fuelling & making sound more comfortable for your ears.

    The db reducer has definitely made it quieter and a bit more comfortable (I must have sensitive ears or something though). Unfortunately it hasn’t seemed to prevent the bike from running lean 🤷‍♂️

    I'm so glad everything is okay with the bike. I did that to my little Honda Cb. Had a Coffman slip on and damn thing blew my ear drums out every time I rode it. Also I lost some power. My little bike lost 10mph I hated that. I didn't have a chance to put the stock muffler back on cuz it was wrecked in an accident. Meow with the MT09 2021 to 2023 I love the stock muffler design tucked under. The only thing I hate is that stupid tail and I would do the same like you did. I got 550 days left in getting my bike. I will try getting the base 2023 model. Meow if I'm luck to get the SP model I would jump and get that one. I just hate the long wait. In the end at least I don't have to worry about Having notes

    Not sure if this will help, but according to tankslapmoto, who has an 2021+ MT09 SP, allowing the bike to idle until the fans kick on then hitting the kill switch while leaving the bike in accessory for 5 minutes may allow the ECU to self adjust via the O2 sensor.

    You mentioned you bought extended warranty my guess is aftermarket exhaust and/or "tune" will void that warranty for engine failure especially seeing how already the shop ascribed the oil "burning" issue to overly lean condition caused by the aftermarket exhaust ....so if the motor failed? Of course they will look at the "documented" problem and say "OH! It was severely low on oil for a number of miles, Hey you might want to just cash in the balance of your warranty just saying

    Earplugs might save you from getting tinitus. The damage to your ears comes from the wind noise for longer periods at higher speeds and not so much from your exhaust

  • @MrGeati6783

    @MrGeati6783

    True. Wind noise at 60mp/h or 100km/h around 96 to 105db. For hours! (depends on your helmet) Got a tinitus while daily riding to work with an SH300. It is quiet af, but wind kills your eardrums over time.

  • @dougiequick1

    To solve brake noise simply buy brake pad lubricant stuff remove pads and smear a little on the backside of the pads. What causes the noise is oscillation between the pistons and brake pads ....people assume it is where the pads actually contact the rotors but no it is the other side of the pads high frequency oscillation ...a problem with some models since disk brakes first appeared. Weird how one bike or car does it while 10 others may never who knows why

    Damn dude, sorry to hear that. I don't know if its a common issue, but I've seen a couple people have some oil burning issues. Usually it's been linked to an aftermarket exhaust. A bit strange for a stock unit to be burning oil. If you're still under warranty, I'd get it to the shop asap!

    @@RowdyMornings When people say their bikes don't use a drop of oil between oil changes that is complete nonsense. Over 8000 miles your bike will burn oil. It's normal. My zx10r has 90000 miles and uses a fair amount of oil. The same as it did when it only had 15000 miles. This has been the same on all my bikes over the years. You as the owner should be coming home after a couple rides and checking the oil level once the bikes been shut off for a few minutes. Takes seconds to check and top up to the upper level.

    mmh, your yoshimura is a full system is it!? I dont think the exhaust is the problem, I'm also using the Arapovic full system for my MT09 2021 without fuel remapping at all. I'm also change the air filter to the DNA filter, so it means more air than usual, and the bike was so lean and great after I did the changed. Coz of the full system so expensive, some of my friend using the slip on and exhaust pipe was custom for the MT-09 (Replica), and the bike still running good. I think you should bring it to some good garage and check the problem probably, some dealers only talk shit and know nothing about the bike. From what you said the guys didnt connect the ECU to check the air, the fuel, didn't do anything except asking you a few question and schooled you.

    Was the oil level in the sight glass going down as you put on miles? Is that how you determined you were using oil (I won't say "burning" oil)? Or did you come to the conclusion that you were using oil purely due to the black soot leaking at the slip joint and accumulating on the exhaust system? If your oil level is not going down, you are not using oil....that black would be from a too rich of a mixture. If the oil level IS going down, you are either leaking it or you are burning it (past the piston rings and/or valve guide seals). Don't let the dealer fool you by telling you that the oil is "evaporating".

  • @TylerCharest

    @TylerCharest

    10 ай бұрын

    Good points. The oil was progressively getting lower in the sight glass. There weren't any visible leaks, so my assumption is that the motor was burning oil. The bike's still in the shop, waiting for Yamaha to approve the warranty work. Should have some definitive answers soon!

    I know two people who were over filling their bikes with oil and of course the engine blew it out over a short time. The manual tells you to fill the bike with it standing up straight not on the side stand. If you fill it on the side stand you will put in 1/2 quart too much. They just kept dumping oil in and complaining about oil burning. I just cut a piece of 2x6 to go under the side stand which puts the bike about perfect. Since this bike is liquid cooled 10-40 motor oil is all you need. Thicker oils can cause problems and additional ware on cold starts.

    From watching your videos on the MT09 it becomes very apparent you don’t understand much of anything about mechanics. The problems you have had with the MT09 are directly caused by your actions and not understanding how the bike works. The bad thing about this is you shot your mouth off about the MT09 being a bad bike. This probably persuaded many people not to buy a MT09 which would have made them a great bike. Before you start blabbering about something and sending out all over the world make sure you know what you are talking about!!!!

I appreciate you calling out things that I've gotten wrong, that's how this community can become more educated. Hopefully your comments have utility for other viewers. 👌

    @@TylerCharest I was not trying to say you are stupid but any engine and it’s controls must be in sink to work correctly. These late model machines are playing a very tight line between burning up lean and staying within EPA requirements. Absolutely any change to the exhaust, air intake or fuel delivery system requires a complete recalibration to avoid damage to your engine. Despite what some after market suppliers would have you believe Yamaha didn’t leave much HP on the table. The most gain I have seen on the Japanese big four is not worth the cost. Only 5 or 6 HP in the top rpm range is all you can get over stock on a MT09. If done correctly this will currently cost you $2,800.00 at minimum. To me it is silly to pay nearly $600.00 per hp that only comes in at near red line. These mods will cost you a little torque and hp in the 3 to 5,000 rpm band where you use the bike most. I understand the love of the sound of aftermarket exhaust systems and they make you feel fast. Truth is they don’t do much for you but the police love them. Bottom line I have a really close friend who has done the entire aftermarket list to his 2021 MT09. After almost $3,100.00 he gained .10 of a second in the quarter mile. I ride with him regularly on my 2022 MT09 and he only has an edge above 110 to 115 mph. I prefer to ride in front of him because of the noise.
