Yamaha MOTOBOT 2 vs. Valentino Rossi

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

MOTOBOT 2 is an updated version of our autonomous motorcycle-riding robot and is capable of circulating a racetrack on its own. After the debut of MOTOBOT 1 in 2015, its hardware and software for autonomous riding were repeatedly reviewed and revised, leading to the creation of Version 2. Then in September 2017, one of the project’s milestones was reached as MOTOBOT successfully hit speeds exceeding 200 km/h. MOTOBOT then attempted to better the lap time set by MotoGP star, Valentino Rossi.

    no its just a big dick pissing contest between yamaha and the other bot building companies in japan.it is a unbelievable piece of kit though.the yam is stock with stock controls.take the robot of and rossi could jump straight on and ride.still dnt see the need or want for rider/driverless vehicles takes 1 glitch and youve got deaths on your hand then who does the fault lie with?the owner?the designer?the workmen?last person to service it?the roadways?at least with the human element its the human element at fault.and these things will need electricity i imagine and speaking about the uk only we make 5% more electricity than we need.these sort of things and elctric cars in general will cause power shortages which nobody seems to mention when praising these cars.lets save the environment by running electric cars but lets not mention the traveling needed to turn raw materials into batteries(usualy china which means these battery makers are powered by coal) then shipped back around the world before being put into these "green cars"now think about the extra coal powered power plants being used to power these cars charging stations and you soon cause more damage to the environment than any gas guzzler does.motobot same as all new automotive technologies the technology is coming along nicely but its still a long way off being anything other than a novelty

    Yea the advantage that humans still have over this is that we're able to move our bodies around around and change the center of mass. Once the robot does that quicker than humans it's only a question of how well it's programmed before it's faster than any human on any track under any conditions.

    The 6th sense is pretty disputed and not scientifically confirmed at all. Sensors perhaps we're better than bots there but how many do you really need when riding a bike. The bot can sense direction, motion and balance. If it can do those 3 faster than a human as well as compute and pick the best racing line faster than a human then it wont be long before Valentino Rossi is hella slow.

    @@amsd1231 Not in it's current form. Software alone isn't going to make the motobot any faster than a real racer. MotoBot doesn't have any weight. Because of this, MotoBot cannot take advantage of things like body position to keep the motorcycle from having to lean as far. Believe it or not, but unlike cars, motorcycles actually go faster with a rider than without one. The ability a rider has to displace their weight around the motorcycle, and even being able to use their body as a parachute is a huge advantage for a rider. Those are things the machine cannot take advantage of unless you add some additional machinery to simulate these things.

    So they need the bot to lean and move forward and back for brake pressure and suspension compression. Adjusters and modulators in the leg region for dragging a knee. Can get more speed down the straight if bot sits up for wind brake. Bot needs to be an average human weight for more pressure on the tyres for braking and corner speed/friction.

    I do not think it is possible because even if he might decide faster and things Motobot is not capable of transferring his own weight for having a different bike balance weight point in cornering. (Hang off) . So having the exact factory bike Valentino has his own body weight by hanging off and so he can go faster in corners and go deeper than motobot and so he can have higher cornering speeds than the not moving robot. But what this robot does is INCREDIBLY impressive. I would love to see the progress some years later.

  • @jakelaughton683

    @@tellrowland2370 you’re completely wrong. Rossi is shifting his weight around by up to 6 feet across and a few feet along the length of the bike. He is changing the centre of mass of the bike and the point at which it rotates. This isn’t as simple as just saying lighter is always better. Where the mass is matters. The mass is also what gives you traction. The way he shapes his body matters. Robots can do many things, but we are a long way off them reacting to situations they have never been in like humans do.

  • @tellrowland2370

    @tellrowland2370

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@jakelaughton683 nope. I know my physics well. Yes positioning and distribution matter but that doesn't change the fact that less weight can exceed more g forces without loss of traction and thats all that really matters. As far as robots not being able to interact and adapt to new situations... we did that 4 years ago man. We now have robots that could combat a human who would have zero chance of winning. Educate yourself before you call people wrong. The bikes ability over a bike with a human rider is literally a one line equation...

    A person can angle a bike more than just an electronic bike in a corner, by dropping their body weight off the seat to the inside of the corner. What the team will need to do is develop a sliding weight on a curved bar. But also a person can raise up as a corner approaches to catch the wind in his chest, helping to slow the bike. The electronic bike could have an empty half sphere that flips up to catch the air, then snap down before accelerating again.

    It's simply an abomination. The robot wars are the beginning of the end for society's progress because robots are not going to improve people they're going to displace and replace many people. This race of technology is as bad as nuclear weapons the problem is most Muppets can't see the bigger picture. And especially Millennials and Generation Z who think that robots and drones are a good thing they are an absolute detriment to society, to freedom, to Liberty and to the advancement of humankind. People who fail to see the massive negative impact of robots drones and a mechanical Society are either extremely naive or willfully ignorant. It really is a sad time in history as we are watching the decline of the human race beyond what we've ever seen before. We are engaged in Endless Wars poverty homelessness hunger rapidly Rising. All while mega-corporations invest in robotics Automation and weaponry. All this adds up to, the early beginning of a slow, but absolute end.
