We were finally able to purchase a second ATV, 2020 Yamaha Kodiak 700 Special Edition. I thoroughly enjoy riding this quad, it's so much fun. This is just a test ride but we will have more videos in the future.I had a hard time when choosing my first ATV so I hope to do some comparisons in the future between this four wheeler and the Can-am Outlander.

    That would be awesome. The dealers near me are smaller and have trouble keeping stock at the moment and they may not like me being honest. I don't have a salesman bone in my body, I truly would have to believe in the product. I do appreciate the kind words though. I sort of cringe at my videos 😅.

    Nice vid. I have a 2021 Kodiak, but unfortunately it isn't EPS. That's my only knock on it, honestly. It performs very well, even compared to others in it's class. Had it for a year now and no issues. I think you guys will love your Yamaha. Seem to be great ATV's. Anyrate, thanks for sharing, and keep the vids coming 🤘🏻

    Hey man you have 1 less thing to fail. I think the power steering is a bit too sensitive honestly. Even though I have an ATV with more power, I really enjoy riding the Kodiak, it's fun. Thanks for commenting, I love hearing other folks opinions and experiences. Definitely a good bike. Cheers man

    @@juliosdiy3206 no problems at all in the mud and water. Actually handled that much better than I was expecting. 700's do provide plenty of power. Depending on just how much mud and water you're trying to play in, you may want to consider upgrading the stock 27" tires for more bite and clearance as well as relocating the snorkel. Mine is still bone stock. Believe me, I put it thru the wringers. Super pleased with the performance so far. Never failed me. Not once! How are things coming along with yours?

    My wife has a 2021 Kodiak EPS 700. She loves it! She had a 2019 450 and she liked it but didn't like the gauge cluster, no diff lock and not enough power so she traded for the 2021 700. I'm taller and I have the Grizzly and love it ! I had a 2019 Kodiak 700 and it just felt smaller, plenty of power just small. I put on bar risers and a Grizzly seat and that helped but i test drove the 21 Grizzly with the 6% gear reduction and loved it so got it. The only thing I've done to the quads is put on Zillas on both, wheels on mine, whiskeybent tips on both. We tried the EHS tuner and they ride better stock. And i did the AIS delete on both, and winches on both. Yamaha is a great quad ! These are our 5th set of Yamaha. Ride safe 🙏

    Yeah my wife still loves her Kodiak. I have asked her if she would prefer anything else, the answer is always no. I may end up putting Grizzly clutch weights in it eventually for the extra pep. Do you think the tuner was worth the cost?

    @chasintrail No... the tuner made ours run terrible!! I put it on both and a MBRP muffler, they both ran bad, I emailed Eric and he said they don't do much for stock quads. I looked on Grizzly Central to see if anyone else had luck with them and everyone with 2019 up said they did nothing, a few said they put on air gauges and the newer Grizzly, Kodiak do Not run lean. A few people said made a hesitation or run bad. The muffler looks like it is for a 250, it's little and very obnoxious. I took everything off, changed plugs. These were both new and tuner fouled plugs. I blocked the AIS and put whiskeybent 1.5 45 degree tips on both. They both run great, I think blocking the AIS helps a lot to cool muffler down and we have no popping or anything. The whiskeybent tip sounds great, not as loud as the 2R tip. I think if I was going to do anything it would be a HMF muffler and their tuner, but I'm happy with how they are now. I can't keep front wheels down if I pin it from a dead stop and it brings up the front going over small bumps and obstacles. I love my Grizzly!

    @@SuperDave-pe1zw Nice man thanks for then info. I have the same on mine, whiskey tip and AIS delete. I also added a 1.3mm shim to my clutch. Not a super huge difference but I can feel it and cheap to do.

    @chasintrail I'll just leave mine stock, I put on aftermarket wheels and Zillas, I put on 8" light bars under our racks and wired them to the handlebar pod light, I disconnected the light and just plug into it, no cut wires so easy to put back to stock. We hunt a lot, coyotes, deer, hogs so we put a front bag on and that pod light is worthless then so just use headlights and light bar. My gearing is fine for hunting and trail riding and I kept 26" tires so I have plenty of power.

    Good video. I love Yamaha’s 700cc. 90HP is the most overrated thing in the world. You spend more time putzing along than flat out hair back. Tune+Exhaust and that 700 is perfect. 🇨🇦👍🏻

    I agree. The only place I enjoy the Can-am power is on pavement. I've watched a couple of your videos as well and may or may not have an XTR reserved...😉 I like the stock exhaust sound better than loud exhausts, but tune and or clutch work may be on the horizon. Thanks for the comment man.

    I'm planning on getting a 2022. Only thing I need to do is find a friend in MD/DE with land to ride in on. My neighbors would cry is I drove it around here all the time.

    I have a Yamaha 2019 Yamaha Kodiak 700 and a 2021 CFMOTO CForce 600 and while they both are great the Kodiak is just a better built machine. The CFMOTO is a great machine in its own right, especially the cost difference. One can argue that with a some upgrades on the CFORCE its a better bargain, however the Yamaha stock IMO is the way better long term deal.

    I totally agree. My main issue with the cforce 600 is the clutching at low speeds. I feel the RPMs run way too high, feels like it's always in Low, even units with clutch work feel that way to me.

    i have a feeling we'll be seeing a lot more of these in the next couple years i think people are realizing you don't need 90hp to go through the trails lol

    Yea that's for sure 90 hp is unnecessary I love my grizzly 550 goes any we're hardly ever in four wheel drive except in the winter

    I'd really like to know how the ride compares to the newer grizzly. I had a 16 grizzly, wasn't real happy with it, but it did have a real push ride, pretty much everyone that rode it was impressed with the plush ride a real plush seat. May get another atv, thinking to go with the Kodiak this time. Wish I could ride the 2 side by side.

    The extra width alone makes for a better ride on the grizzly. The Kodiak isn’t bad. Putting my grizzly seat on the Kodiak made a huge difference, so you may look in to getting a grizzly seat for it and softening the shocks to the first notch. It still won’t be quite as plush as the grizz, but it’s more nimble.

    Nice video (sub’d)! I’m looking at getting a ‘23 Kodiak 700 se hopefully this week. I’ve been reading about the air box on these and it potentially letting dust past the air filter. Have you done any of the mods/after market fixes for that or is yours all stock still?

    I haven’t had any issues with our Kodiak or Grizzly. I think they beefed up the foam a bit in more current models. I have not heard of a single Yamaha having issues due to dust particles passing into the engine. In my opinion, it’s a little over blown. I have done the AIS delete on both of our quads. I put a whiskey bent exhaust tip on the 22 Grizzly and a 1.3mm clutch shim, I think I’m done. It feels perfect to me. Keep in mind that the base Grizzly is just a few hundred more, no winch but better ride/suspension plus all wheel disc brakes.

    Hey thanks for the reply! I’ve got to search up the ais delete, or do you have a video on where you did it? I really like the grizz but I just can’t get behind the color of the new base one. I’ve been thinking about the grizz eps se but it’s $1100 more plus I’d have to get the winch… now if the dealer had the xtr…

    @@bama314 I haven’t made a video on it, there are quite a few out there. Basically you are just blocking off an air line that leads into the exhaust. It stops the back firing you get when letting off the throttle. Check out GrizzlyCentral or KodiakOwners forums. Yeah I want a fan of the colors at first, but I’m starting to warm up to them. Better than the yellow and gray from last year imo. The main reason I went with the XTR was the color. You can get winches cheap but I know you also need a mounting plate to add one to the grizz.

    The dust issue was an issue on my 16 Grizzly and we actually had to do a new top-end. Basically it needed grease around the foam that seals up to the airbox. Do that and you'll be fine, it's just like doing an air filter on a motorcycle, you have to use grease to seal it up around the air box.

    I have the 2020 grizzly, the handle bars are a little taller and wheel base is a little wider, they could have done better on the floorboards and the fuel gauge those are my only complaints, great fun to ride

    Yes! I cannot trust the fuel gauge. I'm at half a tank, turn it off and back on and I'm at 3/4 tank. I am considering getting some skid plates for the floorboards.

    Had to watch this again :D What do you think is the best value for the money a kodiak 700 or a can am 570? They are roughly the same price where i live, the yamaha slightly more expensive.

    As for what i understand the can am 570 has the same engine as the 650 just detuned... I imagine that the kodiak is smaller, im just 6 feet tall? 183cm.

    The Kodiak with the 27 inch tires is pretty much the same height as the 650 outlander, though the Kodiak has more ground clearance. Some of the 570s have the detuned 650. I know the MR is a 570 and the XMR is a detuned 650. I have never rode a 570 but I hear they are close in power. I'm not sure which 570 you are looking at, but not all have diff lock either. It will really depend on what you want out of it. I'm sure the Can-am will win top speed but the Can-am also requires more upkeep. I will have much more side by side comparisons in the next video.

    @@chasintrail Thanx for the answer, im comparing the kodiak to the outlander. One the diff lock the yamaha for sure wins even though i imagine that the can am is quite sufficient. i kind of wonder though, the kodiak hasnt got a yamaha engine has it? Maybe the can am engine is better in the long run? Yep looking forwards to the next vid.

    @@soulis1000 Kodiak and Grizzly both have the same Yamaha 700 (686) engine. Pretty much the same bikes other than the grizzly being 2 inches wider, rear disc brakes, different clutching. Gotta give Yamaha a point for the dual brake levers, separate front and rear. The Can-am visco-lok has been great in my experience in mud, but for steep climbs or rocky terrain, diff lock is better.

    Just got the 2024 eps se. Beautiful machine. Im a honda guy but wanted to try yamaha. Still in the break in process which to be honest kinda sucks. Also the heat in the storage compartment kinda sucks.

    I’m assuming this addresses the issue for people that are 6 feet or taller in height? I am really interested in getting a 2022 for mainly work purposes and some trail riding and I am 6 1/4 ft tall.

    Honestly, no idea. I fill them up before each ride and we never get below 1/4 tank. I'll fill em both up next time and reset the trip meter.

    I know you said this was for your wife but I was wondering if you were over 6 feet tall and how it is for riding (especially when standing up)? I’ve heard that the grizzly is better for people over 6 feet tall. Can you confirm that this is a “non-issue”?

    I am 5.9 and feel like I would get handle bar risers for the Kodiak for standing up. I have to slightly bend my knees. Grizzly is fine, I can stand straight up with no issues.

    @@kensingtonwick Kodiak and Grizzly have the same power, it is just applied differently due to clutching. Grizz feels like it's geared more for higher speed riding while the Kodiak feels like it pulls harder at lower speeds. As of yesterday I traded my Can-am for a Grizzly, so I now own both a grizz and Kodiak so I'll be able to test head to head. I think outside of Honda, Yamaha is about as reliable as they come. I do all types of riding however, I have not towed anything other than pulling quads out of the mud. Check out Rox risers for the handlebars.

    I'm 6'5 and I have a 2018. I don't have any issue with mine. I also don't see many yamaha's at mud parks or trail ride. I've added a few upgrades to mine over the years, but much.
