    I rode in Texas the other day and was having a grand ole time; the reverse gear was having issues, spitting and sputtering, and it backfired only in reverse. I went back up, and it died again. I tried to restart it like I had multiple times before, and it never started. Starting was louder than usual, so I thought something was off internally. I towed it home and went to looking and low, and that same intake boot popped off ever so slightly; I slipped it back on and tightened it up, and started up instantly. Good work figuring it out!

    Its your Grizzly and Arctic Cat series that got me subscribed to your channel. I`ve watched both series like 4 times. Hope you do another atv series in the future.

    Steve, Great series of videos. I've basically gone step by step in rebuilding a 2000 Grizzly by watching your videos. How do i correct a rich running grizzly? Can i do this without removing the carb again?

    As I recall, there you cant get the throttle sleeve/needle assembly out without tilting the carburetor over. The height of that needle in reference to the sleeve changes the mixture. Raising needle makes it richer, lowering needle makes it leaner. Hope this helps.

    Common problem. It took me a while to figure that one out. I even replaced that carb boot and it would still blow off. Thanks to EPA they have to be lean to meet emissions and that makes them pop back through the carb. Mine has a slider gate and when its not open enough it will blow the carb off the boot. I was told to drill the low speed jet out to richen it up a bit. But for now im fighting an no intermittent spark problem.

    I have not read all the comments so please forgive me if somebody already addressed this : If you haven't gotten your spark problem fixed yet, first put a new spark plug in it--it's a b*tch--18mm spark plug socket, it's way down in there, then get your multitester out and check your stator snap connects located under the left rear inside the frame by the left rear tire with your meter set to OHMS, per the Grizzly shop manual red/white should be 459-561 for your stator pickup button and green/brown should be 270-330 for your coils, i got an aftermarket stator and they wired it wrong so check your wires and wire colors, its working now tho, also I watched another content creator and they recommended grounding the battery to the frame with a heavy cable as an extra ground in case your stator tries to ground to the frame? I didn't know about that but I put extra ground wires on both my 1998 and 1999 Grizzlys anyway and hopefully it helps, good luck

    This might be a stupid question but what's the difference in power between the 600 and the 660

    I don't know exactly, but I bet it wasn't very noticeable where it counts. Seems like a lot of these changes are for marketing purposes.

    What year is your Grizzly? I think i have the same one. I cant get it to start because the starter is slipping and mine does not have the pull start like yours does. Is that an easy fix?

  • @stevewatr

    @stevewatr

    Mines a 2000. I've found the pull starter to be useless. It's very hard to pull on this big of a motor. As for is it an easy fix? Shouldn't be too hard to diagnose. Start by making sure you have a good battery that's fully charged. Then pull the starter and see if it spins up okay, and is throwing out the pinion gear.

    @@stevewatr thank you for your prompt reply Steve! I was able to get it started a couple of times today with a new fresh battery. How ever I had a problem with the choke later on in the day and it wont start, then I figured out the choke issue and now I just hear a grinding sound in the flywheel when trying to start it like something in the starting mechanism below is not catching :/ and a sound of metals grinding every once in a while. Now the new battery is dead lol so I have to recharge it. Do you think low oil level may contribute to this? I need to figure out how to add oil as well because I can see that theres little to no motor oil in in the glass indicator. Fun...

    @@stevewatr I watched your video again just now and I noticed 2 things. 1. Just like yours, my carborator leaks fuel from a top hole where a hose should connect to. 2. Your son is wearing Red Sox gloves, are you guys in MA? Im in Milton Massachusetts!
