Yamaha Drive 2: Oil Change

In this video I change the oil on the golf cart. Please recycle your oil. Tools needed are a 5mm Allen wrench, a 17mm wrench and a catch pain. Total time to complete the job is 15 to 20 minutes.

    Great video. It really helped me out. The manual takes a lot for granted. Nothing in my manual talked about that plastic skid plate that you have to take off to get to the plug.

    Good video, Thanks. Next time you do your oil, go ahead and remove that spark arrestor screen on the tip of your exhaust pipe. It'll only get clogged eventually and cause problem. Won't be an issue if you don't go off road. You can drill it out or unbolt it and slip it off.

    You might want to put a few pumps of grease into the Clutch assembly when changing the oil.

    So I had to have a recall done on my cart something about the brake cable. At any rate I asked the service man if the zerk fitting on the centrifugal clutch needed grease. He specifically said no. He said they never grease them. I agree it seems like a good idea especially since Yamaha put a zerk fitting on the clutch assembly so, I don’t know what to do. The owners manual is silent on the matter. Please respond as to what you know about it and where you got the information. Thanks again.

    @@didifixthat7910 this comes from personal experience I had to replace a whole clutch on a 2004 Yamaha, about 300.00. Plus a puller. If you put the transmission in neutral and run the engine you will the see the clutch opens up so belt down in the grove, this changes the gear ratio. Then the when the RPMs slow down a spring pushes it closed and belt goes back to the top. My clutch won’t do that, once I took it apart, I noticed the the roller were so badly worn that it had a flat spot where one arms would get stuck and not let the spring push the back to the top. It be starting in fourth gear with a manual transmission. If you decide to take the cover off the clutch and watch how works put a piece of card over the clutch assembly. Without it you spray grease on yourself and the roof.

    Question sir, is it Necessary to re-install the plastic cover or "installation pan"? I understand definitely the muffler diverter. I ask because I just received led glo 4 piece kit and the plastic installation pan is in my way. If I want to mount the lights running parallel on the frame rails

    I would say yes you need it. The large plastic panel acts as sound insulation as well as assisting in holding in the rubber exhaust diverter. I guess you could leave off the plastic panel and the rubber exhaust diverter but I would think that the cart would be significantly louder.

    Was changing oil on 2022 Yamaha drive 2. I noticed there was a lot of surface cracks on engine around drain plug and up. Yamaha told me this is a protective coating on engine. Have you ever seen this?

  • @didifixthat7910

    @didifixthat7910

    2 жыл бұрын

    I would say cracks are not but superficial crack like lines that protrude from the engine case is normal. The case is cast, not machined so some surface imperfections are normal. If there are true cracks present then take it back to the dealer. You have a 3 year warranty.

  • @daisydomergue9327

    @daisydomergue9327

    @@didifixthat7910 thanks for the response. I believe they are superficial. It just seems odd that they make it like that. Seems that if I was to take off the drain plug that area around the plug would be fragile like the thin metal would flake off.

  • @didifixthat7910

    @didifixthat7910

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@daisydomergue9327 I really think the areas you are describing are casting imperfections or marks. The area around the drain plug has been machined to be completely flat so that the drain plug will seal properly. Let me know if oil leaks thru the metal. I really don’t think the cracks you are describing are anything more than casting imperfections. Hey, you’ve got a 3 year warranty on that bad boy. Just keep an eye on it. If here is an issue make them fix it.

    I trying to find out what those parts are called that you removed to get to the oil drain plug. The big cover and the boot cover over the exhaust. My cart doesn’t have either and I want to put them on mine! Can you tell me what they’re called so I can look them up to purchase them?

    I’m guessing that you are attempting to turn your cart into a quiettech cart? Not sure what they are called, I am guessing a belly pan or splash guard. The exhaust thing is probably called a exhaust diverter? Check to make sure it fits your muffler before you buy one. Also there is a layer of insulation all around the engine housing. Good luck.
