I am not on the same league as the others who left comments. I do have Yamaha classical guitars (G231, C300) the GC is still part of my acquisition plan. Thanks for the video. Oh, finally, it's Madagascar, not Madagascan.

Thanks for the review. I was on the edge of buying a crossover to get the tonal qualities I want in a recording without having the traditional neck of a classical guitar. However, the more I thought about it and the more I listened, there is just nothing that brings out the sound of an acoustic guitar than an external mic. The 32 is in my budget and will be my choice. (Yamaha owes you a commission on this one!)

well, honestly, 2014 C32 had a broad, long echoeing and more resonating sound whereas C42 has a crisp and sharp sound. Is it because of the different wood qualities or the age of guitars themselves? Because it felt like C32 was more comfortable with the sounds.

I have to say I like the tonal quality of both guitars and would be very happy to perform on either , the 42 just has a slight edge if I were to choose. Thank you so much for sharing and I like the piece you played and how it was easier to compare both guitars.

Thanks for posting! appreciate the comparison. I came here thinking (and hoping?) I wouldn't be able to tell a difference, but I'm blown away by the sound of the GC42. I got a GC32 Cedar a few months ago and it has been amazing. Now I 'need' a Spruce guitar. I was thinking about getting another brand for different tone (Yamahas sound more piano-like to me and wanted something a bit sweeter, or lusher) but the sound of the GC42 was really good (such resonance!) and has me re-thinking my plan... cheers.

I have a Yamaha G 255 S II, spruce top. It sounds beautiful. I recently restored it with an experienced luthier. Unfortunately the Yamaha logo was erased during the repainting, but it sounds wonderful. How much do you think it would go for today. It was built circa 1982, because it was a birthday gift from my mother when I was 15 in 1982.

I did notice the 42 has the square cuts in the head with I think are cool.. ibanez reserved that for their better models I remember... never seen tripile laminate head myself... did the 32 have a double?

There are a lot of comparison videos where I'm hard pressed to hear the difference between the models they're comparing.....this is not one of those instances. Although both guitars sounded excellent....the GC42 sounded far better (in my own, subjective opinion, of course)....however the price differential between the two would allow me to overlook those differences...lol. So...I think the GC42 sounded better....but I would be far more likely to purchase the GC32.
