When I was a beginner my grandfather had this acoustic guitar and I would play it not knowing what to do, but this guitar made me progress far throughout the time I kept playing; I still go back to playing this guitar when I feel like playing acoustic

2:39 This guy is correct on the "Going the cheapo route" vs. "A Quality Instrument" question. When I was considering guitar I asked my brother what to get. He had been a professional musician over 15 years at that time. He very emphatically advised me to get a quality name brand instrument, the same advice this guy is telling you! Here's why: 1) IMPROVED LIKELIHOOD OF MUSICAL SUCCESS As the video says, a good instrument will help you sound better and you will enjoy playing it more. The better you get, the more fun it is to play. A cheap instrument will make you fight just to sound decent. So he's 100% right about this...but there's another reason he did NOT mention..... 2) EASY RESALE If you decide guitar is just not for you, SOMEBODY WILL ALWAYS BE GLAD TO TAKE A GOOD GUITAR OFF YOUR HANDS; you won't lose all that much on resale. But if you buy some no-name low-quality crap no one wants, Congratulations: you just married it, and if you give it up and decide to sell it, you could be stuck with as much as a 60-80% loss (if you get an offer at all!) After playing since 1986 and owning dozens of guitars over the years, I would say it is very hard to go wrong with Yamaha acoustics. Their necks are superb, even on their budget instruments. A personal favorite is the FS800 steel string they recently came out with. I need another acoustic guitar like a hole in the head, but if I were buying an acoustic today, that would be it. PS: I own this exact C40 guitar. I paid $20 for it on Craigslist years ago. Just needed some TLC. It's a great little fun size guitar. Played it about an hour just last night

C40 is the best budget classic guitar. But if you have some more fund, c80 will be better

I have a really old yamaha c-40, it is a hand me down, its really beat up, all her edges are chipped a little, except her neck and head, its pristine condition. she only has 4 strings left but she plays nice still.

Is it correctly intoned? I just watched a different review of the same guitar (this one) and the intonation was out which is the last thing i want as the intonation on a classical is pretty much set in stone and can't be adjusted/corrected. Please let me know, thanks.

Wasim Sankeshwarkar you simply wouldn't be able to get everything out of this guitar as you have all fingers of your right hand involved, not just your plectrum.

Savarez D'angelico Light Tension - the strings on Yamaha C40. Savarez strings are made in France. Normal tension and light tension strings are easier for your fingers. Hard and extra hard tension sound brighter and louder. It depends on your taste what strings to buy. You can buy almost anything on Amazon.

What about model named "Flamenco" ?

flamenco is another way of playing the guitar so flamenco guitar is made for falmenco players.....if you just want that classical tone just go with this one... but if you wanna learn n play flamenco go with the other one

udi112 And also the buzz which is very bad when ye play stacatto notes in mid octave range. Although it's quite good for beginners I'd say, people can always save money for buying a better one in the future.
