Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Here by popular demand is the Yamaha Bolt VS Honda Shadow Phantom! Really this video will apply to almost any Yamaha Bolt vs Honda Shadow 750 with a few slight differences, but wanted to focus on the Shadow Phantom as that is the most requested! Whether you are looking at a beginner motorcycle or one for experienced riders, both of these bikes have their place! The Yamaha Bolt for beginners can be a great choice, but the Honda Shadow Phantom for beginners can as well depending on personal comfort level!

I am very familiar with Shadows. My buddy rode several and my last bike was a Shadow 750. These are very reliable bikes and not loud. Thus, your neighbors will not hate you if you ride a lot and come and go early and late in the day. The other thing to consider is the liquid cooling. If you live or plan to ride where it is hot a lot, then liquid cooling is something to seriously consider. I used to ride with lots of guys, many of whom rode air cooled Harleys. On hot sunny Summer days when we got stuck in traffic, with is common in the NYC area, they would complain and call Harleys "sperm boilers". They would also have to pull over to keep the bikes from over heating - they always argued that is why lane splitting should be legal. I am not crapping on air/oil cooled bikes, but understand what the possible limitation may be.

I have owned 5 Shadows (3 600s and 2 1100 ACE) and 1 V Star 1100. Loved all the Shadows and would happily have another.
I did a set test on both and I felt very comfortable on the shadow it felt lighter off the kickstand and the setting position felt better to me. I'm riding a v star 650 right now and looking at the shadow for my next bike.
funny enough im torn between the two but slightly leaning towards the shadow because of the more relaxed sitting position and controls. Only wished it had the same power as the bolt.

You can get the power to it just get better air intake and exhaust and the dyno jet ecus and it go. Speaking from experience.

Still an excellent choice, between the two it really just comes down to what you are more comfy on in the end!
Both a excellent choice imo.😊
Man, I'd like to know something now that I see the RE Continental 650 behind you. I know they're two very different bikes but I'm trying to decide between the Interceptor 650 (which is pretty much like the Continental but different ergonomics) and the Shadow 750. Which one do you think would be better for daily use, riding 2 up and ocasionally hitting the back roads? What about the power delivery? Thanks man. I'd really appreciate it if you answered.
Is it fair to say that the Shadow is more similar to the Yamaha V-stars?
Shadow Phantom, Yamaha Bolt, Harley Davidson Street 750, and finally Suzuki V-Star 650.

You mean yamaha vstar 650
I’ve been wanting to switch to something a different from my 2003 883 mainly because I’m about 6’2 to 6’3 and I’m scrunched on it, I would love to get a soft tail standard but the price tag is a tad high🤣. So I have been looking at the shadow phantom just to get something I can stretch more
I am a Suzuki GSXR Guy but Ill take the Shadow any time over the Bolt.
I was very close to getting a Yamaha XV950 Racer (Yamaha Bolt C Spec for you muricans), but ended up getting a Triumph Street Twin instead, it was the better bike of the two and was cheaper. I still wanted the Bolt but the dealer refused to lower the price, his loss, my gain lol. Very happy with the Triumph. Edit: Traded my Street Twin for a C-Spec Bolt, I realized I wanted the Yamaha more! XD
U R wonderful man . keep going Boy .
They ever sort out the death wobble on the Yamaha Bolt?
I love my 18 blacked out bolt. It’s hippy looking but cool to me at the same time. It fits my personality and how I am. It’s fun with its build and handling. The Honda shadow is very smooth and great for long therapeutic riding. Both great bikes.

That’s the key word, long therapeutic riding.
A comparison between the shadow phantom and the c50 Boss would be appreciated.
I had a '90 Yamaha Virago with forward controls that someone made for me and absolutely loved that bike. Now I have a RE Meteor 350 and even though it's a great bike, I don't like sitting so high on a bike. I'd rather be in the bike instead of on the bike. I was thinking of either a Shadow Phantom 750 or a Rebel 500. Any advice? I know both bikes make forward controls for them. Thank you.😎

Shadow all day every day.
I have both, the bolt is faster/torquier and handles better but after about 20 minutes I start to go numb. The shadow is more comfortable.

He should include the Vulcan S in the similar ball park. Similar power & performance as the bolt , with shaddow cruiser ergonomic feel. But a much sportier feel. Doesn't look anywhere as good. But hay. If you had a choice , I would pick indian scout over both of them. I just wish triumph still made the 865 speedmaster. If only it had belt drive. My unicorn bike.

The Vulcan S is a great choice for sure, for a lot of reasons! I just stuck with these two because that was the specific question haha...the old Speedmaster was a really cool and weird bike, cruiser setup with a Bonneville engine. Weird, but really cool I thought!
Great review! Absolutely agree with the sit test. I sat on a 750 Shadow and immediately didn't care for it. Love at first squat on my Bolt. I understand your take on the shaft VS belt as well. I traded a V-star 1100 on the Bolt and find the Bolt feels more powerful. There's a subtle delay with the shaft. The belt drive feels much more responsive. 100% to each their own. Cheers!

Absolutely, that's why I love that there are so many different bikes to fit different people! Cheers Sonof!
Not a fan of Bolt’s elevated tank / handle bar position. Shadow looks better to me ( a Vulcan S owner ) !

Throwing the Vulcan S 650 in here would have made sense too
Wish the Phantom had the Bolt mechanics. Belt-drive/air-cooled. Guess I gotsta get another Sportster.
How can these big CC engines stand being air cooled ?

I have an air cooled Honda CB1100 and it runs great even on the hottest days in summer. But it's an inline 4, not a V twin. So no hot cylinder under your crotch.
Also you can ride shadow with A2 licence if I am correct. It ıs slıghtly less than 35kW.
I’m looking at both bikes, I know I need to go try them both, but I’m 6 foot with long legs.. ya think the Shadow would fit me better? (personally I choose the Bolt for esthetic appeal)..
@AlexSimmons11c

They both just fit differently for different reasons, actually I would think the Bolt might work better but only if your knees will be at a comfortable angle for you. try them out for sure!

Yamaha bolt all the way, but hope yamaha make lower displacement for asian market
Bolt is a great bike would be cool to see them add a 500 and maybe 12 1400

Would be stellar! something in the size range to compete with a modern Rebel would be great, as well as a bigger performance model. To Yamaha though the Stryker is/was the model that fits the "big Bolt" in their lineup.

@@AlexSimmons11c true but the Stryker doesn't look as good
Price would be nice.
Personal opinion. I go with the Yamaha Bolt. I have owned 2 Yamaha bolts, an883(2014) and I currently have a 2013 Honda shadow phantom. The bolt is lighter, faster and more agile. It also looks better once you put some Vance and Hines, fairings and with a seat for your partner. The shadow is cool too with V&H as well as tall bars (my current set up. Mind you it is a stage 1 and it is still slower than a stock bolt) so yeah I’m my opinion I enjoyed and prefer the bolt. (Will be selling mine soon for a low rider S 😎)
What’s that bike behind you? I like that one…
They both need 6 speed trans and 100cui v twins.
Shadow is best
The Honda is my choice
Phantom CERTAINLY looks better.

Bin beide gefahren. Die Honda fährt sich einfacher/leichter. Honda hat mir mehr Spaß gebracht😊
the shadow is more like a normal cruiser......i dont like the styling of the bolt, i think the tank shape is not beautiful
Ummm?? The bolt has the same horsepower as the shadow 1100. Why are you comparing the bolt to the 750? The shadow 750 is slower than a ninja 250 bruh.

Bolt sucks. Shadow all dayyy
Exactly the comparison I am doing. BUT you just chatter. No bike sitting there to point out and no info re:shocks, handle bars, seats, et al. Hence, no value to me - what's your height and weight?
