Im working on the exact same machine and im just beginning to throw parts at it. Carb cleaned, fresh plug and new ignition coil is due in tomorrow. Thanks for the video. Glad you won the battle and inevitability will be helping me fix mine.

Enjoyed the atv videos. Good ones are few and far between on KZread. Even though I drive a 98 Honda 450 foreman, I’m always on the search to catch an atv video of the older models.

Check your battery voltage while it's running. Voltage regulator is known to over charge and burn up the CDI and Pickup. It should not go above 13.4v-13.8v max. I have seen quite a few that were putting out 14+v after they run for a couple of minutes.

I’m on my 5th aftermarket cdi for my 87 moto4 350. ,,,, they seem to be junk for the most part

Good deal, bad new parts suck. I would consider getting a carb rebuild kit, cause I expect that float or linkage is old and gonna happen again when you least expect it.

The day after I shot the video, I decided to put the carb in the ultrasonic cleaner...just to make sure.

I have this exact model and the machine works just not when I push the start button... new coil pack, new relay, new handlebar switch... neutral and reverse light works when the key is on. I can turn the machine on via the main switch neutral like comes on, kill switch not on and I push the button to start an nothing happens... no click no start! I can jump the solenoid and the machine starts...can you do a video to help me... Your video is very well explained and step by step. I’m gonna clean all the wire connections and test the pulse coil...

if you're jumping the solenoid and it works your solenoid needs to be replaced

So it was the cdi? I've got a polaris sawtooth with same problem. Sometimes it woukd spark and crank now it just won't spark at all.

great video, I have a 94 timberwolf, now i know how to try and find out why i have no spark.where die you get the replacement pick up coil? and have you found a good replacement CDI? how would you test the stator? sorry about all the questions, but you know what youre doing........
