I have this lock on my front door and the older model on my garage door. I love both. Well worth the price tag IMO.

Great to hear, I definitely agree!
Great video. Thanks. I have the old model and think I will be upgrading. By the way, you can wake up your keypad by touching the screen with three fingers simultaneously. Works for locking it as well. The back of three fingers works great ergonomically.

Huh, fascinating to see that Yale uses the August app. That app is very well designed.
Awesome review! Really wish I would have seen this before buying 3 of the last generation

I prefer the original models. I've installed dozens of both types, and the newer style is just too enormous on the inside of the door. They also ditched the glass touchscreen, which is extremely robust. One advantage of the new ones is network functionality out of the box whereas the originals need to use an additional module for that. I would always recommend the older, glass touchscreen with no key override for the slickest look. Only sticks out about ½" on the outside.
I own this same lock with the physical keys. There is an issue that Yale is working on where after a few weeks, the activity logs stop showing events in the app. If you use the app to lock or unlock it will show but nothing else until you pull the batteries and then all the past one show up. They think it’s a server issue.
Hey man great video, very informative👍🏾. My question was how does the touch screen function in cold weather, you answered that.

I've installed dozens of them in very cold weather (MN) and I've never seen any issues. (Other than that you may need to remove your gloves to use the glass touchscreens. Not sure if that's an issue with newer, plasticky touchscreens though).
I’ve been a Kwikset smart lock guy for many years. I was considering their Halo, but I think it’s time to switch up and try this.
Would the bluetooth version increase the battery life? Great video describing the Yale Assure 2 lock.
Thank you for this review. I like the laptop briefcase bag, kindly share link to check it out.
Those door sense modules are just magnets and the actual sensing components are inside the lock. Because they are just magnets they reuse them for every lock. My lock is at least 4 years old and it came with the same exact module.
Great Video! can I ask you what lighting fixtures are the 3 linear pendants on the left side of the entry door?

It's from a company called WAC Lighting.
Three fingers to wake the screen up boss.
I liked the first version better. The keypad on the new one is not very sensitive. I do like the fingerprint reader and the air is much smaller. I do like it I just don't like the touch screen but I only have had it one day so probably need more time to get used to it.

How are you liking it after a few weeks? I just installed mine and love it so far. Got the version without wifi to improve battery life because I don't really need to control it. So much nicer than my old Kwikset 620 with push buttons.

I’ve got the Yale Doorman and Yale Connect which uses the same app - how did you get it into Homekit ?
@aboveaveragejoereviews

I went to the HomeKit app, clicked the plus sign in top right corner, clicked add accessory, then scanned in the barcode off the Yale Module to add it into HomeKit. One of the locks didn't work when I scanned it in and I had to manually add it.
Does the app have a battery percentage remaining feature? I have Blink Cameras and they have that feature on the app, as they also run on AAs.

@@aboveaveragejoereviews Okay, thanks! I wonder if that can be in an app/keypad update. Thanks for the review!
What's the point of the sensor if the door lock is still on a timer and will relock itself with the door open? I currently have the original Assure lock and I can't stand the fact that if I'm bringing stuff in or am standing in the doorway talking to someone, the auto-lock will still lock itself with the door open. This has led to me slamming the deadbolt up against the door frame probably over 100 times over the years. It also means that I'm also playing chicken with it, should I leave the door open 25 seconds and I'm too afraid to close the door because I'm not exactly sure when the lock is going to pop back out. This has also led to a bunch of mis-timings and the lock getting jammed because the door was only partially closed. Over the years, this has led to the mechanism getting really worn down and is the reason I'm looking to replace it.

I agree, same thing happened to me. I turned off the auto lock feature due to this. Seems like it should take advantage of the door sense module and only lock when the door is shut.
Can you tell me if this lock makes a lot of noise? My current smart locks motor is so loud it’s brutal to use at night when my family is asleep. It’ll literally wake my wife up. I’m thinking of getting this but I can’t find a review video of the actual sound it makes when it locks/unlocks.

The lock is battery operated, but if the battery dies, then you can use a 9 volt battery to charge the lock from the outside to get enough power to let yourself in.

It's not too loud, I measured about 65 decibels when locking and unlocking. You can adjust the sound level of the chime from high, med, low or off.
Is there a setting in case the batteries die and you are left outside?
@aboveaveragejoereviews

You can use a 9 volt battery, and tap the battery to two metal prongs under the lock to charge it. I haven't tested this, but that's Yale's answer if your lock dies.

My BIGGEST concern is what if there is no wifi and the door not opening? With the key, at least you have a backup. Im too new to the smart door lock, so please go easy on me 😅

If your WIFI goes out, you can still open the door by punching in the code on the lock. It needs WIFI for remotely unlocking it.

@@aboveaveragejoereviews ah i see, what if the battery is low and not unlock the door? I know cuz i just experienced that with Schlage, despite entering the correct code, door wouldn't open all the way. After swapping out old batteries, it works!

@@baoanprounited If the battery dies, you can take a 9V battery and press it to the two connectors on the bottom side of the touch pad to provide enough charge to enter in your code and unlock your door.

The one I have is the touchscreen model.
I bought this lock and it continually failed to auto lock - leaving my door unlocked for severa days. the calibration kept failing though I did nothing to cause that. Yale admitted there was a problem with their app and it would take a month to fix. I paid a lot for this stupid lock and now I'm throw it out and go with the cheaper non-wifi lock
Level lock is #1 ....Assure Lock is #2a along with Schlage Encode Plus.
@Xokkenlion1

Level Lock isn't even in the same ballpark as either the Yale or the Schlage. Maybe your referring to an app feature or something like that, but for physical security Level Lock is kind of a joke. Cheaply made. The one that I encountered had batteries inside the bolt. Interesting but bad design.

Overpriced, I can get a similar lock from Chine for 1/3 of the cost. A lock from China will work anywhere, but Yale carves up the market to keep prices high. Locks bought in the US won't work in the rest of the world bc they lock down the apps. I foolishly bought a lock in the US, took it back to HK to use only to discover it won't work with the app for this region, and they won't help me get the USA app. The lock from China has fingerprint reader, camera, app and even a card reader like hotels use, under $100. This is a book brainer.
The Auto Unlock function is garbage
